The coolest thing about this band is how they write and record these songs in pieces. Their guitarist actually produced and recorded this album. The drummer records with a Roland V-Drum kit all with high end drum samples, and the bass playing is all programmed midi tracks. They show what is possible without a big studio, and without even all being present in the same studio. They write their parts and email them back in forth. Stevic is the guitarist/producer, and he's the big visionary of the band, with the insane skill in all these wacky genres they can play. They are all huge Mr. Bungle fans.

I love watching you react these videos, because I dissect things in a lot of the same way you do even though I'm not a composer or anything like that. Just a person who's loved music his whole life and has a really good ear. People don't understand when I tell them that music can actually give me the chills or goosebumps, or as you call it chicken skin. I've tried to explain to people that I listen to music on a different level and in a different way than most people do and they don't get it, but now I know that I'm not alone!

A lot of the tone or low tunings come from the line 6 gear they use, the shuriken variax guitars allow you to change tunings, guitar models and with the models, different pickups with a turn of a knob or using your pick up toggle, the line 6 pedals also store your guitar tunings in the pedals, so instead of flicking the knobs the pedal does it all, the cool thing about the tunings is your guitar stays tuned to E standard, but it can be dropped I think as low as G without touching the tuning pegs, also has acoustic guitar models, uke, banjo and sitar built in the tech, really cool guitars

As others have mentioned TFN and Jinjer toured together and became friends, thus the invite from Kin Etik to Tatiana to collab. The fact that Tatiana gave a definite yes without hearing a single note of the song or having any idea what it was about says something about their mutual respect. Stevic (the guitarist) is an absolute genius. Not only does he have his own signature design guitar and pedal set up that can change tunings mid song, but he also engineers and produces the albums and used to be a lecturer. Not exactly what he and the band are doing now. They now only have 3/5 members, which is an absolute shame, but very grateful for the work they have done nonetheless. I think you'd really enjoy chatting with Stevic about how he produces TFN albums. I'm 90% sure that the horns in this track were programmed in by midi. The drums are all recorded on Roland electronic kits to save on cost as well.

The coolest part about this band is the fact the guitarist uses a "modeling" guitar so he can change his tuning on the fly and keep the strings in a standard e tension. So all the cool drop tunings and acoustic guitar stuff can be played on one electric guitar. I believe it's called the line 6 shuriken.

Once I "discovered" 12 Foot Ninja five years ago, I haven't turned back. It's an underrated song, but check out "Oxygen," similar to "one hand killing," it exemplifies their talent & sound.
