The history of Anatolia is associated with many great civilizations of world history. However, the more recent history was written by the Turks, who have inhabited and ruled Anatolia for roughly a millennium. It is commonly believed that at some point during the Crusades, the Seljuk Turkish tribe migrated to Anatolia, fought a few wars against Byzantium and then suddenly out of nowhere, the Ottomans appeared, conquered Constantinople and rose to become a world empire. But history is not that simple.
Such an account implies that apart from the Seljuks and the Ottomans, there were no other Turkish empires or principalities, or at least that they were not worthy to be mentioned, and that only the Seljuks and the Ottomans influenced Turkish history. But in order to understand why Turkey is inhabited by mostly people belonging to the Turkish ethnic group, why Turkish culture became so dominant and how the fall of the Seljuks is related to the rise of the Ottomans.
We need to look at the very period that is largely ignored in media portrayals for after the fall of the House of Selcuk and before the establishment of the Ottoman Sultanate, Anatolia was divided into many smaller states. The so-called beyliks.

Two points in your video, which you may want to consider and correct: (1) The Hittites were not of Indo-Germanic but Indo-European origin. They occupied most of the Minor Asian peninsula during the Bronze Age and spoke mainly the Akkadian language. The Hittite civilization collapsed at the end of the Bronze Age leaving behind evidence of their existence in the form of a vast amount of clay tables in Cuneiform script, one of the earliest in human history (the deciphered script used also by Sumerians, Assyrians and other Mesopotamian civilizations). (2) Constantinople was not called Byzantium, but was the capitol of the Byzantine Empire. In your video you are probably referring to "Byzantion" (gr. -Βυζάντιον), the ancient Greek city of the Classical period, referenced, among other Classical and Hellenistic writers, by Xenophon in Book VII of the "Persian Expedition" he wrote in 370 BC. Ευχαριστώ/Teşekkürler!

@@youknow8653 Not so. 800 CE to 1100 CE (approx), the Turkic Khazar created an empire centered in the Ararat mountain range. During that time the Kaganate elite adopted Rabbinic Judaism, and the lower rank soldiery (the simple tribesmen) adopted Karaite Judaism. When the Rus defeated the Khazar, the Seljuq branch conquered eastern Anatolia. At that time they held to Judaic practises. One generation later they switched to Islam. The word pagan should not be used, since it is quite undefined.

Turkmen is literally what the Turks of the Oguz Yabgu State called themselves, to differentiate themselves from other Turks like the Kipchaks, Pecheneg, Karluk and so on. So Turkmen in this sense literally means "Turks of the Oguz". In Turkish, there is no differentiation anyway between "Turkic" or "Turkish", by the way. Never has been. In none of the sources whatsoever. It's always just been "Turks", but with some sort of addendum to showcase their different lineages. And "Turkmen" is one of these cases. See also: Lewis, G. (1974) The Book of Dede Korkut. Maħmūd al-Kašğari (11th century) "Dīwān Luğāt al-Turk"
@ahal_gokdepe

@@KhansDen no exactly. Turks of the Oguz Yagbu called themselves just Oghuz.. Kypchaks called themself Kypchaks etc... Oghuz that accepted Islam started calling themselves Turkmen from word Turk Iman (believing Turks). and Maħmūd al-Kašğari actually talks about that....... Also, Pechenegs are actually one of the Oghuz Tribes that got destroyed - I presume( not 100% sure) but Gagauz are descendants of Pechenegs/Becheneg...

Indeed there a theory that the array of villages in eastern Anatolia bearing names in the ASKNZ , gave their name to the Jewish group that ended up in north Europe. It is unclear whether the ethnicity of this group was Hittite, Luwite, Khazar, Israel, or other. Arthur Koestler does not have everything 100% correct.

The Reader asks us to not forget the history of the Turk in Anatolia and before that. Yet not one word was mentioned about the Turkic Khazar Empire (Kaganate) centered in the Caucasus Ararat range between the Black and Caspian Seas. Not one word about the elite adopting Rabbinical Judaism as its religion, and the lower classes adopting Karaite Judaism. Not one word about the melding of the Urartu and North Assyrians that included elements of the Kingdom of Israel, especially KIng Yehu's chariotry. Not one hint that the Seljuq were believers of Judaism at the time of conquest of Anatolia, and within one generation switched allegiance to Islam. Hiding history is a travesty.

Falsified Turkish history. Armenians ruled after Hittites. Turkish speaking nomads, Seljukes and Mongols hordes moved from the East to the West through Iran in 11-13 centuries AD. Ottoman Turkey was established in 1435 AD. Turkiye celebrated its 569th Anniversary about two months ago. There are only about 700 Turkish sites in Turkiye, about 3,400 Greek, 3,800 Armenian and 600 Jewish and Assyrian.
