I don’t agree with all of that, using the “keto” snacks ect, most are not anywhere near keto as they use net carbs and alcohol sugars subtraction to call it keto. A carb is a carb net carbs are still a higher carb count. Now if you need something like a diet soda to help you get away from reg soda so be it. But I had the same problem with too much fat, too many “net carbs” ect i did not lose weight in fact i gained weight. When I took a class from Dr Westman from Duke Unv He is the top low carb doc in the US, and followed is prescription keto, I started losing, down 42 lbs. he says eat real food, limit fats to 6 tab a day, 4 oz of cheese, and only 20 carbs. You don’t have to do the “clean” Keto, as long as you keep carbs down to 20, limit the fat, 2 cups of salad and one cup of non starchy vegetable’s is all good. Too many companies are trying to cash in on keto, when in reality their food is far from it, with ingredients that spike your blood sugar ect. The point of keto is to keep you blood sugar from spiking in the first place. This is a good video and a good reminder of how not to do some things that people recommend. Thanks for telling your story, like you and I many people do the same thing then give up keto because it didn’t work. It does my bloodwork rocked but I had gained weight. Thank you! The big mistake so many people make (due to lots of misinformation) is that as your weight goes down, you _need_ to reduce the fat in your diet, too, because you want your body to burn YOUR fat, not the fat you eat. You need to replace the fat macros with protein macros as your weight drops. This also naturally reduces calories, as you don't need as many to maintain bodily functions as your weight goes down.

Totally agree, keto = fat eating. Most efficient way to run your body , so if you load up with fat energy, you need to burn it, so don't eat crap loads of heavy cream and butter if you aren't doing lots of exercise. This girl looks like she's doing keto so she can eat lots of fat. I think people need to think about why they're eating keto style. I have been following IF and Keto for a few years now and I have lost a lot of weight (-170lbs). I credit IF for most of it but I found Keto really helps control my inflammation. I went from at least 2 parts of my body being in constant pain on any given day to zero. Your video (which was great!) just made me look into why I get a stuffy nose after I eat dairy and it is likely inflammation! Not severe enough to make my wrists and hands or knees shut down but enough that I can't breathe through my nose for a couple of hours (and if it is doing that then there is definitely inflammation going on elsewhere in my body). I am going to cut out dairy for a few days and see how it goes. Thanks!

My go-to sweet treat from the beginning is just enough two-good mixed berry yogurt to thinly coat 1/4 cup of blueberries with a tablespoon of whipped cream...As I lose weight, I know it will also have to go. But for now, it has tremendously helped me with my sweet tooth! I knew from the beginning all the keto desserts were for people who had already lost weight and then only occasionally. That's a pretty good list. Thanks for sharing it. Even then, after five years, I'm pretty much high-protein, low-carb, and rarely in deep ketosis. I think my body has just gotten good at using ketones so they rarely show up deeply in my blood unless I fast over a day and get a lot of cardio. I'm good with that, actually, as long as my glucose stays low, or if it spikes it doesn't spike too high and stay up long. At this point that's what matters most to me. I've taken to severely limiting cheese and nuts, and pretty much all processed "keto" food is basically a trap or otherwise an issue for me. 95% of the time, I make something wildly simple that's mostly meat and a little cruciferous or very keto-friendly veg. I do get an avocado just about every day in the world that's not a whole day of fasting. After a workout, I allow myself a collagen shake with berries and aminos, and I can see my glucose go right up and right back down. I've avoided keto bread and tortillas (I make pretty simple keto sandwich thins for burgers), but I have to admit a couple times a year I like to pick up a pack of keto hot dog buns into which I can put clean, 100% grass-fed polish sausages from Teton Waters Ranch. It's too bad I can't find clean buns, because they're just too much of a hassle to try to make, and I've never found a great recipe anyway. PS: Sometimes, I'll just make a "bunless polish sandwich" instead, with the polish sausages, caraway, a slice of swiss and top with deli mustard and sauerkraut. I eat that out of a small casserole dish with a knife and fork.

I honestly think Keto/Low Carb for men vs women is very different as well as other factors of course. My sister in-law brought up a good point about eating whats in season & based on your location from the equator.(vit. D factor) Also fat has two/three times the energy of carbs so logically you need much less to meet energy requirements especially when you are fat adapted. also, eat slower y'all, 20 min. before your tummy lets the noggin know it's full. Don't forget about fasting/level of exercise in the entire keto equation as well. I like bamboo fiber for more authentic baked goods. Pricey but I highly recommend a try. I barely touch fat dough anymore. the ole change it up fairly often to keep your body guessing is always a good rule of thumb. nothing tastes better than when you crave it after letting it go for a time😋 much debate still on the consequences of insulin spikes, lectins, meat profiles, you name it but it's all good. Understanding Inflammation in all it's forms has been one of the best topics to come from all this nutritional study/lifestyle changes which is great. also, I make milk from heavy cream & macadamias R incredible!

This is why I find hyperketosis beneficial for breaking through weight plateaus or shedding those last few pounds on the keto diet. Everything in this video I can relate to. I have been suffering from digestive issues . I just recently stopped eating cheese. It makes me sick. Very nauseous and bloated. Also I have been drinking more water and have noticed I am not feeling hungry all the time. I also noticed that when I do eat keto sugary cravings go up and my digestive issues seem to get worse. So I'm thinking that I am sensitive to dairy. And keto sugars have taken their toll on my digestive tract. Thank you so much for this video. It has confirmed why I was feeling so bad after eating a meal. I love your channel and recipes. You have really helped me stay on keto. You are very knowledgeable and I truly appreciate your videos. 😊

The best part of this video was sodium plus insulin equals high blood pressure! ❤ everything else was bit over top complicated for the majority of people to understand. 😊 Frequency, amounts, and time eaten is what helps sustain ketosis and coming out of ketosis once or twice a month has some advantages. 😮

I have a wonderful dietitian and the first thing she told me not to eat was dairy. Her reasoning is based on how they raise the cows, what they feed them and doctor them with, and the fact dairy is made for baby cows to gain weight. I am not perfect and still occasionally eat cheese on a burger, or I have dairy with coffee at church. But on the whole I’ve seriously limited it. And I think it has helped me lose weight

I'm right there with you. Keto for about 6 years now. I have gone to just simple whole foods for the most part. I just can't tolerate those keto breads. Those high fiber "breads" really seemed to cause intestinal problems for me. It's nice not having to run for the restroom unexpectedly anymore. Keeping it simple can be delicious too. I still enjoy dairy thankfully.

A discovery for me- to hydrate myself, I add lemon or lime slices and cucumber slices in my water . I chill it over night sans sweetening. The next day, I deink it over ice. The amount that I drink is calculated as my weight divided 2 equals the ounces of solutions. For example : 150 lbs./2 = 75 oz. It works for me... I am satisfied🙂. You can do some research on the benefits.

It always seemed too tedious to do those fat bombs or counting macros etc. Sometimes keeping it simple makes it so much easier with less mistakes. The only thing ive struggled with is i lost my bum muscles. I know its vain but ive always had a great bum even when very slim until keto. The problem with moving into a keto diet is that we're so used to overconsuming foods -- giant servings, eating frequently, snacks, etc. When you're truly in a state of ketosis, you don't need to eat as frequently and definitely not the same volume, but it's easy to continue eating in the same MANNER when you start because of old habits. It's hard to flip the mindset that a very small portion of food, less frequently, WILL satiate you and meet your nutritional needs when going into the Keto lifestyle.

I have been eating low carb for years...more of the Atkins style than Keto, unless doing a cut. I really think this is an important video! I fell into the trap of eating all the wonderful pre packaged keto snacks and treats AND using the recipes I see on KZbin for delicious meals. It's all wonderful BUT, I slowly started to gain weight, I wasn't weighing myself often so it just slowly crept on, and then...carb creep. I am so frustrated with myself, and embarrassed, because I just ignored all the signs. Now, I am on a strict Keto and calorie monitoring cut. I appreciate the honest KZbinrs that are saying 🚩🚩🚩 🛑, you probably can't eat all that and have this work long term. I agree with the comments that what works for males may not work for females. Yes.

Thanks! I totally get what you're saying. My fiancé and I are on the keto diet to shed some pounds, and I noticed that whenever I go overboard with cheese and heavy cream, the scale goes in the wrong direction (sometimes up to a pound!). I used to think that I could eat all the cheese and cream I wanted since they're keto-friendly, but I realized that too much extra fat was derailing my progress. I've since cut back on the cheese and heavy cream, and it's made a big difference. It's true that cheese, heavy cream, and sour cream are keto, but it really depends on the person and how many calories you need. My fiancé can eat the same amount of heavy cream and still lose weight, but for me, it's a no-go. So, we've learned that we need to figure out what keto approach works best for us individually. It's not about having an unlimited supply of cheese and fat; there's definitely a limit to it.

Same here for the most part. 1. heavy cream - causes me to gain weight too 2. dairy - still eat cheese for pizza (no crust) but not much else other than butter (which is barely dairy) 3. butter - no check - I do not eat straight butter or more butter than I want mainly for cooking and making hot wing sauce 4. sweetener - stevia with powdered "Pure Sweet" brand only - and only for coffee/tea - heaping 1/2 teaspoon per gallon --- electrolyte - dash of salt (MORTON, IODIZED - cheap) in my coffee but not much used for anything else normally --- 5. packaged foods - don't do them 6. sweets/treats/chocolate - don't do them 7. certain foods - possibly differ by person

Thanks for this video. I have discovered most of the same things that you speak about. My hubby and I have been living the Keto diet for 6 years now. We love Keto and would never go back, especially to all the processed foods, so why go to processed Keto foods?

The biggest thing I hear people say that they crave during keto is crunchy, starchy foods. So many processed foods and especially chips contain not only MSG but also disodium inosinate and guanylate which make MSG even more satisfying and addicting to eat. Not partaking in those foods is one of the best things you can do to help cancel out carb addictions, plus it'll help you get away from processed seed oils.

Annie, this video is so timely for me on my Keto journey! I'm not sure what's causing inflammation to flare up in my body again along with little to no weight loss the last few months, but I think I'm going to cut back on cheese & dairy for one. Butter too. What do you think about "Vitamin Water Zero Sugar" for replenishing electrolytes? (JSYK: I'm also been on Anastrozole for about a year now. )
@primrozie Жыл бұрын
I can't have ANY soy because of inflammation. I used to buy Great Value pizza sauce and used it in some quickie meals like turkey pepperoni, mozarella cheese and Tbl pizza sauce on low carb tortilla folded in half and nuked till cheese melted. No more. I'm just making my own out of tomato paste. Saving the GV jars. Always read ingredient labels, more "low carb" tortillas have soy in them too. It's everywhere 😞. The 1 Net Carb bread too. Pretty soon I'll be making everything from scratch.

The video I was afraid to watch but did anyway 😅 First of all, your skin is gorgeous and glowing Annie!!! This video is pretty much me to a tee, including the heavy cream in 50 cups of coffee per day🤣 I’ve been feeling like dairy is affecting me poorly but I’m still in denial. I’ve given up pasta, bread, rice, pizza, cereal etc. I love, love, love my milk, cheese, butter and heavy cream. I’m just not ready to give it up on top of everything else, but I honestly believe it’s the only thing thats going to get me to my goal. Forty pounds down, perfect labs and most days mentally clear-headed. The last ten pounds and full mental clarity elude me no matter what I try. The ONLY left for me to do is lose the dairy. 😢 Please tell me it isn’t so 😭😂

Mmmm, I love heavy cream...but I don't use much. And I don't know if you have tried raw milk cheese, but that stuff is awesome. And Kalona milk products are AMAZING. The low temp pasteurization and no homogenizing leaves it so much more naturally intact. I had a hard time with milk products, then I found Kalona. I love ALL the Kalona stuff - I only wish their plain yogurt was thicker. I have the same issue with chocolate chips that use sugar alcohols and stevia. I tried some that use dates for sweetener, and they are pricey but I need so few to feel satisfied that it's totally worth it. Plus they use real cocoa beans and not just cocoa liquor, which is a way better taste. I'm shocked at how many of the "healthier" chocolate chips are made from chocolate liquor. Most of them taste gross.

I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago in a major operation. When I went on Keto I had to be very careful about what fats I consumed. The dairy was the worst on my digestive system. Cream cheese would make me so sick and cream cheese mixed with heavy cream was just as bad or worse. Anything that was very dense in fats would just about kill me. I did lose the weight that I needed to lose but part of it was from being sick. I’m on a low carb diet today. Just meats and some low carb vegetables and berries. Keep it simple.
