Honestly, if it had an LFP battery I think the Kia would win 10/10 in my personal opinion. NMC batteries are fckn terrifying with the hidden potential they have.

It does look nice but the price is too close to the Tesla Model 3 RWD and I must say I am loving mine. Price needs to be low 30k for the top model and mid twenties for starting.

@Dave Takes It On At 2:45 you mention the car can charge at over 150kW, however the EV3 can charge up to 128kW in the long range model and up to 101kW in the standard range model. Your charge estimate of 31 mintes for 10% to 80% is correct, though.

Of course comparing car sizes on external dimensions is rather flawed when on is in a dedicated platform.

Ya I saw the EV3 a couple of weeks back, nice car, for me the base model (Air) is the one to go for. But as say Dave this should be down around £28k to £30k mark. Watch out for Skoda Elroq and Vauxhall Frontera. Cheers

I’m 5 weeks into owning 21 Tesla 3 RWD+ and have done 1100 miles. I truly wish I had waited a little longer as the self drive aspect is not good and I’ve stopped using it. The October s/w update made it worse, the drivers seat is not comfortable and the range is rather disappointing but it sure can fly when you feel the need for speed so in summary if you want comfort and want to spend £10k less for 3 seconds slower (0-60mph) then as Dave says, wait a little longer before splashing out….

Thanks, I already have an EV6 and the tech is fantastic,if this does carry over to the EV3 with a few more bells and whistles , then it will command the higher price. Kia and Hyundai are leading the way with their style and innovation,not everyone likes Teslas.

I have never paid 30K for any car and I’m never going to do so… I’ll just wait for the used market to get some decent EV’s, until then my 2014 Yaris with 24K miles on the clock will see me through these turbulent years in EV adoption… I suspect I am not alone…

@@andytunnicliffe7223 Perhaps it is, but I am typical of millions of people that the EV business needs for a successful roll out. I am not anti EV, I would love an EV, my next car will probably be an EV. What I am not is financially stupid… Prices will fall, they have to and the Chinese show it can be done. The market is pregnant with people like me who refuse to bankrupt themselves for convenient transport, and when EV prices realistically match or come below ICE vehicles, the change will happen… Until then, my Yaris will do fine…

@@ricco123tube For goodness sake, I know this. Companies buy new EV’s a private person with any sense would lease in these uncertain times. Look at the lease terms, so many have a 6K mileage limit… This means there will be a glut of low mileage EV’s in a few years time and there will be bargains to be had. For all the people who buy new cars (God Bless ‘Em) there are many many more who do not. All new cars hit the used market at some point and the trade needs a thriving used market… Only then will EV’s be ubiquitous

Keep your Yaris and unless it had of the awful CVT gearboxes, keep the older petrol car as long as you can! These people will fall with their EV delusion and when private motoring will be completely undermined, it won’t matter whether you have a heavily depreciating EV or a useful little petrol car.

@@ianrob4760 I live in rural SW France and 99% of my charging is at home. This is relevant because as in Britain, the charging network here is (still) a minefield of rfids, apps and accounts. This is where Tesla stands out from the rest, as on long journeys (I have a model 3 long range) although their chargers are inconveniently off Autoroutes (leave Autoroute via péage,find charger 10mins away in eg. hotel carpark, charge then drive back to péage and rejoin Autoroute) and not at service stations eg. Ionity etc, they’re still more reliable, cheaper and more predictable than anything else. However, after 3 years of having to disable automated driver assists before every drive, blocking the interior big brother camera, wondering how my screen apps will be meddled with overnight, having no buttons….i’ll happily consider something better and if it can match the easier aspects of owning an EV, it’s going to be considered .

Great video Dave... I'd love to swap my MG4 for an EV3 and be back in a Kia. I loved my EV6 but, couldn't afford to keep it #Divorce 😢 The Kia customer service and ecosystem was/is great, they push updates out frequently, you can do 'em yourself with a USB stick. The connectivity is fab and the LKA doesn't try to murder you on country roads like the MG4 🤣 My local dealer here in Sheffield was the bee's knees when it came to servicing and safety updates even applying them before they were classed as recalls. And don't get me started on the MG4 keyless start, it's dreadful.

I would say the biggest rival to the EV 3 is Kia's own Niro EV. I can't see them selling many of them after the EV 3 hits the market.

I think that Kia EV3 looks reasonable good, finally a bit shorter and a little more "sportier". Most EV's nowadays are designed by an AI inbedded in a software program with windtunnel DNA. Deadly boring EV's with the silhouette of a Tesla. But to be realy different, Kia should have brought this in a 2/3 door version. That would be something different than the endless stream of 4/5 door SUV's and sedan's. So, bring it for €25k and not €42k FYI: The Renault R5 Etech is 3900mm, the ë-C3 standard is 4020mm and the Citroën ë-C3 Aircross that you show in the video is 4400mm. This Kia EV3 is SHORTER than the Citroën ë-C3 Aircross.

Every comparison ive seen says the ex30 doesnt compare favourably in any respect. Price space range EV3 beats hands down. I did look at it but the back seats are ridiculously cramped.

Back seat size in the EX30 is tiny compared to the EV3. Both cost too much to be an attractive option.

Looking forward to getting a second hand GTS with heat pump option on 17" wheels in two-three years time. Far too expensive at £45K to buy first hand.

A heat pump is an expensive option only on the higher spec car - not the cheaper one - and heated rear seats arent even that; too many bells and whistles, not enough of what drivers want. Lovely looking car, but a Mk2 Soul EV will probably be my next buy; they are getting down into my price range (I live on disability, but am 2 points short of the mobility car).

Looks nice, good ranges too. Prices .... 2022 we would have been queuing up for this car but now there are an awful lot of competitors plus Tesla have yet to explode onto the budget market (10th) so I will reserve judgement until then. I wonder why its so cheap in other countries ? sounds like a bit of a gouge doesn't it. Still, its a cracking looking car !

We get gouged for most cars in the uk just compare tesla not just in US but also across Europe, i think Dave did a comparison recently much higher uk prices than i think every other euro country.

The UK cars are also pretty underwhelming when compared to many European specs. Heat pump is standard on all EU cars but the base spec, as is V2L. V2H and V2G is available on most EU specs, only V2L offered on the top UK spec starting at £42K. Add to this the luxury car tax for EVs costing over £40K from 1st April 2025. The UK buyers gets rinsed. Not sure what the Irish spec is like.

Yet again a manufacture says will be far lower price than it actually is released at. As a Kia driver was looking at this. But far to over priced for what it is to get a decent spec. It's just like a Soul, but with no soul... But come on Dave. 1st pic EV9, then concept pics when plenty of the actual car are out there..

I dont understand these cheap lease prices in the UK. Just compared the price of the Peugeot 208, 219GBP in the UK, and for the same EV, in the Netherlands we have to pay 390GBP. Goes for all cars, about 75% more expansive to lease in the Netherlands. I wonder why.

This is the spiritual (and almost the same size) successor to the latest (2019-) Kia Soul EV. When I come to replace my 2022 Maxx I am definitely looking closely at a nearly-new EV3

The specs are good, price not bad but it is ugly - particularly the box shaped front end. Would look better if it was streamlined like the EV6

BMW should have continued their i3 IMO. Its 4000mm long but has almost the same interior room and is faster and lighter. I am not that impressed with the design.

At 2:50 you state the battery can charge at at 150kW. What is your source for this? The information I see is 135 kW DC maximum

There are plenty of EVs out there that are much better than Tesla's offerings. I have a Skoda Enyaq which, according to the Consumers Association, beats the Model Y by quite a margin, and that is just one example. Problem you are a Tesla fanboy, sorry but it is true, and you really ought tro get out more.

I've heard Tesla owners comment about their over the air updates, citing it as an advantage. My 70 reg Skoda has over the air update connectivity..... This new Kia EV3 looks a bit Tonka Toy-ish, although I'm sure it'll be very practical. Some people prefer different choices...

The Kia EV3 will be my first EV. I decided not to buy a Tesla because I don't like not having a gauge cluster. I don't like the all glass roof either. We get too much sun here for that. Also, it's 100 miles to the nearest Tesla showroom/dealer/maintenance shop. A Kia dealer is eight miles from my house. I don't care for any of the other EV's like Chevy, Ford, and VW. Too expensive and ugly.

Heaven forbid, Ev3? it's horrific inside and out. I'm sorry, but I would want somebody to pay ME to own that. At least a grand or two a year, on condition I wore a wig and dark glasses. I wouldn't even be all that happy being offered a lift in it. Sorry. Just Sorry.
