In his interview with The Charismatic Voice, Ren explained how he is a perfectionist in regards to mixing his busking videos and said that he spends many, many hours doing so. About 4 years ago, he commented on the recording process on one of The Big Push’s busking videos when someone how asked how their videos had such great sound. His explanation at that time would also cover the process used for this video (minus the reference to the drums): “Line inputs running from each of the busking amps into a H4N recorder. Then the H4N condenser mic placed in front of the amps to capture the ambience of the street. Then another iPhone mic recording the drums (just set on voice recorder). Then mix all that together in post on Logic with some light compression and EQ to make everything pop, and voila!”

One day many years ago Ren was walking home after busking, and came across this young guy who was singing all alone, with no guitar or PA. Ren thought he was really good, but he seemed uncertain of himself. Ren offered to let the kid borrow his guitar, but he said he couldn't play guitar. So Ren offered to play guitar for him, and to let him use his PA so people could hear him better. That kid was Sam. There's a video of that day - they're both very young with their Justin Bieber haircuts. Sam later left a comment on that video, where he says he used to cry when he watched it, as Ren went through year after year after year of declining health, with no end in sight. They've got a great song called Blind Eyed that they recorded together. Sam is a great artist on his own, his video for his song Time Will Fly is great, as are both the OMV and the recent live performance of his song Hero. But that's a tough one, as someone else will likely fill you in on in the comments.

Sam was 16 on that day and Ren 23, so Ren was already sick. That would explain why he is propped up against a doorway. Sam just completed a tour and Ren was home in Brighton for holidays. They met up again. There is a great picture with Ren's arm around Sam's shoulder. During tour, Sam lost his father to S.

I love stories like this. Steve Vai (considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time) turned up at Joe Satriani's house when he was 14 with a guitar with no strings and the strings in his other hand and asked him to teach him which led to a life-long friendship and Steve is still killing it 50 years later. Hopefully Ren and Sam will do the same!

I’d like to recommend you to check another crossover group from South Korea I discovered recently. Its name is “Forténa” that has four tenors combination.(the first crossover group with four tenors). One of the members is a very famous count tenor(His name is DQ Lee and played in lots of operas all over the world). When I heard their very much first cover song “Neapolis” in a competition program, I had a goosebumps everywhere. I’m sure you would like it and I’d love to hear your opinion about their singing. Some interesting facts for you Ken. Fast forward to 2024 - Sam Tompkins is currently touring with his own show and recently opened for and performed live with Justin Bieber. Sam's "Lose it All (Live)" showcases his amazing voice. Ren's Money Game Part 3 just won best music video at the IMVA International Music Video Awards 2024, also winning the Best Music Video Director category, as well as an Honourable Mention for Best Cinematography category. MG3 is a story that matches Hi Ren and should be a must watch. Nice reaction. Thanks.

If ren gave me one week announcement that he was busking with Sam and the big push, I would fly from nz to go watch it.
@kylefrandsen266511 ай бұрын
Ren says he'll go in after and meticulously (OCD) adjust levels even to the extreme of beat-by-beat if needed - like the moment Sam pulls away from the mic but his volume doesn't fade. Judging from the size of the crowd, I doubt Ren had to "add" a crowd reaction - he may have increased the volume of the camera audio track or something, but that's a pretty big crowd and these two are very impressive.
@justinatest945611 ай бұрын
His latest live video Money Game 3 is an absolutely stunning work of art. It's teachnically Part in a trilogy, but the other two songs only share a similar theme - there is no cohesive narrative - and can therefore be viewed first without spoiling the first two parts.
@REN4eva11 ай бұрын
I agree that MG pt 3 is stunning but I disagree about skipping over the first two. In my opinion they add so much to the experience of pt 3, that the whole trilogy ought to be watched in order.
@kellyt534111 ай бұрын
@@REN4eva I get what they are saying, since someone like this reactor does maybe 1 Ren video every 6 months (maybe a little more or a little less) so the one you want him to see next should be one of Ren's best. At the rate he watches them he will get to Money Game 3 in about a yr or so if he starts from MG1. I might be exaggerating a bit about how often he does them but I'm to lazy to look it up, but they a few and far between.

This is such an exciting time to witness the growth of independent artists, breaking the mold of the old industry restrictions. People like REN, Angelina Jordan, Asaf Avidan, Diana Ankudinova, Teddy Swims, Dan Vasc- who are defiantly doing their own thing, in their own way, using tools like KZbin to bring their vision directly to the fans- and finding genuine success with it. I don’t think the music industry will ever be the same. There are undiscovered gems to be found every day and a viral triumph around every corner. Even Ed Sheeran started out busking as a kid, for heaven’s sake!

I have a suggestion. It has had 33 million views in 5 months. It is Emma Kok singing Voila with Andre Rieu’s full orchestra. Emma is Dutch but sings this in French. Truly you don’t need the translation for this to impact you. A lot of the audience sheds tears. Please listen to Andre’s introduction. It really adds so much to her performance. Then once you’ve been blown away by the performance in French look up the English lyrics 🤯. She didn’t write this song but it’s as if it was written for her. Don’t do it for me. Do it for yourself. 33 million views… there must be something there.
