Kerry Packer emerged from the shadow of his father - and nine months in an iron lung as a childhood polio victim - to become Australia’s richest man and a powerful media baron. He started work loading newspapers at his father’s Daily Telegraph, but when it came to investing his inheritance, Kerry favoured television, casinos and land over newspapers. Internationally, he is best-known for unleashing the 1977 cricket revolution that transformed the game. Kerry Packer was a hands-on proprietor, philanderer, heavy smoker, gambler, philanthropist, spectacular deal-maker and brutal opponent, but steadfastly loyal to employees and associates he trusted and liked.

Fun fact: Aussie ambulances didn't carry defibrillators well into the 90's. When Packer had a heart attack he was lucky that the ambulance that responded had a personal defibrillator and he was saved. He then donated money so that all ambulances in NSW would be supplied with devices, which are sometimes called "Packer Whackers" after him

The best prime minister we never had. That wouldn't of been his style though. Kerry quite rightly seemed to loathe politics and politicians. Politicians however, should of listened more to KP, then we would of had a much richer, wealthier nation. His contribution to Australia is immense.

It’s about providing services. Trump went into office and had no idea how laws are written and passed, and absolutely no clue about basic civics and how government works. Besides, he wasn’t even a business man, he played one on tv. He strutted around pulling a serious face and yelled catch phrases thinking that’s how a tycoon acts. He’s like a kid who puts on daddy’s clothes, glasses, shoes, and carries his briefcase saying “look at me, I’m a businessman just like daddy!” Everything else he had done had turned to shit, like king Midas in reverse. He used his fathers money to launch asinine schemes that inevitably went pear-shaped. His business is all smoke and mirrors by overvaluing assets to con the banks into lending him money and then using that to entice investors, it’s all show and no substance, and when it turns to shit, have a fire sale of assets, grab as much cash as you can and then declare the business bankrupt, not personal bankruptcy, fleece the creditors by offering them cents in the dollar (if that), AND THEN claim all the losses on tax. Don’t forget the chaotic nature of his presidency with a record setting revolving door of cabinet appointees, multiple National security advisors, chiefs of staff, communications directors, not to mention all the “temporary” appointees who were temporary in name only because they would not pass the background checks or be approved by congress. Don’t forget the insane amount of bullshit that came out of his mouth, fake hurricane trajectories, crowd sizes, and how’s that health care package coming along that was supposed to be announced in “two weeks”, or infrastructure week? Is that wall finished yet? Repeal and replace Obama care? Seems pretty simple when you control all three branches of government, but I guess Twitter, calling into Fox News, “executive time” (code for browsing the internet while taking a shit), and rounds of golf got in the way. Let’s not forget the imaginary persecution complexes, funny that people start investigating you when all your campaign advisers go to prison, he drained the swamp by having all the scumbags work for him. The only true thing Donald Trump said was he was going to run the USA like one of his businesses; that is he shamelessly self promoted, left the country with $6 trillion tacked onto the national debt, while he golfed and held those stupid rallies. As for Kerry Packer, what makes you think him or his father would make a great prime minister? I’d hate to break it to you but the prime minister doesn’t just bark orders and his will is done like in a privately owned corporation. A government is a collective where the PM has to work with the cabinet and placate all the factions, work with the opposition and make compromises, and steer the ship as best they can trying to get the best outcome where needs of the many are met. It’s not a job suited for autocrats like Packer and his father. And for those delusional clowns that say “hE’s ThE tYpE oF bLoke I’d LiKe To HaVe A bEeR wItH”… he is the type of bloke who would sick his dogs on you for stepping on his property. Why on earth would anyone think someone like Packer would want to suck piss with Bazza and talk about the footy? Fuck me!
