@Jaiyaxhkateacher2 жыл бұрын
@@jibankrishnamuhuri5518 I think if come to reality the charge will actually loose potential energy by moving as it convert into heat energy , so if they keep moving they will loose some potential energy and ultimately before reaching the battery of the negative side it will loose its potential energy and they regain . That's why when you connect a circuit without a load it loses some potential energy not all but some and it regain the energy through the battery

Again, What made the electron move from the positive pole to the negative pole ? is the poles themselves or the chemicals that push them or the difference between their potential energy ?
@himanshupriyadarshi1186 Жыл бұрын
Hi! So first up the electrons DONT move from positive to negative pole but the other way round, that is from negative to positive. Also, the chemicals inside the battery are generating energy which act on the electrons to make them move across the circuit.

Using his analogy one could have been more succinct. If mgh represents gravitational potential energy (PE), Voltage is analogous to the "gh" bit or gravitational acceleration x height in the direction of acceleration. In electricity gravitational acceleration is represented by electric field E (which also is acceleration) and height by d (displacement) along the E direction. Just as multiplying gh by mass = mgh (gravitational potential energy) so multiplying Ed by q = qEd = electrical potential energy. The "Ed" bit is also called Voltage or EMF. Thats it in a paragraph Recapping, gh is analogous to Ed or Voltage or EMF or "POTENTIAL". Multiplying with q gives Potential Energy (PE)

Sir,in the example with potential difference of 1.5 V, what if there was no bulb, then positive charges will still keep on flowing from positive side to negative(i.e:electrons will keep on moving from negative to positive side of battery).But there wouldn't be any resistance as per our assumption, so no heat will be generated.Then will it still do 1.5 J work/coloumb?

@KhanAcademyIndiaEnglish3 жыл бұрын
You are right, technically that statement isn't very accurate - thanks for pointing it out. It works as long as we are talking about mechanical energy (kinetic/potential). You can transfer heat without doing any mechanical work. In your example, your chemical energy is converted to heat.

For creating the electric current motion, you explained that positive terminal of the batery pushes the charges away from them, and the negative terminal of the battery pulls towards it. I understand that, but what if instead of having a negative terminal we have another positive terminal but "more positive"? I think there will still be a potencial difference because the charges of the terminals will be different, but, will both positive terminals push the positives charges away from them? (sorry for my bad english)
@KhanAcademyIndiaEnglish5 жыл бұрын
In that case, the "more positive" terminal will push with stronger force than the other terminal. Hence it will end up pushing the charges away. But I am not sure if in reality such a battery exist :)

What happen if we connect negative terminal of a battery with positive terminal of another battery?will current flow ?
