We're back after the UK lockdown resulted in the shutdown of the business, the company has adapted to the current situation to ensure the safety of staff and customers. It's fantastic to be back on the road and back salvage hunting, huge thanks to Charles Trents for working hard to allow us to get back to work.

The UK is still in lockdown and work is currently not limited to key workers or essential services only. current government advice is as follows: As set out in the section on staying at home, you can travel for work purposes, but only where you cannot work from home. With the exception of the organisations covered above in the section on closing certain businesses and venues, the government has not required any other businesses to close - indeed it is important for business to carry on. Sometimes this will not be possible, as not everyone can work from home. Certain jobs require people to travel to, from and for their work - for instance if they operate machinery, work in construction or manufacturing, or are delivering front line services. If you cannot work from home then you can still travel for work purposes, provided you are not showing coronavirus symptoms and neither you nor any of your household are self-isolating. This is consistent with advice from the Chief Medical Officer. Employers who have people in their offices or onsite should ensure that employees are able to follow Public Health England guidelines including, where possible, maintaining a 2-meter distance from others, and washing their hands with soap and water often for at least 20 seconds (or using hand sanitiser gel if soap and water is not available). www.gov.uk/government/publications/full-guidance-on-staying-at-home-and-away-from-others/full-guidance-on-staying-at-home-and-away-from-others Charles Trent's are committed to ensuring the well being of its staff and customers by following government guidance and adhering to strict social distancing rules and providing employees with all relevant PPE to allow them to carry out their role as safely as possible.

Hello Kev, I know nothing about trucking, however I find your videos very interesting because it’s good to see how conscientious you are and considerate to other road users and customers of your company. You certainly have a positive attitude towards your work, even in these difficult times. I hope that some of your fellow truckers can take a leaf out of your book and behave in a similar way. Thanks for taking the time to make your videos and developing such an interesting channel.

Love seeing you back in the truck again. Where you park the truck was a metal reinforcing place the last time I was down that way. To the left as you went past the arctic in the yard, other side of the fence was where the haulage company I worked for was, RC Curtis. 44 tonne bulk tippers. And yes when coming back we had to reverse in by tarmacs weigh bridge, good side, blind side S bend and then reverse down the lane into the yard.

Pro tip :) if you're pulling a car and you want it to turn sharper you can use the brakes so only the front end turns, then you don't have to reverse to set the car straight and you can keep it in once without dropping. Keep up the good work!

Good to see that it is essential work moving CRASHED cars around and that you have LOTS of hand sanitisers and gloves. We were wondering why we don't have them in the HNS. So, if the customer has the virus and he or she coughs inside the car you are picking up it is surely safe!!! lol
@GreyDreadnought
@GreyDreadnought 4 жыл бұрын
I agree
@KevTee
@KevTee 4 жыл бұрын
Knew it wouldn't be long before the dumb comments started, read the pinned comment...... In response to your concerns, 1. there's no shortage of gloves and sanitiser. 2.The viruse isn't airborne so very little risk with correct procedure. 3. Work is not restricted to essential work, anyone can work. 4. All road haulage is classed as essential. 5. Waste removal is classed as essential including metal recycling for which we have a waste carriers licence. 6. We collect vehicles for local authorities that has the potential to cause environmental issues or hazards to road users. 7. Please at least do your own research before criticising others.

@@KevTee He may not be an NHS or social care worker but the business that he works in is not covered by the business and venues that must be closed. We are allowed to go to work as long as certain conditions are met ((such as it cant be done from home, social distancing guidelines (he sits alone for most of the day in a cab and barely has contact with the outside world) are met etc etc) The NHS is not short of non-sterile gloves or hand wash/alcohol rub and his business cares anough to provide this for him, this is a good business that cares about its staff. If they gave him a FEP3 mask (without formal fit testing) and surgical aprons then I would be livid! A concern I have is how they will dispose of the used gloves and have they trained you on how to actually take off the gloves that minimises self induced contamination... ie both hands touched something you shouldnt have and you take off one glove and now you have naked skin trying to take off the other infected glove... taking off those blue nitrile gloves can be a bugger if they havent thought you the technique to do so! It literally takes 10s to learn though. I suspect the cars he picks up will need to have a window cracked open for at least 20-30mins (if possible) before he picks it up and he should also do a proper rub down of the car surfaces with disinfectant wipes we use in hospital... if he has to get into the car to move it and the owner of the car was recently in it for whatever reason. The cab should also be rubbed down with disinfectant wipes and aired when he drops the truck off at the end of the day, incase another driver uses it the next day The most important thing is that he understands the risk he is getting involved in. If he understands, willing to follow safety guidelines (which include stopping work if he gets symptoms requiring isolation) and is willing to take those risk then I say crack on!

Hi kev, long time watcher here. First of all I reply enjoy watching you and your positive attitude. Currently o furlough and realising I'd like to change my career, since a kid I remember always wanting to become a lorry driver but life never worked out that way. I understand a lot of commitments and problems within the industry from extensive research, however I'd still like to give it a go, if it doesn't work out then I'll try something else. If possible could you (or anyone else) give advice on either funding hour license yourself without the option to go into work straight away or at least with no experience. Or potentially working for a company who will pay for your license then being contractually obliged to work for them for a period of however many years. Obviousuly pros and cons with both. Any advice? Thanks :)

Where in the guidence does it mention essential workers only? Government are actively encouraging businesses to operate if at all possible to keep the economy alive as much as possible, there's going to be many more deaths and hardship due to the economic crash than the virus. Also to clarify waste comes under essential services including metal recycling for which we have a waste carriers licence. We also collect cars on behalf of local authorities that possess an environment threat or a danger to other road users. Happy to answer any other confusion you may have.
