Khanysia is getting so big. She has so much love all around her. All of the Herd look after her. We as humans can learn a lot from these gentle giants. The phrase "it takes a village to raise a child" is so true. Your videos makes my heart so happy. Thank you once again for sharing this herd with us.

They're orphans or their offspring so used to the caring humans around them. Wild elephants are more cautious and hence agressive, defending the herd.

They are certainly more intelligent and have a sense of awareness than what most think. But still the elephants who respond favorably when treated compassionately do respond favorably but then by nature there still will be elephants that will be adverse no matter what and you still need to respect their size and their feelings too for that matter! That ones who act adversely should not be mistreated;people just need to get out of their way😂😂😂!!!

Thank you HERD for showing Khanyisa foraging with the herd on nice green vegetation. I love the way they allow Khanyisa to rest her little legs for a short while then nudge her gently when the rest is long enough and it's time to get back on her feet. And when she is back up, a little check up is carried out to make sure all parts are in order. These creations of God are truly wonderfully made!

I find it amazing how agile the elephants are, avoiding stepping on Khanyisa, considering how often I have stepped on my cat's tail or my dog's paw! Beautiful to watch the matriarch care for her little girl.

I'm happy when I see the carers Last and Shepherd smiling. I know that all the carers and other team members take their jobs very seriously, but it is so nice when they find it to be amusing, too. We out here watching think it must be a lot of fun! Also I enjoyed the bird singing in the distance.

When you look back at Khanyisa’s arrival at HERD.....many could be forgiven for thinking she wouldn’t make it, having seen the dreadful damage done to her ears, cuts right thru to her mouth etc by a snare. It’s pure joy to watch her recovery, her acceptance of Adine , her staff and the herd, who enveloped her in their love & protection. What a truly inspiring story........with many chapters ,yet to be written. Love from a snow covered Scotland ❣️🇬🇧🏴

I have watched this video previously, but I just can't help watching our little munchkin! She brings me such joy! Khanyisa is such a loving, open hearted, character! I absolutely LOVE how she trustingly throws her trunk right around Last! Here's something to ponder. Sebakwe seems to watch Khanyisa's play time quite a bit. Do you think he remembers when he was little? Do you think that any wild animal has a memory like that? I mean, he seems so curious when he's watching her.

Trunk hugs from Khanyisa! How touching and beautiful. Tokwe was so careful with Khanyisa ( as always). Loved how she dusted herself and Khanyisa as well. Standing up again wasn't easy. We could see Tokwe was a pro at helping little ones. Yes, I looked at the size difference between their feet. Khanyisa has a lot of growing up to do ;) A delightful video. Thank you

Compared to adult elephants she rests and sleeps a lot though. In the nursery she sleeps a lot lying down, I doubt wild elephant babies get as good sleep.

I did wonder that, one of them passed wind, I couldn’t fathom out who it was though, the constant leg movement is the same as a human baby when they have trapped wind. ❤️🐘

I finally looked that up. Google--not necessarily the best source--says they sleep standing or lying down, standing more in the wild, because it's harder getting up.

i love how in the beginning it looks as though sebawke is being bullied by the 2 girls lol, khanyisa is laying down where he probably wanted to sand himself and then when she gets up, tamisa comes over and stands right in front of him and uses him as a scratching post XD he gives up and just eats instead

I always wonder if Limpopo’s thorough checking is due to an awareness of Khanyisa’s prior injuries and wanting to see the progress of her healing or to make sure of her overall condition. It seems she focuses a lot on the left ear, particularly behind it and then she’ll put her trunk in her mouth, like when they do the flehman response.
