It's absolutely astounding to me that it's not a crime to intentionally misrepresent facts and tell blatant lies as an elected government official. Growing up I always heard the trope that "all politicians are liars" but the last few years have really shown just how bad it can get, and why something needs to be done. This is far too important to just shrug our shoulders and hope it eventually blows over. People ARE going to try to take advantage of this again, and I think it's safe to assume that the next time it happens, it's going to be more competent than last time, which came shockingly close to success to begin with.
