Why is only loading an active process? As in, the transportation from the phloem to the destination cell is through osmosis, but the loading process needs energy.
@indiafirst7955
@indiafirst7955 3 жыл бұрын
We can just use energy once n then rest would be taking care of by the various (osmotic, pressure) gradient. It's like taking a cycle uphill n the downhill travel can happen (either left or right) without using energy.

Sir then how in roots at night where xylem is present active process takes which helps in maintaining root pressure as u have told about this in previous video???
@rajpalkaur5677
@rajpalkaur5677 4 жыл бұрын
exactly when the cells are dead, how does active process takes place?
@manojmankotia5707
@manojmankotia5707 3 жыл бұрын
The active process doesn't occur in the xylem. If u cut a section of the root hair ull have to go through layers of cells (epidermis,cortex,endodermis, pericycle) and then u reach the xylem.. the active transport takes place in these cells(which are live) which pushes the water into the xylem

Actually, the osmotic pressure of the phloem increases because the water that the cell already had, has been used up to generate energy (energy is generated by breaking the bonds of ATP with water) in order to move the sugar. Now this area has low concentration of water and that's why water from xylem flows into it, creating pressure and the need to move the sap either up or down.

Sir you have told that loading and unloading are active process .But as you have told earlier that if concentration in storage cell is higher then it will automatically diffuse,so in that case is it also active process?
@deshnadey7911
@deshnadey7911 3 жыл бұрын
no, thats just normal diffusion, what he said was, that certain amount of it gets diffused and if there is requirement for further amount of starch then energy is used which makes it an active process
