I think Kevin's intimidated by the hosts, particularly Matt. He really wants his beliefs to be true, because if they are not that would be devastating. I wish Matt would be gentler with callers like Kevin. He deeply wants the hosts to agree that he has good reasons to believe in a god. But maybe deep down, he's really calling so the hosts can give him reasons that life without a god still has meaning.

God doesn't "want" anything for the simple reason that he doesn't need anything. He never gets hungry or bored and in any case he is timeless. It follows that he has no plans and has nothing to think about. Given these obvious facts about God, he is as good as dead.

They do. If you have a god belief then that generally affects how you live your life. In many instances, if affects how you live your life a lot. Pascal's Wager says that you lose nothing by believing but you do. You lose all that time and effort that you put into religious pursuits that you could have put into other things. They generally cannot bear the thought that that's what they've done.

Nice enough guy but as you said each week it's some new batshit crazy idea and he NEVER acknowledges previous calls and that he's been debunked OVER AND OVER AND OVER. So it is the fault of biblical scholars that the extra Biblical books aren't in the Bible?! Many biblical scholars DO acknowledge extra Biblical books and refer to them, such as the Ascension of Isaiah, the books of Maccabees and the book of Jubilee so he is wrong on his basic premise. Them acknowledging these books doesn't mean they are any more real or accurate than the book that are in the Biblical canon.

Sounds like Matt has a little bit of his Christian background still. Why do you care about wha the Bible academics have to say? Why acknowledge their authority? It's fine if people want to make an academic career out of dissecting the bible but their opinion is as good as anyone's because isn't faith between you and your alleged God? Is there anything more intimate and personal than that?? and isn't the bible is God's message to everybody? Watch this video again - the caller is never allowed to complete a sentence, he is just constantly interrupted because his thought process does not follow that of though who shalt not be named Dillahunty. I agree the caller had nothing worthy to say at least that I could understand but then again he was never really allowed to express a complete thought. Ted Cruz is a more reasonable debater than Dillahunty - ouch, that’s bad ….
