I actually need 100-120 grams of protein. When I would get only 60-80g of protein my periods stopped. I thought I was in menopause but my hormone lab tests said I was not in menopause. Once I went up to .8-1g per pound of body weight, my hormones normalized. I was actually in amenorrhea because my body said, oh, you are in starvation mode and we must stop your cycle. So when protein went to 100+ grams, my body started functioning normally again.

I talked My vegetarian wife into going carnivore last November and she gained 10 lb. She was not happy about this and decided to try a different diet 2 months ago. Instantly got depressed and started having all sorts of pains in her body. She decided to go back onto carnivore in April and she claims she feels so much better, has dropped 10 lb and all her pain and her knee is gone. Just like your guest mentioned I think her body was healing at first

When you go carnivore, your body may need to gain weight initially, in order to nourish the body, because the body was suffering from lack of nutrients. So the body will gain weight before it finds a healthy equilibrium, before the body can level out to a normal weight.

Also depends on what food is being consumed. Highly processed foods and seed oils are absolutely the worst for us, but some people think any fat is "good" as long as they are low- carb and that they can eat all these processed keto-friendly products. Stick to real, whole food and low-carb lifestyle can work wonders 😊

I was a vegetarian my whole life, from birth to age 29. I started carnivore 3.5 months ago. Benefits include: -Lost 32 pounds (187lb--> 155lb) -Sleeping significantly better -Way more energy -My skin is almost completely clear for the first time in a decade. -Healed my hunger and satiety cues -Very easy to adhere to, even during parties and eating out. There are always (delicious) options, even in a pinch. Carnivore diet is the best choice I ever made for my body and health!

🌻🌿🐕🐾🍎🍀😎🐾🐕🌺 I've been on carnivore for 12 weeks. I lost 5 pounds slowly in 1st month (175 to 170) and nothing the last 2 months. I figured my 69 year old body was healing. so I stuck to meat, eggs, and a little dairy. I still put heavy cream and a bit of sweetener in my large a.m. coffee. Sadly, I still drink 8 to 10 ounces of coke zero daily (which doesn't cause cravings for sugary food). While listening to this video, I weighed myself. OMG I AM DOWN TO 167 POUNDS. Its a miracle. I am pleased. Yippee...Going for a walk with my dogs.

I went into carnivore for the only intention of healing my body. I had Celiac disease for 34 years. Years of constant diarrhea, bloating, nausea along with fibromyalgia and CRPS, also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. A severe nerve, muscle and nerve disease. Causing chronic pain. I also suffered from Barrett's esophagus. I had burned up my esophagus as a result of CD and excessive use of Ibuprofen. I did go gluten free and dropped from 188 to 142. Gaining back to 155. I saw the carnivore diet for gut health health and started on February 6th of this year. 2 months later I am down to 122!!🎉 Most important my gut issues are gone!! I am letting my body heal. My gut, my hormones, and all that needs to be healed. No carbs and no sugars were gone because going GF in the beginning of 2021 made this very easy to slip into. One great change is the mental fog is completely gone!🎉. I know can sit in my other pain and really listen to my pain and understand what is going on. My meds have decreased but some I will have to continue to take. I'm feeling the inflammation reduce tremendously. We have to pay attention closely to our bodies. I'm 57 and this is a lifestyle for me. I so love all your videos and your energy. Thanks to your guest. And I am walking now as well!! Peace and Blessings to you all and to your partner 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I am 66 and can totally relate to the life of coming up with 3 wonderful square meals a day for me and my family. I'm still doing it a lot due to raising grandchildren. Though I eat so simple with meat, eggs, and some dairy, I've yet to completely get the rest of my family on board. This was a terrific video that I thoroughly enjoyed and find I am still picking up good advice after 28 months of animal based eating.

My healing was hormonal. The first 90 days on carnivore ( after being stuck at the same weight/measurements for months while on keto) my menstrual cycle went into a frenzied overdrive. It had been incredibly heavy for years, but these healing months were 20x worse, plus additional weeks of breakthrough bleeding. Went to doc to determine if I had a fibroid, and thankfully not. I was pretty anemic after all that. Now that my body has healed and hormones adjusted, everything is GLORIOUS. If I had known it could be like this, I'd have gone carnivore JUST for the better menstrual cycles. Forget about the bonus weight loss.

I do single day fat fasts, and they work well for me. Beyond 24 - 36 hours I don't feel "amazing" anymore. I am also lean already, so I think it's probably our bodies letting us know we don't need to just fat fast, but need some protein too. But one day fat fasts a few times a month make me feel really energized. I also do the 1 tbsp of butter right before bed and it makes me sleep like a baby. My cortisol got a little out of whack in menopause, and this took care of it.

I appreciated all the wisdom that Anita shared today. One thing that I have noticed as I've been on my own keto/carnivore journey is that very little good information is provided for women over 65. What is workable for a 20, 30, 40, and 50 year old is not as workable at 71. Even the info provided by medical and nutritional experts we follow on KZbin etc, is geared toward a generalized younger demographic. I would love to see more information for healthy aging with a carnivore lifestyle.

I agree 100% with the HEALING of the body first. I was insulin resistant for 40 years and had no idea. I can’t sleep at night. I’m absolutely nocturnal. The sun comes up and my eyes close!😂🤣😂🤣🤣. I was at a plateau for over 6 months after losing a little over 60 lbs. I was almost ready to give up when I added a little more fat. I can’t eat butter, butter bites and such. I have to add fat in cooking and eat fatty foods. It worked. I’ve stared losing but very slowly. But I’m thinking if my body hasn’t worked in harmony for 40 years it may take longer to heal completely. I feel better every day. And even though I’m old I’m not in a rush. The turtle won the race! 😂🤣😂🤣😂 Oh Anita, just your mention of drinking warm milk at bed time brought back a vivid memory of me gagging. It was a nightmare for me. This was one of my favorite videos from either of y’all!! I’m 53 and have lost, over 4 years because of struggling to stay carnivore in social situations…BUT….I HAVE lost 45lbs! Actually glad it was kinda slow because I don’t want loose skin…but I still have about 35-40 lbs to go. This high fat just resonates with me because I have a couple of autoimmune issues to deal with & a gut issue to heal. I was trying to keep track of calories at 1600-ish….but with high fat…you can’t get enough protein at that level. Now I’ve been eating at about 80-85% upped calories to like 2100-2400 😳 And yes…no weight loss, but no weight gain…and after the first couple of adjustment weeks…I feel great and feel more energy! I do think we have some healing to do before our bodies can release more weight! Keep the faith, y’all!!! 🙏❤️ Edit: I read and have seen other commentators say it takes between 3-6 MONTHS to get fat adapted. But the trick is to eat cold butter and/or cooled fatty meat to start and even with that, digestively…it took about 6 weeks for my system to better handle the extra fat. 👍🏻

Please don’t fast or do one meal a day at first. This is a process and you have to adjust to it. I went full force into carnivore with fasting and ended up in the hospital. After my experience, I would say someone just starting may need three smaller meals, then as your body adjusts you will go to two, then maybe one. YOUR body will tell you when to change. You won’t be hungry. I’m do 2 meals now with fasting of 16-18 hours. Remember you have to do you. All of our bodies are different and function differently!

@Jamie Schlegel I see. That is a lot of begin with, perhaps. Is it worth initially just trying to go by taste, so stop when it stops tasting good? Animal fat is supposed to be pretty good so fatty meat would be a good balance. That's what I think, logically - if I'm eating a lot more meat with fat, then that's a healthier balance than if I just ate loads of butter. I eat a bit of butter with my eggs and meat now. But I prefer to buy fattier meat. No issues so far but then again, I'm still a newbie.

Thank you so much for this interview! I too have been through menopause on low carb and have had no symptoms since my last cycle 5 years ago; I have not caught any C virus symptoms; and My osteoarthritis pain is so much better. Batch cooking meat is amazing. I always have food available. Just this morning, my husband told me that he loves pork belly!! I am 18/6 with a 24hr fast once or twice a month.

I really appreciate all that was said here especially as, like your guest I am pushing 65 myself. I know I do just fine on 75 grams (TDE) of protein a day (even building muscle with a very small amount of resistance training) but kept getting freaked out when I heard people like NWJ say I needed far more or I will be malnourished. I too had bowel urgency with an ounce of butter in my hot drink so am going to try the 1 tablespoon Anita limits hers to.

Carnivore here for one year. Have had to REDUCE my FAT intake and do protein sparing modified fasting to lose weight I have gained (5 lbs). Didn’t have much to lose initially. Hearing myriads of carnivore KZbin videos on importance of consuming more fatty meats and butter now has my realizing not all of us can thrive on high fat. Now feeling I have more energy since reducing the high fat intake.

And in case the doctor doesn't ask, tell him what your diet has been like.

I was told that by eating less than what your body requires puts certain people into starvation mode where their body stops them from losing weight and basically they hold on to all the fat in your body because genetically their body thinks that it's starving.

I started carnivore diet today with 20-4 fast. I cooked my chicken breast, prawns in lamb fat, added 2 boiled egg and made 3 meals. Let's see how it goes. I think I put too much lamb fat in there, might get the runs lol, but if I cant finish all the fat then I'll save it. I've lost 45kg since having my son with D+E. Now stuck at 60, GW is 50. So I have 10kg to lose with carnivore diet, and will transition to keto.

We need to understand that sometimes "I need more variety" is a manifestation of food-as-entertainment disordered eating. Just as some folks can be addicted to volume eating, others eat in response to stress or depression, it can be worth examining your beliefs around using food for pleasure/amusement/entertainment. If every meal has to titillate your palate or beckon you to the table, look more closely

Hello to my two favorite sweet people. This video is spectacular. With so much info, thank you both so so much. Iam wanting to do the weight loss program, I want to feel better. You both are so inspirational and I think I can do this. I watch several different carnivore and keto channels to get the understanding of this type of loosing weight. Iam 77 now with disabling problems that prevent me from walking any distance, but I have a walker now that have brakes and a seat that lets me sit and rest a little when I do set out walking down my sons long driveway. So now I have to sit down and figure out an eating plan. So, I want to thank both of you with my whole heart for your dedication to helping others. Marilyn Queen from New Jersey ❤

Since starting diet my blood sugars are stable and in low range all the time and thats unheard of for me as type 2 diabtetic and, that's weaned off all medications. My goal is to reverse diabetes completely and losse the tummy before menopause because uts known to add weight arround the middle for women. That would be terrible for my health if that happens. God willing this is the best advise and i can live like this and become healthy full time. Wishing everyone the best on this carnivore diet.😊

I also had no symptoms with menopause other than my period stopping. I even lost 27kgs within 6 months recently without any problems eating high protein/low carbs and moderate fat. Sorry but many of us went through an excruciating ordeal with menopause. Never had many hot flashes or flushes but just about everything else...severe anxiety, depression, loss of sleep, emotional wreck, lack of concentration, attention span, increased pain and arthritis, quick to anger and change of mood, loss of emotional control...to the point of getting fired from my job. I had a complete nervous breakdown and had to go on disability. But my mom, who's still alive at age 90, says she never had any problems at all. Everyone is different.

I fortunately had very few symptoms going through menopause only getting the occasional hot flash and some sleep disturbances. So I was lucky in that regard. But 8 years post menopause and I started bleeding. I had a d&c and for a year all was fine until I started bleeding again. Apparently my uterine lining was thinking and was causing the bleeding. I had it removed and they tested the uterus and found precancerous cells. Glad I had it removed but menopause definitely is not easy for us women!

I started carnivore Jan 1 2023. As of today I have lost 16 lbs. I struggle with comparing my results with others. At 63 I had lots of gut issues and migraines. I finally pulled my head out of my ear and did the numbers. 1 lb a week is great for healing! I really had a histamine response to certain foods! Looking forward to total healing and wholeness! Keto/vore now. No amount of electrolytes would stop the wretched leg cramps. I am a happy great gramma in the road to recovery💪🏻🙏🏻♥️

With less elevated insulin on carnivore , our kidneys release sodium that was stored. This results in the leg cramps , and sometimes , "keto flu". Bone broth may help with the nutrients it provides.

I'm currently trying to get started eating the higher fat lower protein. I've played around with it in the past but would start craving carbs so I'd quit, not thinking about the fact that I have to go through the transition because my body has been burning glucose, even as a carnivor. I almost never have glucose reading under 100. I'm just figuring out that I'm eating too much protein. Hearing your testimony is encouraging. As far as your goals for your channel, yeah I'd say that was super duper successful! You have helped me and so many others on their journey. Thank you from the bottom of my health & heart.

Thank you for this lovely video! Speaking of eating tallow/suet I've discovered a super delicious way to do it! Roast and boil a batch of beef bones with high quality salt and maybe pepper / onion if you can tolerate it... after simmering the bones for several hours, let cool and put the whole pot in the fridge. The next day, remove and break up that hardened layer of fat, and oh my, is it ever delicious, salty, and seasoned with the beef stock with little flecks of meat in it! Yuuuummmmy!!

I really appreciate this interview with Ketogenic woman. I think her point about being obese for so long is REALLY important. I have been mainly meat based for a few years (I fall off once in awhile) I have lost almost 90 pounds but it is slow. I have done the ketone testing and I can hardly get into ketosis and I am STRICT!!! I am on day 23 of the BBB &E challenge and I am only at 1.1 (GKI = 3.8) It is disheartening because as we age we feel like we are running out of time. We want to be over this stage of trying to get our (weight = Health back) Carrying an extra 100 pounds is not healthy so the weight has to come off (right???) I can not imagine being a healthy size at the weight I am at so to me...YES the # on the scale matters.

Don't worry about ketones when you're in carnivore the body is optimal and uses energy efficiently. The ketones in the pee only happens whenever there is an excess in the body so it gets disposed.

I am going to work on the sleep and circadian rhythm… and see how this helps me. I am also in my 60’s and have been basically ketovore for 9 months. I may have to do some tweaking because I find myself backing off the meat and wanting more cheese and cream… probably not so good. At 63 I need to build my lean muscle mass, bone density and connective tissue to avoid the walker and keep mobile..So I want lots of protein, esp with the leucine shift requiring more protein with aging. The protein aims for ideal weight is like a BMI. It doesn't take into account bone size, muscle mass and fat composition. Nor age since as we get older we need more protein than younger ppl to synthesize muscle building. Since carnivore, I have lost fat, but definitely gained more muscle as well which improves health.
