This is part of break out training to improve the positions of the Turkish getup. Also super useful for martial arts and wrestling arts.

Truly one of the few trainers I know who is both serious and funny at the same time. We're gonna do ALL the hip-snaps! :)))) Love your channel. It helps me in my quest to learn about kettlebelling and get better in understanding what a human body needs to stay healthy.

Thanks for the thumb back explanation. That's something that I've been missing, and thumb forwards is probably the reason why I've felt some elbow tendon strain during some kettle bell training.
@SamSung-pm5bw
@SamSung-pm5bw 4 жыл бұрын
Thumbs forward also puts a sizable strain on the bicep which will injure it if you go too heavy too fast.

Mark, Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I just started on Kettlebells two days ago. Watching other people's videos showed me the technique, but didn't explain it very well. Watching the videos you've made has already corrected many of my very early mistakes right away.

Great explanation on how to avoid pulling an arm-bar on yourself. I love the TGU and I have to admit I'm quite adept at it, and it's part of EVERY workout, including days with (otherwise) only doing steel mace. Some gout in my right big toe has made getting into proper position with that right leg rearward harder lately tho, and these breakdowns are definately something I'll try.

I just tried doing a standing clean with the thumb pointed backwards and I found it a lot easier to clean compared to my usual stance of positioning the bell side-to-side and using and overhand grip. Cheers for the instruction, I'll give these a try once I've mastered the standing clean.

Trying to understand the TGU video series, do you suggests starting with video one and perfecting it before moving on to video two? I’ve tried to just do TGU but it’s not as crisp as I would like. “Practicing” with a 12 kg until I get it better. Or build these series videos up before I do the complete move.

Another good variation to do. Do we need to pay attention to weight distribution, which leg is taking more load as the weight shifts? Or just let the body do its things through the exercise?
@MarkWildman
@MarkWildman 4 жыл бұрын
center is better. but play with it. some people need to shift load to their lead leg to take it away from the knee on the ground

@@MarkWildman Awesome! A few other places recommend getting two clubs of each size (or at least for 10lb and 15lb ones), but most of your videos are just with single clubs. Curious about your thoughts on the necessity of having pairs of clubs as well. Looking forward to it!
