Ortega and Rondo both make 8 string classical guitars, better known as a "Brahms" guitar (if anyone wanted a cool couch guitar to noodle on). G&G makes production fretless 6 (also fun for noodling). Can confirm Carvin/Keisel has the neck profiles - got me an LB76F a while back to start learning First Fragment and and basically whatever DiGiorgio is up to. This thing *rips* - so liquid and ephemeral, it moves itself under my fingers. Good stuff. Good interview. Good chat. Thanks for having us.

Archspire is a "something". Any videos about each of every band members is so special. They are such a unique musician and human being.

This rules. Dean and Claine are two of my favorite people on YT, and Archspire is one of my fave bands. Lovely seeing this chill sit-down with Dean that's so different from his usual content. Also YES to an 80's AF 8 string from Kiesel. Let's make it happen, Jeff.

Really love these videos. Something about a couple guitar nerds (which I say endearingly) talk about specs is really relaxing and nice to watch. Thanks Keyan

17:08 The 9 - 80 gauge for 8 string drop E is perfect imo but goes to show that there are a lot of different preferences on strings and no one right solution for everyone

Keisel needs to make him a pair of boots to match the headstock - I've always thought it looked like a crazy shoe. Wait, he uses wood so I guess he'd have to make him some clogs. To match.

any tips on controling the string tuning when picking hard? i use 9-84 on my 8-string and cant seem to control it
@jamesfindice287111 ай бұрын
What scale length? Do you mean pitch drift when picking? First thing is lighter picking in that case
@jfo30007 ай бұрын
I think how hard you pick, is part of the artform, to manifest the sharpness at the attack, when desired. It's part of the sound going all the way back to Sabbath. But yeah, as stated above, pick lighter...dont dig in as deep/dont squeeze the pick as tightly when you dont want the sharpie.
@odralebazerimar90847 ай бұрын
Sometimes it depends on the scale length. 27 inch baritones should be able to hold their tuning especially with an Evertune

The market for 8 string guitars is bigger than ever. I’m not sure wtf Dean is talking about. Recently I got a Legator 8 string and the neck is amazing imo. I know Keisel makes incredible guitars. But for the price point, there is many options.
