Kenyon is a great story teller and he does have humility. He was a handful and old school mentality. Had he not had multiple injuries he could have been better. But solid career nothing to frown on.
@kerry-j4m9 ай бұрын
I always felt Kenyon was vastly over-rated as a pro ( especially being a high draft pick ) didn't average double figures in points or rebounds. Wasn't a good one-on-one defender either,could block a few shots tho. Tried to bully certain players in the league ( bullies chose those they can intimidate ) that way they seem tough.

I relate so much to Kenyons story. Having your grades be an obstacle from people taking your talent seriously was so deflating. I managed to get it together enough to play in college, but I’ll make sure my kids don’t make my mistakes academically.

Yep same here! I wasn't highly recruit. Mostly small D1 and JUCO schools. I didn't apply myself in those books like I should. I could do the work and just I hated school because you learn the same stuff over and over again every year. My collegiate basketball career didn't go the way it should. But, I got a free education out of it and Graduated from college back in 2005.

I remember Kenyon when he played high school ball at Bryan Adams high school. That school was known for football or basketball. I was just a average high school. Larry Johnson came before him and had signed with SMU. His first SAT scores were so low that he did not qualify for the school. He took it a second time and his score jumped so high that they knew some cheating had taken place. They forced him to go to JUCO and the then signed with UNLV. Dallas was not known for producing basketball talent until that group came thru. Larry Johnson, Kenyon Martin, Darren Williams, Chris Bosh, Mookie Blaylock and few others all came thru around the same time and made Dallas a destination for college recruiters.
