Kenny Rogers was just as popular on the pop charts as he was on the country charts. Popular music on the radio was a mix of all genres back then. You'd hear a variety of everything back then and most of it was great no matter who the artist was.

Love your little signoff at the end - you are just too darn cute. And I love your take on these country songs... you are so down-to-earth, human, relatable. You have become my favorite reactor (and I’ve subscribed to 10-15 different ones over time). You really do have a way with words and of expressing what you feel so well. It truly lifts my spirits when I get to take a few minutes from my day to watch one of your reactions! Keep up the great reactions, and keep being the kind and sensitive person you are!

I grew up listening to Kenny Rogers. I always loved this song. I struggled with money throughout my early marriage. My wife always supported me and understood that I worked hard to support my family. That always reminded me of this song on those 16 hour days. I watched your other reactions to Kenny Rogers and felt that this song could touch your and your husbands hearts. That is why I requested it. You are both so open to music and seem to let it move you. Today, I don't have to be away from my family as much. I have a normal 40 hour a week Job, and my wife and I work together on a second business.

This is one of the saddest, most heartbreaking pop songs I've ever heard. It's almost the flip-side to Midnight Train to Georgia, which is about a woman who will stay with her man, whose Hollywood dreams failed, prompting him to head back home, to the South. This is almost like the guy from that song, just before he decided to give up his Hollywood dreams. In the Kenny Rogers' song, the central figure is a musician who had big dreams, and it's been long enough where it doesn't seem like he's going to be the star (or the moneymaker) he hoped to be. But he keeps chugging along, unsure of whether to keep at it, sad and worried that pursuing his dreams comes at a huge price to his wife, who invested her life and hopes in him and who -- despite it all -- still believes in him. I think he's also struggling with being faithful, which is why he says, at the end of the first verse, "And it's good when I finally make it home, all alone.Even typing it out makes me sad.

You should do Through the Years & Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town. Both great songs he did. I know you've already done I Will Always Love You, but you need to do the version that Dolly sings at the end of Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The best version of that song. She's singing it to Burt Reynolds & the emotion she puts in it is beautiful.

You guys need to hear him do 'Lady'. Kenny has a fabulous version of it on KZbin, singing it when he was young about 10 days after Lionel Richie wrote it for him. It's just gorgeous! Then you need to watch the version of him & Lionel singing it together at a country awards show in Las Vegas in 2012, just a few years before Kenny passed. The love between them makes me cry every time I watch it. Friends for over 30years & you could see it. You would be amazed at both performances, I promise.
