Dr Divya S Iyer (born 16 October 1984) is an Indian bureaucrat, medical doctor, editor, and author who is part of the Indian Administrative Service in Kerala. She is the managing director of Vizhinjam International Seaport. She previously has held the posts of District Collector of Pathanamthitta and Mission Director of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA.

Very well explained about the port operations even to the layman by Divya S Nair. Congratulations. I would like to correct one mistake she made at about 7:30 in the video. She said the ship will be anchored (Nankooram is anchor) at the berth. Actually ship is tied to the berth using large mooring ropes or wires. Anchor is used away from the berth outside the harbour while waiting to come to berth.

കണ്ടെയിനറുകൾ രണ്ടു വലിപ്പം ഉള്ളത് ആണ്. ഒന്ന് ഇരുപത് അടി നീളം. മറ്റൊന്ന് നാൽപ്പത് അടി നീളം ഉണ്ടാകും. 20 feet, 40 feet എന്നാണ് പറയുന്നത്.

You guys think appointing IAS or IPS graduates to administer and manage sea ports and logistics would be effective and efficient. These officers are nothing but good at doing clerical work. Listening to the talk, this lady has no clue as to maritime trade, shipping and logistics.

For comparison, Sri Lanka's Colombo Port managing director has 18 years of experience in maritime shipping and project management education background. Our Vizhinjam MD provides generic statements with no insightful perspectives, which can be attributed to lack of experience in this field. We should prioritize appointing seasoned industry business leaders for such major projects.

@@rajans6857 Yes, she is intelligent, but for international mega project like Vizhinjam Port, we need a managing director with international business knowledge and industry experience. Then only this project will progress quickly and reach its real potential. Unfortunately, she doesn't have international business knowledge and industry experience.
