I have 6 different varieties of mint growing at my place and have quite a crop from it each year that yields some very minty tea. Don't know why it hasn't occurred to me to make a liquor with it yet so that's going to be this year's goal. Cheers 🌿

I've tried your diy with the dry peppermint and it was pretty good! then i did another batch and improved it further. I up the dried mint in the vodka to 12 g and used clean 2 to 1 simple syrup to sweeten it (less vegi and more clean taste that way). That the only alternation actually and it's really good. Thanks for the video! ❤

I'm usually making mint liquor 2 ways 50g of dried mint and 100g of fresh mint and 1 litre of 96% alcohol in souse vide, and after that i mix it with syrup or do distillation in distillator.

Wonderful! Is it possible to make grapefruit liqueur with the same process (by using grapefruit essential oil) ?
@TheWhiteDragon310 ай бұрын
Fun fact, the method of using high proof alcohol to dissolve essential oil is the same process by which the concentrated flavor base of modern sodas are made. The original Coca Cola recipe called their flavor concentrate the "7x mixture", and this stuff is *POTENT* with only a _tiny_ amount present in a can of soda, so do be very particular in your measurements when using your own essential oil so that you don't start seeing colors.

Do you think either liqueur will start devolving in flavor after a while? Or does the ascorbic acid keep it tasting fresh?
@KevinKos10 ай бұрын
The one with a mint tea will start changing in a while, while the oil one should stay the same for a long time.

I *hop* on the train of sweet and fresh cocktails lovers! Grasshopper never [leaves] disappointed! Edit. One question that lingers around from the creme de cacao video: if someone has some good white chocolate (the pricey line of my supermarket even has actual vanilla beans and you can see the dots) can it be used instead of the cacao butter to get a more intense flavour? Maybe adding few nibs like the makers of the one you got as a gift.
@KevinKos10 ай бұрын
Not sure since it will dissolve more than just oils from butter. But it's worth giving it a shot.

Can it be called "Creme de Menthe" if the sugar content is below 30%?
@KevinKos10 ай бұрын
Looked it up on Difford's Guide and it says: "In the EEC liqueurs named 'crème' must contain a minimum sugar content of 200g per litre, with the exception of blackcurrant (crème de cassis) which must contain 400g per litre."

Why not instead making a liqueur that is widely available from very good makers you make an ingredient used in many old cocktails that is virtually unavailable like calisaya or byrrh? It would be absolutely wicked!
