My Wife and I made that trip by sea plane a couple years ago, it made the Florida Keys trip! We were there in Oct., the ferry was in for servicing so sea plane was the only option they had which we wanted to fly anyhow. Cool thing about that was, our group was the only visitors on the island for a couple hours until the second sea plane came. Kind of like the 8 of us had a island to ourselves.

Fort Jefferson is really one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen I spent seven days there on a sailboat one time I loved every minute of it a little FYI about the ferry boat it does a lunch buffet that's pretty good yes I snuck on and have lunch and no one seemed to mind just for future reference when you're out there it makes it putting up with all those people a little better LOL

Welcome to your fifties! As I recall you have the Morryde stairs (which have the extendable legs that adjust down to the ground). Hope they weren't damaged too badly from your "Oops!" moment. (These things happen. I'm guessing y'all were distracted since that looked like a pretty busy section of highway to stop for a potty break.) Another great video, however. I always enjoy watching y'alls journeys. Safe travels and may you both have many, many more enjoyable birthdays to come.

Yea.. Everything was fine.. we just dug up a lot of sand and dirt with our RV stairs. It was a distraction thing. We'd stopped for a bathroom break (not a lot of places to do this on US-1)... Some people going the other direction stopped to take some pictures of our RV. I (chad) chatted with them a bit, forgot the stairs were down and got back in the truck. We got lucky we were on sand and dirt. It could have been a LOT worse! Lesson learned: ALWAYS do a full walk around right before pulling away. This time the lesson only damaged my pride. 😊

@@ChangingLanes - Ahhh yes, distractions will bite us in the butt almost every time. I took out part of the rubber roof on an old '96 Yellowstone Class-C (AND almost ripped the awning at the same time) because of a distraction many years ago. Until the roof was fully repaired I looked like "that neighbor you don't want to be parked next to." ROFL! (Think "silver duct tape and tarping." Was never so happy as when the roof was repaired and the evidence was gone. You're lucky I'm even admitting to it. hahahahaha) Travel safe y'all; love your channel.)

En route back from my trip to Key West. It was too dang hot and rained everyday. I’ll never go down there from Michigan on two wheels again. But, I did it. In Lexington,Kentucky at a motel. Be back home in Michigan tomorrow, God willing. Great video♥️

Wow.. that's a LONG ride! Hope you get safely back to MI! Best time to visit FL is the winter. No such thing as spring and fall in south FL.. Winter can sometimes feel like fall, but it's HOT most of the time. The Keys are usually cooler than south Florida due to the trade winds and surrounding water. But it's still hot and can rain at any time.

OMG the dry Tortugas is something we wanna do so bad too. We’ve thought about taking our dogs and camping there. Just kinda scary knowing you’re stuck out there if anything goes wrong lol. We LOVE Key West and Boyd’s is where we always stay too. Planning on going back in October for Fantasy Fest for our anniversary again. That’s always a fun time!

Changing Lanes yes they warned us about that so we came prepared with rat proof containers elevated off of the ground and never had a problem. Honestly this Canadian would love to go back!
