I've watched this video around 20 times now - each time I pick out another nuance - love it!

i've seen quite a lot of these type videos and this is for sure one of the best i've seen. big picture stuff, simplicity, never losing sight of the ultimate goal(s) of mixing.

The effects he uses on the vocals add so much emotion. I always struggle with that. I feel like I'm adding reverb and delay just to add it, and I can never quite achieve the emotional effect I want.

Great stuff here. It's amazing to see how much he can do with so few plug-ins. Also gives me great insight as to how much effects to use on a main vocal (it sounds pretty heavy when the vocal is soloed, but in the mix everything blends together perfectly). I tend to have my vocal mixes a bit dry, so this is really making me rethink my mixing process. Also, starting the mix with the vocals is genius

Would love to do it in person again sometime in the future. This year it is online only. But it would be fun to do this format again. -Justin

Elegant mixing. I love D-Verb. Has it been made into a VST yet? I know Lo-Fi has been.

Great video of a minimalist approach. I think the stems have been tracked to get the right sound he's looking for from the start. I guess for most of us who don't have a high end studio for tracking (i.e. straight through the audio interface), there would be a layer of EQ/Comp plugins on all the tracks first to get us to his starting point and then we can adopt a more minimal approach from there on.

can there be vocals without reverb ??? there can be vocals with distortion or even bit crusher?
@toefes7 жыл бұрын
The sky is the limit, you can do whatever you'd like to do. If reverb doesn't float your boat, try a delay for example :)

What is he borrowing from her make up bag? I don’t get it and it’s pissing me off.
@---43854 жыл бұрын
condoms. Women have their condoms in their make-up bag. 1. it doesn't get lost. 2. no men will look into it and recognize she's a slut. 3. when she "freshens up" for a guy she wants to fuck, she can put the condom into her pocket or something..that way there's no awkward searching it out, when the time comes. Well it's either that, or it's a weird guy that wears eyeliner. I hope this helps you out!
