Games takes years to make, if Zomboid came out a year later, they would've been in development for a couple years prior, even if it was an early access. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that it would be a natural mechanic for a sandbox zombie game. Kinda like barricades.

It's called Zombi U because the game is actually a sequel/reimaging of the original "Zombi" game Ubisoft made for the Amstrad CPC in 1989.

Zomboid has the same feature; if you get mauled to death or die by infection from a bite/scratch, all of your loot decides to leisurely stroll away into the hordes.

There is kinda one and it's called No more room in hell (it's a free game on steam which I totally recommend, especially with friends) it has a similar mechanic like ZombiU except that you can get the infection by scratches or bites. The game gives you a choice to either suicide yourself or take pills to slow the infection but you can also find a cure throughout the map which depends on the difficulty you choose, however that's only if you're lucky enough.

WiiU game gimmicks were actually kinda fun. Assassin's creed 4 had the map on the table thingy, ZombiU and other games had the inventory / gimmicky mini games with it. Those type of things we will never see again, Kinect, Wii Motion and WiiU Tablet, Xbox Arcade/ Indie, Playstation Home ETC. My childhood is honestly almost gone at this point, people remember my parent's childhood like Nintendo 64 and all that but barely anyone remembers things like Wii Sports having the equivalent of a flying simulator.

I love how when the game was ported over from the Wii-U, they just removed the U from the title and named those ports just "Zombi". It's so stupid but I kinda love it.

What's worse about this port is the gameplay was heavily designed around the Wii U gamepad. Scanning, maps, inventory, mini-games, all on your gamepad while you could look at the TV to see your character and look out for approaching danger. They did what they could for this port, but it just wasn't made for other platforms.

​​​@@V3ntilator The WiiU gimmicks for Rayman Legends weren't particularly meaningful though, tbh. Think they always knew that Legends would be ported to other platforms as Rayman Origins was multiplatform. But for ZombiU, they properly made use of the dual screen concept like a DS game which was cool. I think they only ported this game because the Wii U sold so badly.

The gimmicks made the game more hectic and harder to play, so it were not designed for mommies like the ports. ;) It's UBI who claimed everyone else wanted it, and it sold terrible on 360 and PS3. First year Wii U version sold more than the other versions combined.

this game was honestly the entire reason i wanted a Wii-U back in the day. I was a kid absolutely DROWNING in zombie hysteria and not only did it give me that zombie fix but it also had that really freaking cool gimmick of using the game pad for inventory, the map/sonar even sniper scopes! i was so excited to get it and play it as a kid. Honestly ill be controversial and say the Wii-U was better then anyone gave it credit for

At the time this game came out no one really made survival horror a'la the early Resi games. The Resi series were goofy action flicks at the time, so for Ubisoft to make a traditional Zombie survival game on a Nintendo console no one really knew anything about at the time was a pretty gutsy move. Love it or hate it, this game deserves all the respect in the world. I picked it up on the PS4, and yeah. I really like it. I would have liked it more if you had a more personal connection with your survivors. It would make their demise hit you harder.

"Splinter Cell Blacklist" had some of the best touch pad usage as it were the game gadget. You could fly the drone around with touch screen and gyro only which were cool. There were other functions too. This game were awkward to play on PC and other consoles when you played the wonderful Wii U version first. Rayman Legends were by far the best on Wii U too.

I have fond memories of this game, not because I played it but because my roommate at the time played the demo and all the sudden me and our other roommate hear this odd shuffling sound. We look down and the guy playing is is just running in place from the fear. It was just a great moment and we all laughed so hard.

I believe the game was supposed to be scary too, it’s especially why they made the game pad useful for some things, you could be looking at your map or searching through your inventory and next thing a zombie pops up.. they also got the darkness down for the time

I love this game. The multiplayer mode where one person spawns the zombies and the other fights them off was fun as well. Spawning sprinter zombies behind the survivor while an armored zombie serves as a distraction in front of them was always fun. The ported over version to other consoles was cool because they added new melee weapons to use, but for some reason you could not store the cricket bat and had to have it equipped which was annoying. Not the best zombie game but fun nevertheless.

This game was actually so good back when Xbox was Xbox gold you got three free games every month and I got this and played it to completion and wondered why it never took off. Which is probably due to Ubisofts rep and the Wii U being a disaster.

I remember watching my little brother play this, he's an idiot so it was mostly guiding him through the most obvious route possible but whatever. The highlight though is the nursery. The atmosphere, the eerie silence, the creepy lighting, ... all the most stereotypical horror tropes you can imagine. You'd expect me to be bored during this part, i've seen it so many times before after all, and yet for some reason... it remains one of the most terrifying horror experiences in my life. (Also it is possible i'm getting this game mixed up with another as it has been a VERY long time since i played it... and i didn't even play it, i just watched my lil' bro.)
