Khanyisa's bottle in the bush and a helping trunk from Tokwe to get her back on her feet

When life gives you dust & drizzle 🌧
Scenes from a recent reserve roaming: Khanyisa lays down in the sand on a drizzly day in the bush, in between forage time, and dominant bull, Sebakwe and little Tmisa stand right beside her - with Matriarch Tokwe and Khanyisa’s adoptive mother, Lundi close-by too.
You can see the elephants throwing sand on their bodies with their trunks - to cover their skin for protection against insects and the sun. Then it’s bottle time!
Khanyisa wraps her little trunk around the neck of carer, Last, and then downs her milk with enthusiasm as Shepherd holds it to her mouth. Tokwe comes in for a peek!
After her milk bottle Khanyisa heads off to Lundi’s side for another rub in the sand. Sunshine goes for a third rub and a rest on her side in the sand and Tokwe moves in dusting herself beside the calf. Be sure to look at the size difference between the two elephants’ feet next to each other!
Khanyisa seems to use Tokwe’s leg as a wall as she plays about in the dirt. Eventually Tokwe helps Khanyisa up with a trunk and a foot nudge and Limpopo moves in and stays close while Khanyisa heads to the bush to resume foraging.

Thank you HERD for showing Khanyisa foraging with the herd on nice green vegetation. I love the way they allow Khanyisa to rest her little legs for a short while then nudge her gently when the rest is long enough and it's time to get back on her feet. And when she is back up, a little check up is carried out to make sure all parts are in order. These creations of God are truly wonderfully made!

She really loves to have her milk She just like a toddler drink up and nap for a bit. The other Jabulani elephants take such good care of her. The bond they all have is strong

I find it amazing how agile the elephants are, avoiding stepping on Khanyisa, considering how often I have stepped on my cat's tail or my dog's paw! Beautiful to watch the matriarch care for her little girl.

I just saw Tokwe loosen soil and kick it all over Kahnyisa! It was deliberate protection of that baby from the sun. What a matriarch. Big respect.

Khanysia is getting so big. She has so much love all around her. All of the Herd look after her. We as humans can learn a lot from these gentle giants. The phrase "it takes a village to raise a child" is so true. Your videos makes my heart so happy. Thank you once again for sharing this herd with us.

I just love following the story of Khanyisa. The love this beautiful elephant gets from her adoptive family is astounding! Each and everyone of these gentle giants are just pure love. Thank you to all of you who care and watch over these elephants. God bless all of you.
