Blessed to have done half this list solo this year - New England for fall (the Kanc Highway and Acadia were the highlights) and Utah mighty 5 at the tail end of a snowy April week were the best trips. Burney Falls, Lassen Peak, couple days in Crater Lake and Smith Rock state park is another great road trip, aim for summer months if there’s no wildfire smoke in the area 🤞🏼

@@SAsh-zg6ln nope not at all. I transitioned to solo when friends couldn’t join or get the time off from work, I didn’t want that to stop my adventure. Not just you. It was absolutely too fast. I had to pause every 3 seconds to take notes just because things got rattled off too quickly. Just goes to show you can’t always make a short summary of itineraries to “help” when those plans need a longer timeframe to go throw. I would’ve much rather watched 1 hr instead of 20 mins of pause, rewind, pause, rewind, pause.

Somehow this popped up on my KZbin feed and after traveling North America in our RV for the last 7 years/70,000 miles, you have nailed most of this list and got the order correct based on our experiences. Great compilation and videography! I would put the Pacific Northwest, Cascades, Olympia National Park, and the Oregon coast above West Texas, and add Yosemite, Sequoia, and Tahoe over Southern California, but everything else is spot on. We found Arkansas and Southern Missouri to be amazing gems to explore. Perhaps that is #11. If you include Canada, Banff and Jasper probably make the top 5 and are well worth a few weeks if you can avoid the crowds! Glad to be a subscriber now!

I'm a Texan, so of course I'm biased, but Far West Texas is INCREDIBLY underrated. I would also suggest the towns of Alpine, Marathon, and Marfa (if you're into minimalist art), as well as Big Bend Ranch State Park, Davis Mountains State Park, and Fort Davis National Historic Site for a bit of Civil War era frontier history.

For those of you that are contemplating the Black Hills trip let me add a few pointers to make your trip even better. Starting (or finishing) at Devil's Tower WY (don't miss) drive through Spearfish, SD and drive through Spearfish Canyon (short hike to waterfalls). Continue south on US 385 to Crazy Horse mountain, then backtrack north to SD 87 and go east (Needles Highway, don't miss it). There is a nice hike around picturesque Sylvan Lake, and also a trailhead for the hike to Black Elk Peak, the highest point east of the Rocky Mts.. Just a short distance past Blue Bell lodge take the Custer State Park Wildlife Loop road headed east and you will see Bison, Prairie Dogs, deer, and feral Burro's. Viewing is best in the morning and evening, but you'll see animals even in the afternoon heat. The loop road will rejoin US 16, go east a short distance and take US 16A north (Iron Mountain Road) to Mt. Rushmore. On leaving the Black Hills you can visit Badlands NP about 90 minutes east on I-90 and can also visit the Nebraska Sand Hills a little south of Valentine Nebraska. Sorry it was so lengthy.

One of my favorite experiences was hiking up the Narrows in Zion right up the middle of the river, mind blowing! Some beautiful fun road trips we’ve done that are not on this list are up around the Great Lakes. I think these areas are underrated too. Thank you so much! The Grand Canyon can be visited in 1 day, but you’ll have to decide between West North or South (every time I’ve done south, but west looks awesome). Zion if you’re looking for a calm trip, 1 day is enough. But if you plan on hiking you need 2-3 days, I have a top 10 guide for Zion on the channel. For northwest NM you should check out Bisti Badlands, Shiprock, and if you have time- La Ventana Arch, Bandelier NM, and Cox Canyon Arch. I hope you have a great trip!

If you want to down into Mammoth Cave (Kentucky), you’re need reservations in advance. Also, if you want to hike the cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde NP, you need reservations. South Colorado is cool too.

Good tip for these two parks! I haven't been to Mesa Verde in years and have yet to go to Mammoth Cave, one of these days!

This is a nice compilation with some beautiful images but you need to add more notations or enunciate location names more slowly because how are we supposed to find any of these recommendations if we don’t know how to spell them? You flew by some of the names so quickly that we couldn’t quite figure out what those names were. And some of them weren’t listed as waypoints on your maps so we were kind of at a loss.

Great footage! I've only done Big Bend, Palo Duro Canyon (with a close encounter with a mountain lion in our camp!), Grand Canyon, Tetons, High Sierras in CA, & a few spots in Colorado. I really want to experience Utah & South Dakota. Problem is: I'm 70, female, & still "fit"; most of my friends can't hike any more & my husband is a farmer tied to the land here! UGH!

Right now I don’t have any travel guides on West Virginia on the channel. But in my experience there aren’t many big cities for hotels, so we just car camped, or searched Expedia’s hotel map for places near the spots we wanted to visit. We found a good cheap hotel near new river gorge, but I’m sorry I don’t remember the name. It’s a relatively cheap place to travel to though, I hope this helps!

If you want a great road trip without fires in the PNW come in early June

@KevinEassa oh yeah makes sense! The worst month is usually September. But junes in portland are basically a late spring. Portlands dry season is actually more like july-September
@SamBattis
@SamBattis 2 ай бұрын
Honestly maybe even early July. Early June definitely won't have fires but if you want to ensure it feels like a summer trip with weather to match, you might want to wait til after June 21st at least and if you wait til the start of July then you can be really sure you'll see some very sunny days if you're there more than a few days. Anyways also always worth noting, the fires are new since 2016. Vote for those who want to do something about climate change and forest management

They all look cool, 14:00 May try to do this one from AR, picking up your map in Nashville with my dad. Wonder if there is another cool trip in another direction to make it a loop?.... does this include Blueridge route or a little off-base from that one?
@KevinEassa
@KevinEassa 8 ай бұрын
You should definitely do it if you can! Funny enough, I’ve never heard of Blueridge route, just had to google it. But based on what I see, my route is very similar to that, with maybe a detour or two but essentially that. I don’t know Arkansas that well, but if you head west and do the west Texas road trip I outlined, a great stop to break up that drive on the way is Caddo Lake State Park. It’s a really unique spot along the bayou where we camped and kayaked

Thank you! Totally up to you though. Everyone’s schedules are different and some people may only want to see some of the places I’ve outlined, where some people may want to see them all. Also people have different paces of travel. A good rule of thumb in my opinion would be 5-10 days each!

The Great Lakes offers some great road trips too like the north shore of Lake Superior from Duluth to Grand Marais. The entire Lake Michigan shoreline in Michigan from Saugatuck all the way to Mackinaw Island is wonderful. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is beautiful, quiet and has the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and while you are up there, visit the Apostle Islands in Wisconsin also on Lake Superior.
