That's the most beautiful sticker book I've ever seen! I had no idea they made hardback ones like that. I just found it online for $8 and placed an order! Thanks for the recommendation!

Love the video. Lots of great ideas. I; kind of surprised that you didn't mention stencils and diecuts, though. Some stencils and screens have very detailed images that can be great for borders, corners, etc.

Good call! Other than simple shapes, I haven’t tried stencils much. I haven’t tried die-cuts at all. There are certainly opportunities to explore.

At around 32:00, I have so many cut-out journal elements like that which I have collected or made over the past year. I didn't know how to store everything so I ended up getting a binder with clear sleeves, and organizing all my elements by colour. My art journal spreads are usually based on colour mood for that day so I find the specific colour elements I want in that section of my binder each time.

Nice presentation. You might explore other magazines besides those geared specifically to art and for large text. Card making magazines are good not only for illustrations but also layouts or sketches for pages and large journal cards. Better Homes and Gardens often have good size areas of vibrant colors in their adds as well as fun illustrations. Nat. geographies make great travel postcards as well as great animal and space illustrations. Don’t forget tourist brochures from the racks in the lobby of motels and travel centers. 💜🐞

I've heard that if you put a couple of layers of clear gesso on glossy stickers, it will take off the shine.

The sticker book looks so cool, but do the stickers have a white border? I much prefer without. Thank you for the great ideas!!
@KeyLimeInk4 ай бұрын
Hi! The Antiquarian Sticker Book has borders (backgrounds, really) which differ by page. They are mostly pastel -- cream, pink, light green, light blue, etc. The Paper House Seasonal Sticker Book has white borders on most of the designs. Hope this helps!

Amazing suggestions. This is exactly for me as someone who cant draw. Btw, what epson printer do you use?
@KeyLimeInk3 ай бұрын
Thank you! It's an Epson WorkForce Pro. I don't think the actual model number matters, as they all use water-resistant ink. I'll warn you that it has its quirks, but it's worth it to be able to print swatch cards or illustrations on watercolor paper or to have photos which won't be ruined if they get a drop of water near them.

I have had this book for several years and I do have to say that these stickers don’t stay stuck.
@KeyLimeInk4 ай бұрын
For me it really depends on the paper. I’ve had no issues within my notebooks and inserts. The only time I’ve had a sticker pop up is on a coated journal cover. It sure didn’t like sticking to that!

Printing in colour from cards, etc, you must use an enormous amount of ink????
@KeyLimeInk4 ай бұрын
Hello, and welcome! I actually don't need to print that often. Since I'm also using a mix of my own illustrations, stickers, ephemera, magazine clippings, and greeting cards I've received I typically just print collages of my recent photos. I do that about once a season. I'll make a spread with "winter highlights" . . . "spring highlights" . . . etc. Staples messed up delivery of one of my ink orders and sent me another full set to apologize. I've admittedly been more apt to print this summer since I have "extra" right now! :)

2 tips: 1) use can use thin vellum pasted on top of glossy stickers to matify them, w varying levels of success. experiment. 2) if you want to remove glossiness from sticker surfaces don't use clear gesso. gesso is used as ground, which means, no matter the composition, there's always a layer of grit to it that's unsuitable for smoothed finished surfaces that require to only lose their shine, instead of having a transformed texture. if you're inclined to experiment, use ⇾ matte medium ⇽ itself. it's inherently snooth, and different brands have different clarity. matte medium "fogs" up glossiness. some matte mediums leave an obvious visual residue. so use a matte spray for better application and experiment w different brands. expensive, yes, but unfortunately, I've found, like makeup, art supplies need to be used to ve tailored to every single person and it truly depends on taste and preferences. bonus tip 3) if you have a inkjet printouts or anything that bleeds when wet, use a gloss medium spray to seal it and use matte spray to cut the shine. this can be tricky in application cz there's a sweet spot where this step works and tons of margins that it doesn't. so, again, experiment. i always have a stash of 'ready to be experimented upon' set of supplies that i use for confirmation and troubleshooting art techniques. making gesso, changing surface textures, transforming one art medium to another ⇽all require experimentation w every new iteration or raw material. good luck
