Finally I found a few with the original Head Hunters. I loved them before they changed people.

I dont think the audience was ready for some real talent!

Rusty Mullins No doubt, they were ready listen to Randy Travis and fall asleep.ha Instead what took the stage in front of them was probly the most progressive and aggressive band to span country music, if ya want to call it that. More like heavy metal bluegrass fusion with country vocals/lyrics .

Some People Don’t Know Good Music Until They Hear The Kentucky Head Hunters Sing

I remember watching this. Johnny cash went up soon after, made a comment about how he never heard a version of Davey Crocket quite like that. :)

The crowd just wasn’t ready for the Kentucky Headhunters. Some in the audience had to be thinking, “What the hell is that goddamn rock band doing on the stage? They need to get their asses out of there and make room for Randy Travis!” Well, the band has been making music for over a half-century and now there’s a new album called “That’s A Fact Jack”, and it’s on their own label Practice House. Just as well, the other labels that issued their albums just didn’t know what to do with them. The Kentucky Headhunters were just too rock for country music radio, and too country for rock radio. They are a fantastic band. Truth.

Don't think anyone was expected for this after Clint Black announced.

The Headhunters gave Nashville the middle finger. A great band

One more thing: nobody in the audience seemed to be enjoying the Kentucky Headhunters’ performance. They seemed to be standing still, stone faced. Waiting for them to get the hell off the stage. Afterwards, somebody working for the event’s producer would have told them, “No way in goddamn hell are you ever going to play on the Grand Ole Opry! Now pack up your instruments, get the hell off the stage, and never come back!” Yeah, just goes to show that country music fans in 1991 just wasn’t ready for the Kentucky Headhunters. But I was.

The crowd looks somewhat unresponsive and subdued, to say the least.

You've gotta remember there was nothing like the Kentucky Headhunters in country music before they came along. They were shocking in their image and sound to folks not used to long hair and heavy guitar sound, hence the "heavy metal bluegrass" label.
