I worked for Gen Patraeus in Afghanistan. Always thought highly of him.

I've always really liked general patraeus. I only wish we could have him as president for 8 years. Definitely displays the best judgment looking back. Would love to see him debate or discuss China with Peter Zeihan. Take care everyone

Should Mr. Petraeus, at any point in time, decide to run for the US President, he's got quite a good chance (1) to win, and (2) to be the best US President since late 1980s.

So, is your assertion that the wars in the middle east were complete failures, or one army general was responsible, or both? If you knew anything about what it takes to build a career as successful as his, you may have just kept this comment to yourself.

@@joshuavaillancourt9877 anyone with a brain knows that the wars in the Middle East were a waste, there were NO WMD after all. but hey, we got the oil! If you knew anything about Powell and F500 interests, you would keep your comment to yourself.
@joshuavaillancourt98772 жыл бұрын
@@odoylerules4503 the original comment was an attack on a person. You are referring to big picture strategic outcome tied to 20 year old foreign policy. If you want to compare notes about old failed foreign policy, we can, but why? The whole mess was based on a knee jerk reaction following 9/11 that some shady characters in DC took advantage of. What you're saying isn't wrong, but it has nothing to do with what I said previously. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I suppose.

Yeah, Kodak had a moment that killed it. Sears was perfectly positioned to do Amazon's role. All they had to do was digitize a catalog or shift into chemistry completely, and they paid the price for failing to do that. They did not move some manufacturing to china and they couldn't compete in price. IBM survived, but they found themselves offloading liabilities. Leaders have to keep their head up and know what their organization can flex on and what they have to finess around.

The inkblot, living in the 'hood, and teaching 24/7 from shooting to toilet paper is what was working in Vietnam. Leaders have to be results involved, not ego involved. Leaders also have to be able to figure out how to adapt to other folks big ideas and fill in some of the blank spots that the higher leaders cannot cover.
