Larry Tatum: Truly a Great Ambassador of the Art of Kenpo
@JimCunningham-jr7qv Жыл бұрын
Its amazing this guy is still teaching this ridiculous bullshit that doesn't work in reality. What is more amazing is that there are still people that believe its real.

I've seen alot of Kenpo styles and I have to Admit Larry Tatum and Affiliates have this certain "It" Factor. Which makes Kenpo very Attractive. Excellent video! Thank You. *Note: What exactly is the It factor? To put things concretely, the It factor is a combination of confidence, charm, charisma, and good self-esteem, meaning it can take your life to the next level and open plenty of doors to you.

I study under the Tracy system of Kenpo. I have always been impressed with GM Tatum's abilities in movement but also in his teaching skills, kindness and humility...thank you for sharing.

G.M. Tatum is the King of Kenpo hands down currently!
@Kit_Bear2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say he is king but he's certainly a legend. Mr Speakman is advancing the art beyond where it came from but Mr Tatum has given the world the ability to learn Kenpo through the wealth of videos he's produced. I think this is far more important than the title of king. A legend is far more suitable and respectful to the contributions he's made to the art.
@Redsensei10p2 жыл бұрын
@@Kit_Bear I love what GM Jeff Speakman has done with Kenpo 5.0 (yes he was promoted by his students to 10th degree). But his BJJ needs work. Also a lot of Kenpo 5.0 sparring has lots of holes from what I’ve watched. But that being said at least Mr. Speakman is evolving Kenpo because we all know this is probably how Ed Parker would have addressed the Gracie’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Also Zane Frazier (kenpo 4th degree under Frank Trejo) got destroyed at UFC 1. I think honestly Jeff Speakman’s approach to modernize Kenpo is the best we’ve seen so far. Hopefully the art never becomes obsolete over time.

Belt rankings in Kenpo should be based on “how well you can fight”, not how many katas you can memorize. Like many other traditional martial arts, Kenpo has too much “fluff”, and too little “sparring.”

They do spar, I've seen it. You can't judge based on what you see on KZbin, they don't post everything. They are now implementing grappling and ground fighting. Haven't you heard of Kenpo 5.0?

It might be useful to see what your experiences were when you did kenpo. I assume you got six months of training to be able to really judge the system. You did actually do it right?
