@@ashtonbutler2082 Hay John, just wondering, what is your speciality? You are blessed with a spectrum mind for a reason. Find it, do it, and those idiot treaters will eat their words. xx

1. Always use Identity first language. Don't say "person with autism". say "autistic person". 2. actually, it's a fact that girls and boys are autistic at roughly the same rate. the reason it's been thought to be with mostly buys is because of, quite simply, sexism and preconceived false ideas. 3. It's not just kids. sometimes people don't get diagnosed until late adulthood.

Odette Mariposa No, it’s actually fact that they are finding more and more women have autism. They are just usually better at hiding it, or as it’s called masking. You can google search and check KZbin videos. Autism was more limited and not as understood in the past.

Pete S. and most of what we know of autism is based off of only boys. there are big differences in autism in girls and autism in boys

Jules, some people do not want their identity to be centralized around their autism diagnosis. Some do. I work with people with autism and prefer to use the terms "child/individual with autism" because it is more ambiguous and assumes less about their identity preference. It merely states the fact of the matter, that they were diagnosed with autism. It really is just up to your preference and what you think sounds right.
@juliodavis36014 жыл бұрын
@@Jazzhands1337 Yeah, of course it's the ND person's preference, however when you are talking about the autism community in general, always divert to identity first language, as many surveys and studies have proven that the overwhelming majority of autistic people prefer it. Also, are you autistic? If not, then why the heck do you feel compelled to "correct" an autistic person regarding the preferred language of the autism community, a community which you are not a part of. (If you are autistic, then I take back my last two sentences.)

@Odette Mariposa It's more frequently *diagnosed* in boys. That doesn't mean more boys are autistic. This is the fault of sexism, quite frankly.

But males are more susceptible to genetic diseases due them only having one x. Not saying girls aren't underdiagnosed but it's not a surprise to see more boys having more genetic diseases than girls.

lol aside from the gender thing, i have literally never met an autistic person that only had interest in one or two things. theres a differwnce between hyperfixations and "only having interest in"
