@@dave11a82 Yep. It’s called the Khruangbin effect. It’s been written about - their music is so multi dimensional that algorithms attach it to so much other music, they’re one of the most streamed acts right now. Which has a ricochet effect of amplifying bands that have a similar or adjacent sound. Another one is Hermanos Gutierrez- I’m not saying any of this is bad or derivative - but noticing that they sound like Khrangbin is exactly what the algorithm is doing and boosting them in exposure- we’ll see more bands with similar sounds come to the forefront over the next couple years. Like in the 60s when there were hundreds of bands that had a Beatles adjacent sound that got famous for a one hit wonder song. This is just the modern version.

J’ai déjà eu l’occasion de l’écrire : c’est un grand disque crépusculaire fait par des gens solaires. Ce morceau coup de poing est à leur image. Certes on y entend plein d’influences mais elles sont malaxées, carbonisées, réappropriées. En brassant des styles cousins qui balaient plusieurs époques, les NJQ ont élaboré un son qui leur est propre, servi par des compos ultra inspirées. Le noir et blanc lo-fi et sablonneux du clip laisse transparaître des notes de rouge et de bleu. Quand on « entend » des couleurs dans la musique, c’est toujours très bon signe…
