This was FAN-F'ing-TASTIC! I bought this mic thinking I'd come back to the studio and plug it into my PC and go... 17 minutes later, I know exactly what to do. Many thanks.

I am so glad that there are all of these videos but not a single video shows us what software to use and how. Everyone just talks about gain levels and calls it a day. I am completely new to the scene. Bought a rode podmic, a focusrite scarlett solo 3rd gen and currently have zero idea how to use them. I have been browsing for 5 hours and I still have no clue.

I feel you… I bought the rose streamer x, $399 and it’s costed me so much more. First of all I couldn’t connect the blue yeti to it. I bought an adapter which powered it but I couldn’t hear anything. I invested in the $100 pod mic, with its stand, and IT DOES NOT COME WITH THE XLR CORD. And even if I get the cord for it, I don’t think it will connect to my laptop.

will this mic with focuserite 212 and a fethead be good for recording voice overs for documentaries? I tried the Shure SM7B but it makes my voice sound too masculine deeper than it should be for my female voice( i already have a deep voice ) even though i loved how smooth it sounded… i am trying to look for alternatives with little to none post processing.

purchased brand new 3 PodMic s , all are giving a hissing sound, changed cable, using with zoom h6 recorder and used a pre mixer also but hiss sound is there
@kettnercreative10 ай бұрын
The hissing is from your Zoom H6... Zoom mixers have horrible preamps... That being said, the hiss might be from the H6 headphone amp as well. Make sure to listen on your computer to confirm.

@omershalmon92188 ай бұрын
So it's just a guess but if you are using speakers it might be because the sound circulates back in (friends talk -> your speakers play the sound -> your mic picks up on the sound and plays it for them just like if you were talking...)

I'm currently using the focusrite 3rd gen, but in my opinion its sounds bad without boosting my gain on the interface, but then i get the hissing sound from it. I have to use voicemeeter to adjust my voice and remove some hissing. Do you have any advice for that combo?
@kettnercreative2 жыл бұрын
If you're married to the 2i2 Gen 3, you need an inline preamp. That will resolve your hiss issues, but at that cost, you're better off selling your 2i2 Gen 3 and getting a Vocaster (assuming you don't need the Line Level or Instrument inputs.

I have my Scarlett gain set to about 50% make sure 48v and everything else is off. In voicemeeter I have my mic volume on default and the compression set between 2-4... sounds great. You also have to make sure all of your sound settings are 48000hz and use the "mme" on devices in voicemeeter.

I like how heavy and good looking the Rode PodMic is. But mine picks up a terrible amount of electrical interference (almost like a 60Hz hum). I dont have such an issue with any other mic other than the Rode PodMic. I returned it and exchanged it for a new one, but same issue. I tried it with my Scarlett Focusrite 2i2, my Rodecaster Pro and my Zoom H5. Still, it picks up a crazy amount of electrical interference.
@mondotv4216 Жыл бұрын
You have to remember that the podmic is a dynamic mic so if you're starting off with any kind of electrical interference in the cable or gear it's going to be amplified much more with a dynamic mic than a condenser mic. Try and locate the source of the noise (often flourescent tubes) and eliminate that and use good quality cables. A proper balanced XLR cable should not let any noise through. As a test try running all your equipment off battery to see if you have dirty AC power - and I mean all equipment. I very much doubt the mic itself is the culprit.
@ThePianoSenseiWay Жыл бұрын
for gain. . . what about the "level?" On my interface, on the microphone channel I have a "gain" dial and also a "level" dial. They both affect the output. Where should I put the level while adjusting the gain and vice versa?

Here is an potential issue you might experience, and the fix: I'm on windows 11, I don't get any audio, the Ai-1 shows the mic is working. But Windows does not detect it, it's due to 44100 HZ being default. On the task bar right click on the audio icon->audio settings. Click on the name of the audio interface, in my case Ai-1, click Format, select 48000 HZ.
