Had clinical depression, went on keto and off my meds. No depression and down 70 lbs. I love how he expressed it’s not for everyone and to continue therapy and medication with medical support. I am so happy to see it has helped others. ☺️

After a lifetime of struggle with depression, I went gluten free, then grain free, then very low carb. My depression evaporated and has never returned. I'm so grateful to have found this. I will be low carb for the rest of my life! Only after my discovery, did I begin to find affirmations like this interview. I did read about a parole officer who had great results with parolees who agreed to eliminate sugar and junk food. They lost their aggressions and anger, and basically they were able to live normally. Halleluja!

I, too, have to give my testimony. I have literally been living in depression for the past 10+ years. My emotions have been an exhausting roller coaster! I listened to another one of his podcasts and decided to give the Keto a try for my mental health. And so far, it's been almost a month and this is probably the most mentally stable I have ever been in my entire life. My eyes have brightened up and I feel so light and free. My cravings are practically gone because I would not trade a piece of cake for my peace of mind ever again in my entire life. Im going to stay on this path and by the grace of God, I am set free for good! This may not be a solution for everyone, but if you are curious and at your wits end, I say give the low-carb life a try!

My mother has schizoaffective disorder (diagnosed in 2008) and dementia diagnosed beginning of 2017. Three years ago I became a health coach and helped her change her diet to a ketogenic diet and fasting lifestyle. Her Hemoglobin A1C came down from 9.9 to 8.2 within 2 months and now it’s 6.6 (last checked this October), her head scan is inconclusive as far as dementia compared to 4 years earlier, she’s lost weight, she’s off insulin shots (since the very beginning). Her kidney doctor insists in keeping her on low dose blood pressure meds. although her markers are doing so well. She’s more energetic, not forgetful or depressed as before. She continues to take her psych meds . She’s had no crisis since 2018 (when I started her on this diet and lifestyle).

I was on 2 different SSRIs in June of this year. I have completely come off of these meds on the keto diet. I did have the help and guidance of my doctor. This was my idea not his but he helped me titrate off slowly. I feel better now mentally than I did on both meds. This works well people.

I have suffered with winter depression “all my life.” Been on meds for 30+ years. This is the first year I forgot to start my med protocol. I started keto in April 2021 after I survived Covid, to recover from damage done by that disease. I took in no nutrition for 2-3 weeks while ill (not hospitalized as there was no room unless I was near death) and all meds were stopped. My blood sugar and hypertension came down and stabilized at a “normal” levels even while I was ill! I was prescribed carbs by my doctor to “regain my energy” but my BG and HT returned so I found info online why not eating may have helped those symptoms; which led me to keto diets. I decided to refeed that way. I have 1 long Covid symptom left. After watching this video the first time, when I look back, I realized that winter didn’t agree with me when I was 7 years old! Over the decades the depression was lingering into the rest of the year and I was getting ready to change medications again and adjust the protocol. Thank you so much for this video!! What a revelation for me! No signs of any depression this year!! My psychiatrist is watching me very closely this winter. (And, off all other prescriptions with blood test results in the normal range after six months ketovore.) Feels like a miracle.

Since i started living a keto lifestyle couple years ago i definitely felt like i could handle stress immensely better than before which usually had me depressed to a certain level. I was also constantly using pain killers coz of bad joints. Today i feel so much better and i do not need any pills to get me thru the day. Love it. Will not go back to the way i used to live.

I had binge eating disorder for over 15 years. Tried every diet, nothing worked. Triggers were all high carb foods. I felt like an alcoholic and feared this would never end. Three years ago I started keto eating and transitioned to carnivore diet. I feel like a huge bag of potatoes was lifted off my shoulders. There are no cravings and, luckily, I eat all the foods I really like but previously avoided (because they "cause cancer"), for example, beef and pork and offal. When I was binge eating my whole energy and thoughts were focused on when and what to eat. All the time. I could not manage my thoughts, they were persistent and obsessive. I thought I needed "stronger will" to overcome them and eat like, say, my husband, who is able eat just one biscuit, but I had to finish the pack and continue with something else. I tried to practice my "strong will" but failed miserably each and every time until I changed the food I was eating. I have NO FOOD RELATED THOUGHTS at all. I eat when I am hungry, and it happens twice a day. I do not salivate at the sight of a cake or sweets, and my brain is like re-programmed. However, whenever, and it happens now very very rarely, may be twice a year, I eat some carbs, even vegetables, the "thoughts" reappear. I don't follow them any more but know that if I returned to my previous way of eating, the binge eating cycle would definitely return.

One of the biggest surprises since going keto and doing intermittent fasting are their effect on depression and anxiety. It’s been a profound mood stabilizer, and it’s probably due to a variety of factors including increased gaba in the brain, the stabilization of energy from eliminating spikes and drops in blood sugar, and the effects of ketones themselves which blunt hunger and appetite which likely makes you feel more calm in general. I didn’t think that it was even possible for me to have stable moods, but it’s been a surprising side effect of adopting a ketogenic lifestyle.

I think I’m allergic to carbs…fell off my keto….ate a bunch of carbs and felt low mood, waking up at night, inflammation. Did a 42 hour fast and back in keto….mood better, calmer, less anxious, more focussed. It’s better then any med big pharma can make. But truly frightening what they have done to our food supply and marketing fast food etc.

I am exactly the same. Bread is like heroin to me. Once I get it I am in high then low then more and more is required. But if I increase animal fat and fast I am back on track and feel better and more focused.

I really appreciate how this doctor stayed true to the idea that we need more clinical trials before we can prescribe it as a first line attempt to treat some conditions. After being fooled by the food industry and its shoddy science for most of my life, I'm only going to follow the gold standard science for my own health. I feel like we have the concrete evidence of low carb diets helping with weight loss and metabolic health which is why I switched to Keto/low carb to help me with those issues. If this turns out to be preventative for Altimeters and other mental illness, that would be great.

I’m on my first week of the ketogenic plan. I am using a mood graph to track my moods and sleep each day. I cannot wait to see how I feel AND if I lose the excess weight. My medications keep me from severe mood swings but the moodiness has always still been a problem. I pray this helps my bipolar symptoms and that it helps others with their struggles as well🙏

Re: client cannot afford keto eating. Dr Ken Berry and nurse Neisha dedicate part of their Monday night KZbin Q & A sessions to suggested purchases of animal products for the impoverished. Canned meats, cheap eggs, hot dogs and bologna, sardines, 10# tubes of ground beef are their suggestions. They say that the cheapest, lowest grade animal products are always better than processed starches and junk food. I can get 2,000 calories of animal products at my local dollar store for for under $4. No shame!

used this diet to recover from anorexia, myself. lemme say, was way better than trying to eat grains and veggies and nuts and shit people tried to push down my throat. was rough as hell and took 3 years, though. the hardest part was i had no idea i was storing calories and didn't start gaining till i worked out. it took 4000-6000 calories, though, because I was in starvation for years.

The reduction of inflammation, improvements of hormones and neural transmitters, with the ketogenic diet seems to help improve mood, thinking, energy, and reduces pain. It is a healthy way of eating. It seems to me, even if a doctor feels compelled to treat with conventional evidence based medicine, to fail to mention the possible benefit from ketogenic, reduced refined foods, exercise, along with the standard firstline of defense seems to me to be wrong. Dietary intervention or information should not be totally ignored just because a patient is not asking for help to lose weight or does not need to lose weight. We know too much, even if only through experiences, to withhold the information. Granted, patients may not change their way of eating without support; however, the first step could be awareness, they deserve that.

Am I less prone to depression on my near-ketogenic diet? Maybe. I wouldn’t swear to it. I’ve been on various antidepressants in the past, but feel no need for them now. Nothing near conclusive in my case.

I did eat chocolate about once a month My diet was better than most I think I believe the elimination of grains (bread in particular) and vegetables that I seem to have a sensitivity to were the key to my best health

McDonalds burgers are cooked in HIGHLY inflammatory oils, so ordering a burger 🍔 without the bun is not as simple/safe as it sounds.

Eating out anywhere is difficult, but sometimes necessary. Things happen. I avoid it most of the time. I carry gluteneze which helps with cross contamination. It does not work perfectly. Just because they say it is gluten free does not mean it is. I ordered real cheese. The knife they used to cut it had crumbs on it. However, thanks to the gluteneze I was not sick for a week. Just uncomfortable a few days. The crumbs were face down on the plate. Hidden. Took a bite and had wheat in my mouth. I also carry ox bile that I find helps with the lamp oils. You know that the lamp oils will be in your meal. So much easier to eat at home where it is safe.

Last year it was found out that serotonin antidepressants do not work. They discovered that there were people who had low serotonin who were NOT depressed and some depressed patients who had high serotonin. In true depression these antidepressants take 4-6 weeks to work. Was it the patient's own body that started the improvement? Did seeing the doctor regularly and feeling someone is interested have an effect?

My antidepressant caused me to lose weight. It was a side effect. I went from overweight to normal weight without trying. Now, I'm a much lower weight due to a combination of deliberate effort and anxiety.

@@goodhealth3020 A very common one Fluoxetine. I was on it seven years and decided that I wanted to try something else. Citalopram. Citalopram increased my appetite. No weight gain since I noticed the increase in appetite and stopped eating at night. With Fluoxetine, I have to force myself to eat. It was exhausting. I was glad to be on something that increased my appetite. I find it easier to eat less when hungry than to eat more when not hungry. I'm now on neither.

( VERY IMPORTANT VIDEO FROM EXPERTS BELOW) Almost all doctors are making mistakes in diagnosing and treating this problem. They were never trained properly in the details of this nutritional deficiency, and are missing critical information. Failure to diagnose this or treat it correctly ( correct protocol is described in the video below ) can result in severe injury to the patient because of ongoing NERVE DEMYELINATION.. B12 deficiency causes a cascade of *seemingly unrelated symptoms* because it affects the entire body ) Almost all Doctors and nurses don't understanding how to *correctly* Test for it, they're doing several things incorrectly, testing, parameters, treatment protocol, necessary things that work together.... treating it incorrectly can HURT YOU. Your comment and from a lot of videos I have watched over the years of doing this diet change under a GP's supervision. I live in Australia and my journey from 100kg down to 83kg at present and now 4 weeks into Carnivore has been one of self education. Trying to talk to my GP is a non starter. They look at you as being bonkers, that you would consider diverting from THE HEALTH GUIDELINES is reckless. It is people like you and dozens of others on u-tube that have changed my life. I think trying to change the health guidelines is a waste of time when big pharma and the refined food industry has such a big input into what is healthy. U-tube has now become my GP because I do not trust my doctor.

I disagree on the price of a keto diet. Vegetables, eggs, meat and cheese are cheap in comparison to biscuits, bread and other processed foods especially when they're being snacked on all day.

It's so ridiculous to hear doctors complain how little to none education on nutrition they got in college... considering that professional nutritionists-dietitians are taught all the wrong things, like eat trans fats instead of saturated, sugar in moderation is fine, tank up on starches even if you are a diabetic, etc etc. Meaning that had these doctors received nutritional education this disastrous advise is what they would be giving to their patients instead. Why even complain about it, then?

It's depressing Dr Palmer is more concerned about litigation than being able to help patients. What has the medical field come to for that to happen? I started Keto because my health was failing and I had metabolic syndrome. It worked for me health wise and I haven't felt this good for many years. The bonus for me was my deep depression practically disappeared and I now have a positive outlook on life. Lots of push back from my medical team in spite of all my markers improving without drug intervention. Walking away from the medical world and hoping I can get off all meds especially now we have this covid scam to contend with.

Doctors don't come up with their defensive approach to medicine on their own. Why does no-one ask why modern people have to blame/sue their doctors for everything in their lives. Ask why the unholy alliance of lawyers and querulous patients have ruined the practice of medicine. Doctors have never driven the risk-averse defensive approach to healthcare

I thought that the whole treatment diet for epilepsy was HIGH FAT/low carb. Maybe I'm confused, but I know that FAT is GOOD! Ketosis is GOOD!
