Power ballads for life!!!! So much emotion and power!! Dan Vasc never fails to impress!
@Lydelith10 ай бұрын
This rendition is that of a superstar, nothing short of it. It truly stands as Dan Vasc's best cover of any song he has ever done, and those who are familiar with his work, understand what it means. Great when Dan's voice in E6 seamlessly goes over to the guitar sound! I especially love these Irish vibes, that Garrett J Peters shreds on his guitar. He already did some amazing renditions with Dan, and maybe there's more to come. These are two metal musicians that not only excel in producing high-quality metal music but also embody the essence and attitude typically associated with the metal genre.

Isn't it fascinating how tastes can vary? For me, it's one of his weakest covers; the speed doesn't do the song any justice, robbing it of its entire pathos and drama - and I say that as a die-hard Power/Speed Metal fan. But no hard feelings, Cheers!

I have read comments in different places from people complaining about this cover. Fans of Dan who gripe that it's not the way he did Amazing Grace or that it's different from Celine's rendition. And that's the whole point. Why would anyone be compelled to copy Celine? Her version is iconic and stands alone (even though I personally don't care for it). I also think it became quite tiresome and sappy after a while. Dan's whole purpose was to turn that song on it's head. This cover is invigorating, mesmerizing, completely unique and original. It makes an almost 70 year old grandmother want to get up and jump around the room! In my humble opinion, THIS is nothing short of a MASTER STROKE of genius.

Thank you for the fun reaction, Ken. I'm glad you liked the arrangement, basically, at least. Personally, I didn't think anything at all was missing, but then I've listened to it carefully about 24 times, now (could be more...I stopped counting at 12). Some have been through reactions -- most have been on Dan's video -- just because I LOVE IT. Partly, I think I don't miss anything, because it's very much how I might have re-arranged it, myself. Also, it's because our entire family (12 people, mind you...ages 74 , 70 , 45 , 38 , and their eight children -- ages 19, 16, 14, 13, 11, nearly-9, nearly-7, and 4 -- six boys & two girls), is TOTALLY and ABSOLUTELY in love with this version of a song that has already been beloved by all of us, from a long time back. None of us think there's anything missing at all, in Gabriel's arrangement of the song, Garrett's playing, or Dan's singing. When Judi and I were watching it together again, and again, and AGAIN, yesterday, with three kids sitting at computers and five of them roaming back and forth from the living room to the computer room where we were gathered, while chiming in with their lovely singing voices every time they came through the archway, everyone was having a GRAND time. The 14-year old boy sitting at one of the computers hit and HELD the E6. A bit surprised, Judi ran the video back, then confirmed the E6 (while Isaiah hit and held it again), on the keyboard that also graces the computer room He has a fantastic ear, an equally fantastic quality of voice, a HUGE range, and -- in his very skinny (but lithe) body -- WONDERFUL breath control. He can hold extreme notes for at least 35 seconds, as if it's NOTHING! We were timing him just two weeks ago, as he harmonized with a VERY high (not squealed, yelled, or otherwise-treated) final note of the happy-birthday-song being sung to the just-turned-four-year-old. He was SEATED both that day and yesterday, too! Anyway...thanks again for bringing us another fun reaction to this song.

Just one thing that you commented on, Ken, about looking for Dan's performance to add or do a little something different from the original. My new favorite Dan video. Loved this version. I compare it to a roller coaster with the intro leading us up that long crawl to the top. Then its full steam as Dan and Garrett drive us through the curves - left then right, through the corkscrews, around the loopdeloop never losing speed until they finally reach the end where the coaster car comes to a stop. Out of breath we can't wait to go for another ride. i think it was a perfect blend of staying true to the lyrics while upgrading the music from coach to first class. What stands out (beyond the guitars, drums, piano,, and vocals) are the glimpses of Dan and Garretts personalites as they appear to be having so much fun recording this. Imagine this as the finallity of the Super Bowl halftime show.

I actually hated the original of this song, but man, this version is great! It’s rawly powerful and beautiful at the same time.
