The thing about Scotland is, the accent is different in every region (same as England and Wales, and Northern Ireland and the Republic). The Edinburgh accent is much softer than the Glaswegian accent. I come from further north. My brothers wife is from the same town. We used to run an office together, in Australia, and one of our managers would be downright rude to my SIL, and would ask me to translate. The thing is, our boss was from Dundee, and she understood him perfectly.

I have no trouble understanding Kev-I.N., but the "party time" bit reminds me of a time I worked with a Scottish bloke and had a similar language/accent barrier issue. As with Kevin it involved trying to communicate with an Australian (me). And as with Kevin the conversation fell to bits at the first hurdle. I introduced myself and he shook my hand and said "I'm grim". It seemed like such a random thing to say that I figured he must have meant something else. After patiently repeating himself several times I realised that he was trying to tell me that his name was Graham. He was polite about it but it must have been extremely frustrating!

:D))) I'm thinking back to the early 1970s and the reverse situation when a girl from Sydney was in our students hall of residence in St Andrews and she sat down at the dinner table on the first night of term and said "I'm coy". It took a moment of mental question marks until we worked out that her name was Kaye. Accents take getting used to.

Of the Three Lions, Scotland is First. The British Royalty is the Scottish Royal bloodline of the House of Dunkeld down through the Bruces and the Stewarts. Scotland inherited England in 1606. If Scotland separated then the rest of GB would have to get their own royalty. But why would Scotland want to give up possession of England Wales and N.Ireland? The current Royal incumbents need to understand their bloodline's history and return the seat of the Crown to Scotland. SAOR ALBA GU BRAGH

I'm a Scot and wouldn't want Independence , but it's the elephant in the room...lost the first time around, but yes give it one more go, but after that whatever the outcome no more referendums for a generation of the vote is in favour of remaining ...Sturgeon is only interested in being a name in history, she has no idea of economics and politics ...but yes let's do another referendum as we should of done with Brexit as a confirmatory vote knowing more due to forcing the first referendums

@@glastonbury4304 everyone was lied to about the results of the referendum they said it was 45/55, Fact only 60% of registered Scottish voter actually voted so it was 25% to 35%,, for the referendum to be legal, I think you need 75% or something like that. The SNP continually lie and manipulate the Scottish people. There not to be trusted
@glastonbury43043 жыл бұрын
@@dunkirk1581 ..I agree , the SNP are just trying to appeal to emotion and not sense ...always quoting North Sea Oil as where most of our GDP will come from 🤦...it's not as simple as that, the Oil revenue has dropped by 18% in the last decade from these old fields and I doubt BP with an Independent Scotland will want to renegotiate rights unless it's more favourable to BP ...then there's the argument who gets the tax revenues , if it's by Scottish waters then Scotland will get 90% , but if Westminster argue it should be by population then Scotland will only get 9% ...whatever happens it will be a huge mess and as the old fields are running down, we will need huge investment in new fields but smaller!...#nd who will pay for that ...I think whether Scotland gets Independence or not the oil industry will stay much as it is being UK based rather than going down complicated extremely expensive routes of two tiered tax and new investment with an independent Scotland ....additionally if we do get Independence I guess we will become a Republic with a President and a Prime Minister, so more bloody self serving politicians!! ...and will we have to have Embassies and consulates of more civil servants all over the world at more expense!!! ...and let's not mention change of currency, military, borders, negotiating trade deals which take an average of 10 years to complete...it's basically an emotional idea which won't work in a now globalised world ...

@@glastonbury4304 they are destroying the oil industry from the greens imput, but business in general they create to much insecurity, some businesses are leaving, creating more unemployment, How many jobs or industry have they brought to Scotland, when a month ago The first minister was telling people to claim mental health to get 600 and odd pounds a month, this tells you jobs are not there focus, the other thing they are desperate to get all men out of politics, that's worrying
