New York 1971 - Public Talk 1 - To be aware of our past
Summary:
To examine there must be no distortion. Distortion will inevitably come into being when there is fragmentation, when one part of you condones or condemns what you observe.
We are the result of propaganda, what we have been told from childhood to believe and not to believe.
Knowledge is the past; there is no knowledge in the present.
To be aware without choice is to observe without the observer, which is the past, the image-maker.
Q: Should a man who does not truly love himself try to help others love themselves? Should anyone try to help anyone?
Q: What is your opinion of Buddha?
Q: Could we talk about distraction?
Note: a total of 8 minutes and 50 seconds of missing video is replaced by audio only.
---
This channel is managed by the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust, UK, and by the Krishnamurti Foundation of America.
The role of the foundations was described by Krishnamurti when he said, 'The foundations will see to it that these teachings are kept whole, are not distorted, are not made corrupt. They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person.'
We maintain extensive archives of Krishnamurti's original works and all four Krishnamurti foundations are actively engaged in the publication of material in various forms.
Our videos contain thousands of subtitles in more than 25 languages, translated by volunteers from all over the world. If you would like to help us with translating subtitles, please contact us at digital@kfoundation.org

You forgot globalist politicians and occultists. By the sheer number of them and the combined power they hold, it can easily be argued that they are the biggest "offenders". Krishnamurti, Nisargadatta, and I'm sure many others mention it frequently that those who organize in order to plan "the salvation of the world" always become authoritarians hell-bent on control and manipulation of others. The problem is that the biggest offenders are the ones who most need to hear these messages and heed their warnings (I'm speaking of those who hold enormous power and push the buttons to create vast sweeping change on a global scale). Don't get me wrong, we ALL need to discover this truth and apply it in our lives, but comparing your average blue collar factory worker with the Davos/WEF/UN attendees, it's easy to see how this information is even more relevant for the "movers and shakers". The problem is that these are the people least interested in hearing a message like this.

It’s takes effort and energy to apply this to ones daily life. Don’t just watch this and store it as knowledge only. One must have an unbiased awareness and observe, see what comes of it. It’s a very serious thing indeed not something one dilly dallies around with.
@stopthinkingtoday
@stopthinkingtoday 3 жыл бұрын
What he is talking about is effortless, thus energyless. Mind wants effort. Choiceless observation is total stillness or non-action. When there is no action, observation is fully taking place. You are like a bag experiencing anything that appears in it. Look at a newborn baby, 0 effort thus pure observation. To reject the mind takes no effort. Life takes care of itself, you (as a mind made entity) just gotta dissapear and let it do its work, by not engaging with the mind. Stay clean, by not getting entangled into anything.

its not only to be simply be aware. Awareness can be misinterpreted easily with alertness and we try to control what we perceive based on our knowledge and all that. But just to simply observe yourself is soo difficult because you need to be really authentic to who you are. If you are an a*hole know that you are without becoming it. Dont try to hide yourself from yourself . To live without any control is let your deepest secrets and desire to come out naturally. You are observing all this without any control and without becoming it (extremely difficult takes great clarity and understanding to break free of patterns) . Thought being the "me" the "ego" must really be understood and it is extremely difficult because it is always changing and in movement. And it is extremely difficult not to be judgmental. So there is a great amount of difficultly to simply observe oneself.

@maheshn9970
@maheshn9970 2 жыл бұрын
Towards the end of the lecture K, in a reply to question asked by a gentleman, says that one must be aware (choiselesly) even when the mind wanders off. How the hell is that possible? We realise that the mind has wandered only further down the thought. We catch ourselves thinking and then we come back to the object of focus. That is the very basis of meditation. THERE IS NO AWARENESS WHEN THE MIND HAS WANDERED. Lack of awareness is the very reason why the mind wandered in the first place.
@SkandPujari
@SkandPujari Жыл бұрын
Let us go slowly here. Suppose one is walking through a forest towards a village. The path is well-marked. But there are places where one can wander off. Suppose one wanders off. At the precise moment when one has gone off to a different path, one obviously does not realize it. It is only after a few steps one realizes that one has gone off. What happens when the realization dawns ? There is a quick retracing of one's steps to get onto the correct path. Now, this is a very physical thing. Also, there is a right path which leads to the village and a wrong path which leads to the wilderness. All that K is pointing out is in psychological matters there is nothing right or wrong. The thing that you want to pay attention to and the thing that you wander off are of equal importance. It does not matter when you realize that your attention has gone somewhere else. But the moment you realize it, rather than kicking yourself, realize that where you went was of great importance too - perhaps greater than what you were trying to cultivate. That is what I feel is the detailed explanation of 'moment you attend to the so-called distraction, there is attention".

Viktor Frankl: “Responsibility gives meaning to life. “ It seems to me that this man had depression and in a quest to find happiness realized that without meaning he can’t be happy, so he decided to take responsibility for things to become happy but then understood that everything is meaningless to him, so trying to take responsibility for something meaningless is meaningless which is why he decided to take responsibility for everything which MUST have some meaning or so he thought. But the truth is that he was running away from the fact that he couldn’t truly love anyone so he decided to make everything his responsibility (which in effect makes nothing your responsibility)
