@Lij fi Yeah I would definitely say his rise was the least exciting but there was definitely a lot of buzz about him as the future champ early on. It's just every time he'd step up, he'd miss weight or end up taking long periods of time off. Whereas the other guys were a lot more full steam ahead kind of thing, Khabib's rise was more of a slow burn.

@@akindtroll28 Exactly this. It wasn't the same as Jones, McGregor because it wasn't really in our faces. But you could tell when you watched him fight. Especially from the RDA fight onwards.

@@sarcasticgenius8563 I never watched khabibs early fights, was he boring or something? I always remember it was known that he was probably the best but there was some weird stigma or something? I ask because I felt like that was the narrative and he definitely wasn't boring when I started watching his fights so I'm genuinely curious? Seemed like a "he's not exciting, not going for finishes, doesn't deserve a push" kinda thing but I didn't see those fights?

@@mattr27 I hope you realize there is no way Hermanson would have beat Usman in a wrestling match. Post college in 2011, Usman was ranked in the top 10 in the nation in freestyle wrestling. TOP 10 IN THE NATION. I get Khamzat is undefeated in Sweden's nationals. But I'm sorry to say, Sweden's wrestling is trash compared to American's wrestling. There is a reason he has 100% takedown defense. I honestly don't see anything yet that would make me believe that he's a better wrestler than Usman. If we are talking about grappling, then Khamzat is ofc better bc of his top control. But as far as taking someone down and keeping them down, Usman is 2nd to none in the UFC.

Just wach the video of khamzat with geathje, or when he face off chiesa you will realise he is just a big natural 170er. And he usually is 195 out side of fight camp. He has the size to compete at 185, but 170 is his natural weight class, the fact he can take multiple fights on short notice at 170, just shows you how comfortable he usually make the weight.

I think a couple of years in 170, then 185 a few more years, and if he still feels like competing at a later age, he can go even higher. With his body type and time on his side, he can do these things. But 170 at a later age might be too much for him due to weight cuts.
