I bought my TST TPMS from TechnoRV and it works great. I’ve got the cap monitors on my truck and trailer so when I’m not towing the trailer I know how my truck tires are doing. As soon as it’s in range of my trailer it picks those tires right up. TechnoRV’s instructional videos are amazing. This 59 year old single gal programmed and installed it myself!!

Just got back from a weekend trip to Grand Lake Colorado. We stayed at the Winding River Resort in our 44’ Fuzion 5th wheel Toyhauler. I would recommend this rv park for your big rig. Paved all the way to the park entrance. Park offers numerous activities including ATV rentals on site, horse back riding on site, hay rides, and pancake breakfast. Loads of fun especially the ATVing right outside the park.

OMG! We learned a valuable lesson on using trip wizard. We tried to plan our trip and we thought it would be easy to plan EVERY stop. We learned that we need to plan on what we want to see and where we want to spend the night not every rest stop of filling up with gas. Of course we stop every 2 hours. Our trip is going to be about 3,500 miles totally.

Your demo is pretty much the trip we just did. Gros Ventre is a great campground for Grand Teton. I think they can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet, and they have 30-something sites with electric. One good thing there was that I finally had good AT&T connection. Jackson is nearby, and so is GTNP. Nearby is the booming metropolis of Kelly, which has the Kelly Gros Ventre Deli, where you can get awesome sandwiches. And just down the road (up the road?) is the Shane cabin, used in the movie Shane, which provides great framing for pictures of the Tetons. Take a rafting trip on the Snake with Black Dog rafting company in Jackson. Those guys are great. Two things about Gros Ventre is they don't take reservations, and I'm not sure if the 45-length includes the tow. But if you arrive in the shoulder season (May or Sep), you shouldn't have a problem getting a site. If you want to get the iconic Teton photos, start at Oxbow Bend at sunrise (so you get the reflection of the Tetons in the river), then move south, stopping at the Snake River Overlook, then move on to Schwabachers Landing, and then the Moulton Barns (which aren't far from the Shane Cabin). The light at the Moulton Barns is good until about ten a.m. There are many, many more photo spots, but those are some of the classics. For Yellowstone you're going to be doing a TON of driving, because it's such a big freaking park (bigger than Delaware and RI combined.). It gets crowded once school is out, especially at the usual suspects (Grand Prismatic Springs, Lower Falls of the Yellowstone, & Old Faithful, to name a few.). The road system only lets you see 3% of the park and that's about all that 95% of the tourists ever see. So plan on some hikes. Learn how to use bear spray and never hike without it. That goes for all three parks. Best wildlife viewing is Lamar Valley, sunrise and sunset. Hayden Valley is good, too. Ask the rangers if there are any bison or elk carcasses, because that might allow you to see the two of the Holy Trinity of Wildlife (griz and wolf. The 3rd is the moose. You have a better chance of seeing them in Grand Teton.). When you head north to Glacier, if you're in no rush, take state road 83 north of Butte, which will take you past tons of lakes and state parks, such as Salmon Lake, Seely Lake, Swan Lake and so on. You could spend an entire summer just on those lakes. Make sure you get your grocery shopping done before you get to Glacier, because there really isn't anything near the park, other than those little general stores that sell a limited number of things for five times the normal price. You won't be able to take your rig on the Going to the Sun Road, which you probably know, but your truck is fine. If you want to get a parking spot at the Avalanche Lake trailhead or at the Logan Pass Visitor's Center, you have to get an early start. I mean really early. Hikers park at Logan Pass, and then head out on all day hikes. That's why there's usually no parking for people just traveling the road and wanting to stop at the Visitor's Center. The good thing is that the park does run a free shuttle along the GTTS, so that's always an option. I'd say spend half your time on the west side of the park and then drag your rig over to the east, so you can see Lake Saint Mary and Wild Goose Island, plus Many Glacier. It all depends upon your time available. I would recommend that one day while on the east side you drive up into Alberta to visit Waterton Lakes National Park (which borders Glacier). It's very close. Have afternoon tea at the Prince of Wales Hotel, one of the iconic hotels in North America, built by the Great Northern Railway in 1927. Oh, and AT&T cell service is great in Waterton, as opposed to non-existent in Glacier. My wife considers staying at the POW camping. Anyway, didn't mean to make this so long, but I've been going to those parks since 1969, and I'm sort of addicted to them.

Holy cow! That's a lot of great info! We went through Glacier a few months ago and yellowstone and Teton after that. My girls flew in for Teton and Yellowstone. We really enjoyed it all! Rand McNally has come a long way in the past few years. The trucking company I drive for has the older TND760 commercial use navigation, messaging, and logging units. I’m liking the updated graphics of yours. The older McNallys looked like an elementary school class drew and colored the maps. Looking into retiring with a class A or larger C (30-35ft) in about 4-6 years. I’m loving the information you and a few others are putting out there to help getting my ducks in a row. Tom Tom has a truckers/RV GPS. It has many of the features you mentioned. Tom Tom comes with LIFETIME maps plus crowd sourced corrections. If enough users report errors the maps are updated. I get updates at least once a month. You can have multiple vehicles entered and easily switch between them. I have the rig (same size as yours) plus just the tow vehicle entered. Escapees Club has a planning map as well. If you go to Joshua Tree there are VERY few spots for a giant. I found Joshua Tree Lakes RV Campground. ALL the spots for RVs are pull through. They have water and power but no septic. You can use the dump station as you leave. They have a lake (in the desert) and an astronomy site to see the stars. The prices are much less than the 'premium' resorts since it is also near Palm Springs. In addition, many of the Moose, Elks and other such organizations have RV sites!

Excellent detail! I'm guilty of not planning too much, and since I drive solo, I don't stop to make calls or look at books. I have the Garmin RV 770, and it's okay, but has a lot of screen clutter I can't delete. I suspect Garmin sells ads to these places. I wish the Garmin had my old Garmin's "detour" feature if there's a traffic accident or bottleneck. It doesn't. It does pair to the rear camera I have on the trailer, though. I actually tried using two GPS's, one for traffic and data, the other for routing and large screen! I'm going to try Harvest Hosts this year! ...I'm having a hard time justifying $50/night at a commercial campground when I'm just arriving late and leaving in the morning.

Very helpful video. One point on the elevation that I found important when living in Idaho is the cooler temperatures at higher elevations. Many trips were timed so we drove through higher elevations ahead of storms and freezing temps. You will also want to think about cold nights! Summer nights can get very chilly in the mountains.

Should give Furkot a test. Put in your location and destination, then how long you want to drive - then it puts the tents where you want to spend the night (the length of your drive) - it will also drop in gas stops as well. You can look for camping in there as well. I put in google maps beside that for general searching. On my old truck, it had a small tank, so it was crucial to find the truck stops - not so much of a problem with the 450.
@ChangingLanes
@ChangingLanes 5 жыл бұрын
We looked at it.. just has too much non RV clutter for us. What we live about Rv Trip Wizard is that it's specifically for RVers without any extraneous features. Having a large gas tank is a must! Our's is 48 gallons.. Same on the 450 or larger?
@majikmajik

Changing Lanes. I totally understand. Plus Once you become used to one system, it’s hard to change to another system. Yes. It’s the same size gas tank as you. Makes the long hauls a lot easier. Just went from Sacramento to Philadelphia this month.

Thank you 😊 you two are amazing to follow. We are new to Rving with a 40’ Fifthwheel toyhauler and have planned our mi winter to beautiful sunny Fl. I have planned three and 1/2 months but it took ALOT of internet/phone and planning to get into the different Rv parks. I will definitely be investing in one of these gps . Thx again for letting us follow you through your travels of so much knowledge!😊Happy Glamping😎

Great GPS/Planning tips and showcase. But, we carry a Print Rand McNally Road Atlas just for some critical GPS directions' confirmations and backup. We have had GPS take us 2 to 3 hours "the wrong way" when blindly taking the routes and turns it suggests.

Well, that's also one reason I put in the destination and confirm the route the night before.... Don't need any mis-routing like that. That would be a real drag! LOL Good idea to have a hard copy atlas on hand too! Thanks for watching, Marc! Hope you check out the rest of our channel! 😊

We have a 32' Motorhome, pulling a 16' (bed only) flatbed trailer with our SUV on it. We have reserved a site in Lakeland, Fl. for January and February. We will be traveling from Ohio and plan a 3 day trip to get there. We can't drive further than 300+/- miles per day. We can't figure where to camp the 2 nights while traveling.

Tip from a former over planner. Plan less, see more, relax more. A great example of this can be seen on some other channels that also have very large rigs that never make reservations. Less planning means less stress to keep a schedule and gives you the freedom to change plans on a moments notice if you see a sign for something interesting along the way. It really comes down to how much time you have and if you are vacationing or full-timing and moving with the temperature/seasons and enjoying life as you go. Best thing I have found is to look at CGs websites in the area and then using the satellite and street view to get a good idea of if you can fit. Reviews are somewhat helpful but consider people are more likely to leave bad reviews than they are good ones in general.

Our new 328m is a huge to us, but tiny compared to 44'. Your organized navigation is helping reduce some of my stress towing it. I also have the Overdryve (met TechnoRV in Tampa) & I'm still geting used to it coming from Garmin units. I need to get my copilot to watch this now.

Another feature of Google Maps is that you can search for places to visit. Museums, parks, actually anything you want. You click the ribbon icon to add it to 'want to go'. You can turn this on and off so you can review places along any route. I use Trip Advisor for 'places to go' for everywhere I go. I have found few gems this way.

1) So timely on the GPS. We're switching from a Class A to 5th wheel, and I can't use my huge iPad as my GPS anymore. 2) But let me tell you - Teton Valley in Victor ID is a very nice park, and great people. I was there last July, and it was a great launching spot for lots of activities in the area (we did 4 days of hiking). In fact, one day I took my friend up to Yellowstone from there and we went all the way around the outside loop - it was a 16 hour day, but it was great. But do not, I repeat, do not take the Teton Pass with a big rig. They made a change in Hoback (put in a roundabout) and I missed my turn, and ended up having to do that pass. It's not a good idea. Do yourself a great favor and take the route that brings you by Palisades Reservoir - it's beautiful, truly beautiful, and it's a safer route as well (and won't bother the regular traffic on that pass). I'm sure you probably already have it, but the Mountain Directory West is a must-have for traveling out there. Wish there was a way that RV Trip Wizard (et al) could incorporate that excellent content in digital / software form…

Thanks for this very informative video. I learned a great deal from it about using Google for planning and the robust features of RV Trip Wizard. I also have total appreciation for the value of planning, especially with a large rig. We have a 41' class A and, like you, are happy with our choice and recognize the limitations that come with an RV of this size. I own a Rand McNally RV 70 Tablet (now discontinued, but a sibling of the Overdryve 70) and use their TripMaker (looks like the former Good Sam software) program to plan our travel. Like RV Trip Wizard I'm able to do the planning on my computer which includes adding stops, finding points of interest, photo ops, rest stops, etc. Once done I turn on my RV 70 tablet and it automatically downloads my trip. Then, from the TripMaker app on the GPS I "send" it to RV GPS app with a button click. The RV GPS considers the travel plan as a multi-stop trip as it includes all stops along the trip path. Overall, the Tripmaker software and RV GPS is a bit quirky, but it makes travel planning pretty easy. TripMaker does have a 2005-ish looking interface, but I heard that Rand McNally is in the process of updating it. All that said I was wondering in your research if you looked at TripMaker and how you would compare it with RV Trip Wizard? ...Steve

I agree with Eric’s video’s.Does a nice job. What I to see on he’s series was how to import all the work I would do on Trip Wizard lets say and put that route as an option to RM GPS. Garmin had base camp which wasn’t that easy to me. I want to use Trip Wizard , load into Rand M GPS and then tell me if thats a bad road plan. If you get my drift. Seems that you have to do all this planning on wizard and then redo on GPS. Rand M has a tripmaker but Eric has not shown that yet as a tool to see if that will use RV settings while your making the road plans and then use the GPS for driving. Thanks. Love your channel.
