I started with Kershaw over a decade ago, and added several models since. I stick with their USA made models, but appreciate the variety they offer for everyone.

Their best model in 2020 was the full carbon/m390 bareknuckle. Just sucks it was a sprint

Kershaw has always been a favorite of mine. They have always done a great job with quality control and their designs are usually pretty unique. The Norad is one that I don't have but really want to get. Such a great looking knife and everyone says it's very close to a ZT. Great video once again JT. Happy New Year's!🎉

I bought two Blurs (M4&30C, four Knockouts (M390), a 20CV Bareknuckle and a Dividend (Composite) in 2020, having never purchased a Kershaw before. (There wasn’t a lot else to do while/after dealing with COVID.) I guess I kinda thought Kershaws were beneath me. The point is, I love these knives and now carry one or two daily. And I’ve sold several of my more expensive, so-called “higher end knives” because I like the Kershaws better. I’ve enjoyed your channel throughout the past year and appreciate your sometimes differing points of view vs. other reviewers. Thank you!

I really appreciate that, thank you. One thing I'll add is that some of those knives in the $75-$100 range can have decent materials but they aren't so nice that you shy away from using them, and that sort of builds that sentimental attachment you get when you have a tool that you put use on. I've had that experience a lot with some of the "nicer" Kershaws.

I have to admire your dedication to the brand! I see more Kershaw on your channel than any other. I seem to remember a video about poor warranty service yet you are still sending them your $$ 😆 I haven’t bought a Kershaw in years but I’m considering giving them another chance. Your enthusiasm for the brand is contagious! Happy New Year!

@@JTsKnifeLife I had to go back and look to be sure. You did a video a year ago about Kershaw CF Natrix Warranty. “Not much good here”. I have not had good luck with Kershaw myself and remember watching that video.

I don't know if I would call them the best. You made a good case for them. There were just so many companies putting out a bunch of great knives. I of course could barely get a fraction of them. CJRB as an example. Off grid knives and Finch. I was greatly impressed by Kershaw doing the traditional knives early in the year. Glad I didn't have to decide a winner this year. For knives great for general life 2020 was awful.

Civivi Ortis is my favorite knife of the year. It joins the Kershaw Dividend ($25) on my top 3 budget knives along with the Kizer Dukes ($50). To me any company still raising their prices come the new year are losers and won't get my business.

@@JTsKnifeLife I went with the damascus/carbon fiber Ortis and I'm really happy I did. If you use the Slicey Dicey 10% coupon code it is $80 or $36 for the FRN version from WMT. It's going to replace the Dukes as my daily carry.

I definitely don't think Kershaw deserves to be lumped together with CRKT. Kershaw offers quality knives with quality materials (the launch series, models with 20cv) for under $100. That is something CRKT does not do. And their Factory Special models are reasonably priced. CRKT on the other hand, their 2021 line-up is giving us D2 (at high prices) but with - assisted opening. Seriously... I know you like the Squid but have you ever felt the need for one with an assisted opening?
@JTsKnifeLife
@JTsKnifeLife 3 жыл бұрын
There are some nice variations in the CRKT 2021 line, but no, a lot of it just doesn't interest me. The assisted.mechanism is supposedly an unique one, so i will be checking it out. But i don't need a Squid with a Flipper, though I'm sure it'll appeal to some.

As a slipjoint guy, I bought the Culpepper pretty much just so I could laugh at how shitty it was. But it's better than a Case at half the price.
@JTsKnifeLife
@JTsKnifeLife 3 жыл бұрын
Well, to any trained eye it's pretty inferior to a quality slipjoint. But I think it appeals to the people who want something that looks fairly nice but don't want to break the bank or even invest in that Case. Good entry level option.

I used to really take note of Kershaw and CRKT. Especially when I used to stop in at Big5, Not so much lately, for no reason really other than money. I have been wanting a decent buttersongbalifly so theirs has come up for consideration. I also have been wanting a Kershaw San Mai but closer to 3.5 or longer, I don't know their models at all anymore. I definitely want the 13, I did want the 5 but.... That new red one is pretty attractive but a lil' small maybe to me. The word "discontinue"(d) harms my brain. I can't normally ever get stuff when released, seems like most often than not = by the time I can get something it's all gone/sold-out and if found as an aftermarket sale it costs more and usually more than it should have ever been worth, unfortunately. As for the knives of 2020 fo-me hmmmm?,,,well... since I don't think it'd be right to say Spyderco, I liked a lot of the EF(and their rebadges) (no-one likes) even many pre 2020, and Ganzo(and their other companies) again many not appreciated by other collectors and also many pre20, BUTT most of all I'm gunna go with Rough Ryder, a lot from this year (as well as previous years) I have not yet acquired unfortunately like the aforementioned brands.
