2:07:00 Bampf Man's petulant take on Jenny's Star Wars Hotel video, which he didn't even watch any of, is so goddam dumb and hypocritical, your entire industry is based on fans critiquing the things they love and pay for. She's a connoisseur of theme-based attractions and is 100% a Star Wars fan, every single thing she said was in-depth, researched, fair and thought out for 4 hours, even her goddam app that was central to the main experience didn't work for the thousands of dollars spent

... Yeah, it was a bad take, but it was an emotional reaction. People are people. Put yourself in his shoes. He has said before that it revitalized his love for Star Wars. For him, the experience was a dream he barely made happen. Clearly his experience was different and he knows it would affect how he remembered it (which, when he was talking about the snippets friends would share him on, it was clear those snippets had already challenged his memory of the experience). You and most people would feel the same..

@@TheBigBMoss imo his desire to save his pristine precious memory doesn't excuse implying Jenny was wrong because she didn't put in the effort, "you get out what you put in" - in addition to the whole video, she had a dedicated section explaining why that's not valid - he's blaming the fans because they weren't good enough to understand the hotel if you truly love something you will want it to be as good as it can be, that includes hearing quality criticism, why wouldn't he want his experience to be what others have if it was so great This is a common conflict when people say things like "if you don't like it then just don't buy it", that's not how fandom works and he more than most should know that at the deepest level

Just like he had a good experience, she had a bad one and his good experience doesn't change the fact that she had a bad one and it wasn't her fault. There were no Star Wars yet. So it was the biggest thing to watch then. We were in the middle of the space race, so it was big to a kid like me. That is the reason I went to see Star Wars 21 times in 1977 in the theater.

@sinistar99
@sinistar99 3 ай бұрын
One could just as easily ask: Why is tearing something down "being honest about it?"
@hastanley1
@hastanley1 3 ай бұрын
@@sinistar99 how is Nicholson tearing it down? By mentioning that Disney didn't pay actors properly and they had to find out they were fired right before a very long shift? Hiring their students who they can pay dirt cheap, have no experience negotiating plus pile extra duties onto and take rent money from putting them in a high stress situation? Fuck those workers, it's so mean to discuss working conditions and awful to sympathise with people. Is it tearing down to mention paying for a memory maker package with roving photographers to take photos throughout the weekend only for a new, more expensive photo package to be announced and instead of hiring more photographers just reassigning all the photographers who would have been roaming to do that package resulting in paying for a service that no longer existed not even informing people who had paid or offering a refund? Wait, maybe it's "tearing down" to mention using Disney's shipping service to send a bulky, expensive droid home only for it to never arrive despite the address being correct, being given the run around when trying to get updates, no refund offered and Disney only responding when someone with a lot of twitter posted about it. Fuck people who aren't influencers, amirite, it's so cruel to point out that normal people are shit out of luck if they want a refund. Who cares about people to whom a few hundred dollars is a lot of money, they should shut up. The audacity of wanting the things you pay for. It's nice to know that people liked the performances and work of Captain Keven, Ounni, Lt. Croy, etc but don't think their performances were good enough to deserve being paid more than an actor who just has to sing two songs. Like, they were so good but also they don't deserve any empathy or attention when they got pink slipped out of no where. Any consideration for how people who thought they had long stable contracts needing to scramble to reorganise their lives since unlike other roles at Disney they couldn't just be shifted into different roles in the park is just really mean to Disney. If the thing being torn down is the complete contempt for non wealthy people, workers, and anyone who isn't an influencer then tear it down. Why do you want to prop up the wall of silence and apathy? This isn't a fart, trying to make the person who talks about the stinky issues the problem is childish "they who smelt it dealt it" logic. The continued deliberate silence on how the people who worked at the star wars hotel were treated and framing even mentioning the many guests who had problems as petty is so heartless.

You are trying to invalidate someone for simply talking about a bad experience they had and trying to claim that since they are calling out the negative that they experienced than it isn't an honest opinion. And even those are money grabs. Its pure greed, unregulated and enabled. I guess it just takes 2 years of things being okay, and then another 2 years of inexcusable fleecing, to get to the next 4 years of "it will get better, cause I say so", all while semi-denying there is an actual problem in the first place...Still voting for Kamala for the record. To be fair, I think they are leaving parts out of that, or kinda misrepresenting it. I haven't watched the show to be honest but just some the reviews I've seen I can already tell people are milking the bad aspects of it. Like, if all the bodies weren't burned up, and the other girl got trained in the dark side of the force... it seems like the sith just lied to her and killed everybody. Assuming a sith shows up though to teach the bad girl. Also the Jedi showing up and treating them well before Anakin is alright, this all happened in the past, so its likely explaining why they made the rules that the did to treat Anakin like such a punk. Not that it really matter to me though, I ain't watching it till it all over and as a pirate. If its good enough I'll watch the whole thing, if not I'll stop. Meh either way.

But do they steal kids, they asked if they could test them with their permission and the one kid asked the mother if she could leave to be a Jedi.....I have been hearing a lot of people say this and at no point did they say they were going to just take the child.

I agree, they don't steal the child but I get the impression they might keep pestering the parents/guardians until they relent. Although, once they have them all contact is cut which puts it very much into cult territory.

I'm convinced that animation is the way to reinterpret. Look at the recent Babylon 5: The Way Home animated movie. Do something somewhat similar to that for the original Star Wars trilogy. Teach the audience to accept the idea of recast/reboot/reinterpretation with a high quality story. Another 2 years later. Then move it to live action. Possibly with the same actors.

In case you're wondering, the solution to the Connection at 2:27:02 has Dogma in the category 'names that start with an animal'. Lol. Other categories are names that rhyme, places in NY, and titles that end with a unit of measurement. Btw, Hedwig and the angry inch is a wonderful little movie, you should give it a try. I may be a cis male but I remember I loved its story. 😊

It's impossible to redo Star Wars; you can redo Back to the Future without any issues, but Star Wars at this point is untouchable. Unless you create an alternate universe version of Star Wars, that would be a solution. Right now Star Wars is a Cinematic Universe. It wouldn't make sense to redo it, just as it wouldn't make sense to redo The Avengers. There are so many TV shows, books, and comic book stories attached to The Skywalker Story that at this point in time you can't really touch that lore anymore.

About trailers not being first shown before new films and only on KZbin, the Nosferatu trailer is going to be first shown before The Bikeriders. Do you think that this is good? I’m excited about it and I don’t know if it’s because I’m feeling nostalgic or I’m just excited to see something be theater exclusive.

The huge issue I have with episode 3 of The Acolyte is that it treats the audience like the child. We only see what she experiences so we learned nothing new during the whole episode. It's consistent with the character not knowing more years later but it was a super frustrating watch.

I think Waterworld deserves a second chance, although not necessarily a sequel or a hard reboot. The polar ice caps/glaciers melting and leading to ocean levels rising dramatically + massive floods, showing more of how the post-apocalyptic Waterworld begins in a prequel-ish film set earlier in the timeline could help "ground" the Waterworld property. You could possibly set some of it on dryland and explain certain things that way, or maybe include a younger version of The Mariner/Kevin Costner's character to connect it directly to the original... The premise of Waterworld is somewhat more relevant today than it was back then. It was a huge flop at the box office, so it's probably unlikely anyone would wanna risk doing another Waterworld, but there might be ways to do it on a somewhat smaller budget
