Julien Baker is awesome, I love watching her talk. She is so articulate and cautious with her words it's fun to watch her mind work. And then she's like "we're just buds making music." Awesome.

I LOVED the Freudian slip moment when she said "an awarness of the kind of dynamic you're *destructing*" instead of *constructing*. It makes sense though, Cheryl was talking about their individuality vs the collaborative work and said they don't sound like their solo work selves in this record, and Julian started talking about the construction of that collaboration but for that to happen somehow they needed to lo 'destruct' their solo dynamic!

I can't normally watch live performances. But Julien is so cathartic it's beautiful. There's these moments after Me & My Dog when she just sort of looks at the piano, then up at Phoebe and Lucy, and it's like she's winded. This good kind of winded you see marathon runners get after a race. It's amazing stuff and I love that these moments are captured.

Once an American man was visiting Japan and toured one of the famous rock gardens where he began expounding upon all the hidden meanings of the place - the rocks relationship to the sand, the colors, etc. A Japanese man listening in stopped him, saying: "Sir in all your analysis you miss the point. It is beautiful." These three, you can spend hours figuring out the why of it and miss the point. There is this tremendous beauty, and vulnerability here. They have found a special place and are sharing it. It's heavenly.
