Kentmere papers also used to be much lower in contrast back in the days when I still printed. It probably still is. On multigrade papers Ilford paper would be fine at Grade 2 whereas the same contrast would require grade 4 on Kentmere. Probably just less silver too.

Do you have any tips to get good prints from kentmere? I almost exclusively shoot hp5 or trix because I find them very easy to print. The kentmere for me always produces thin negatives. I love the way it scans, but I rarely scan anything anymore except contact sheets. I’d love to switch to it though, because it’s half the cost of tri x.
@branko84602 жыл бұрын
@@sodapop9mm562 Contrast filter 4, matte paper is my suggestion. If you can get the Ilford Hanenmulle' paper then go to town.

@tjalocha2 жыл бұрын
I like your style. If your negative is too thin or too low contrast to your taste, feel free to extend your development time in 10% steps. You will get higher contrast, but grain size will grow too. The given development times are a starting point only. The 400 looks underdeveloped in comparison to the 100.

I pushed Kentmere 400 to 3200 before. Results were much more contrasty than at box speed, that's for sure. I developed Semi-Stand in HC-110 at a dilution factor of 1:63, for 45 minutes. 30 seconds of inversion at the start of the development, then 2 inversions every 9 minutes till the end.

You should really try Rollei RPX 400. it’s made for Rollei by Ilford and is based on the original Agfapan APX 400 formula (not the new AgfaPhoto APX 400 which might be Kentmere). It‘s really interesting and unique. Definitely not right for low contrast developers but it can look great with normal to high contrast devs. It’s has a really interesting toe and grain.

Not that it has anything to do with the content but if I were an ad guy, great segue from your narrative about encouraging Ilford to do color into your solicitation for Squarespace. That said, nice tour of Kentmere 120 - I used my first 35mm roll of it today, processed in Caffenol this evening but not scanned - negatives looked okay. Entertaining and informative well done video and as another said is Baxter part seal?
