Here in the US people who found out about this hidden gem of an EV fell in love with it and called all the dealers within 300 miles of home. Always the same answer, “we don’t have any on the lot but we can get you one in 3-6 months for $8K -$10K over MSRP. Oh, and it won’t be the color or trim you want, but too bad.” Stealer greed killed the EV-6 in the US. My wife was ready to pull the trigger but no inventory. Then Tesla stared dropping prices and the tax credit changed away from Kia and to Tesla. Game over. Too bad. It’s a great EV. But she will probably buy a model Y instead.

I did the exact thing. Was ready to get the EV6 near the end of last year. But they would not budge on the $6000 market adjustment over MSRP. So I bailed. Ordered a Model Y instead earlier this year and saved a ton.

It has been the same here in East coast Canada! Where are the Kia's? We own an aging Kia, which has been the least problematical vehicle EVER and, as a result, we are brand loyal. Where did they go? We are making do in the interim with a Sonata hybrid, also a fine car. Having been weaned from the Detroit 'cycle' of replacement every year or two and having some common sense beaten into us by a big Benz - we thought we had 'found' our car maker only to discover that they are somewhere else.

The issue with the EV6 is production, and now, sadly price. The slow production has been a big issue, and i assume many have jumped ships. As someone else already stated for the US market, that in combination with markups and fixed trimlevels make it a less attractive option. At least here in Norway we get to choose that stuff ourselves. But i have been called three times during my 17 month long wait for the car with questions of getting a lower spec version instead, delievered within 2 weeks, likely due to people who ordered prior jumping off tired of waiting. KIA has been hit heavily it seem by the demand issue on semi-conductors. In addition, here in Norway at least, the car has had a price increase of over 10 000USD, from 2020, we also get a new weight tax here in Norway, this in addition to the tax credit no longer being viable for cars above 50 000USD has simply made the car go from a bargin to a car which is pretty steeply priced. I would not buy the EV6 with todays price. If i was to buy a car today, i would probably buy a Tesla with the current prices.

They have 35 of them on the lots at the two closest dealers to me, ready for sale. But with the dealer markup they have on them above MSRP, it is $10,500 more for the Wind spec in AWD (middle spec) compared to a Model Y Performance.

In America For the most part, I think most Americans associate problems with a company's *"ICE vehicles"* and carries it over to the same company's EVs. Many car buyers don't begin to do their own research before buying a car. The words out about Kia And Hyundai's ICE vehicles catching on fire. 🔥 I could be wrong but that could be a contributing factor, To the lack of sales. Other people were saying how the *_"Kia _**_#StealerShips_**_"_* are/were marking up the prices. You read the comments under this video where many were going to purchase the EV Kia. @@icosthop9998 well, Tesla’s are like, the one better EV you can find lol. So good for those people. And I guess if their dealerships were doing the markup BS, that would explain a lot. Especially with the price cuts from Tesla. I hadn’t heard Kia/Hyundai were getting the crazy markups.. a couple guys i work with both bought a EV6 last year.. one had bought a Bolt.. but when he saw the charge speed he was like.. wtf? It was taking him over an hour to charge to get to work.. takes me less than 30. I had to explain what was going on.. he returned it within a month or two under the battery issue recall back then.. seemed happy with the Kia though

It's madness to spend 60+ grand on a Kia to potter about to shops and take kids to school. Range anxiety and state of charging for non Tesla vehicles is a real problem. It needs to be just a little cheaper. It needs to be a little luxurious inside for the price they are asking. And the IRA act in the US has not helped it much. On top of that they have to contend with the dealerships monopoly when Tesla doesn't. Legacy manufacturers need to band together and get rid of them.

I agree that the EV6 is a fantastic car, as I've owned one for the past year. Which is why it makes me sad to see what's happening. The combination of the greedy US dealer network, the non-applicable $7500 tax credit, continued production delays and parts shortages made whatever ground the EV6 was gaining do a major backslide. Nobody's gonna buy a dual-motor EV6 for 55-60K USD when they could get a Model Y dual-motor for significantly less with the tax credit. Love 'em or hate 'em, the Tesla name has real cachet in the EV world and it will take a lot of things going right for other brands to catch up. Most Americans still think of KIA as an economy brand, and it'll take years of successes here for that mindset to switch.

An AWD Wind spec EV6 goes for about $60K in the Seattle area. I can get a Model Y Performance Edition for $57,000, and get a $7500 tax credit on top of that. $49,500 for a Model Y performance vs $60K for a middle of the road spec EV6. Easy choice.

I only bought the Tesla Model Y over the Kia EV6 because of the advantage Tesla has with the SuperCharger network. Now that some (5 in all of Australia) of the Tesla stations are also allowing non-Tesla's to charge at SuperChargers, the reason for buying a Tesla has basically been negated. The other issue is the RRP... Kia EV6 Sport is AU$88500 on road, the Tesla Model Y RWD is AU$74000. It's a very hard choice to spend an extra AU$14k on anything that isn't a Tesla, however after experiencing a plethora of Model Y issues (all software related) I wish I had waited for an EV6. My bad.

I looked at an EV6 towards the end of last year. They wanted a $6000 market adjustment above the MSRP. I refused to pay, so I did not get one. I ordered a Model Y earlier this year, getting delivery soon. Kia has called me multiple times now saying that they now have them under MSRP. Told them I have moved on. Not only was the Model Y cheaper than the Kia EV6, I also got a $7500 tax credit. So I saved a bunch. Looking at what the local Kia dealer they are again putting a $5000 market adjustment on top of the MSRP. They want $61,000 for an AWD Wind version that gets 282 mile range. Compare that to a Model Y LR that is AWD and gets 330 miles, and only cost $53,000. Then you get a $7500 tax credit on top of that. So the Model Y costs $45,500. $61,000 for the Kia EV6 or $45,500 for the Tesla Model Y LR. I know which way I went.

The cars are very hard to get and the Dealers are marking the base price on average $5000 and no 7500 tax break yet they are still selling because they are a great car. They are quite initially expensive compared to a model 3 but they are much more car, the model Y looks like a model 3 only a hatch and a little bigger but Tesla has the cars available in less than two months soon the full rebate will be cut almost in half because the battery is made in China. I think Teslas are ok there just plain looking and if I keep seeing white Teslas I’m beginning to believe I’m in some kind of a weird science fiction movie. Kia needs to reign in their dealers on the market adjustment crap.Soon they will be built in the USA and get the tax incentives.

Let's be honest. The current price of the EV6 is greatly exaggerated. I myself have been waiting for 18 months and the car has only recently been produced and will ship to Europe in a few days, so in total I will be waiting about 20 months. In the meantime while waiting for the car and following user groups I have a list of numerous faults and shortcomings that I may encounter. The quality of the materials, let's face it, is average. Today, I would not order an EV6 at the price KiA is asking. I would choose the Tesla Y as can be seen in the sales rankings. The EV6 is often no longer even in the top 20 best selling electric cars in most countries.

That is not the definition of a compliance car. What he defined is a limited edition car, manufacture or import much less than demand. Its a well known marketing stratergy. I first saw it in the early 1970s. The product was Bailey's Irish Cream. If you owned a pub, as did my family, the distributor would allocate to your business 2 bottles with each order of thousands of dollars of other stuff.

I would advise against being an early adopter of Kia products. My experience with defective brake lights, melting wiring for my headlights, clicking steering wheels, car locking in park, engine catching on fire, ease of theft... I mean the list goes on and on has been horrible. My engine has messed up AGAIN and I took it to Kia for service two weeks ago. The backlog is so long that they haven't even looked at my car or reached out to me once. They're telling me that I will be without a car for over 4 months. No loaner.. in one of the most car dependent cities in the world. The toll this is having on my finances been horrific. Go with a brand with a better reputation for quality.

I do not think it’s a production issue. The looks of this car is very polarizing. There are many people who love it and the enthusiasts went out and got it. But I know many more people who think that it is ugly at the end of the day. In the end it is a station wagon not an SUV. Station wagons just are not popular.

Until they use front-rear castings w/structural batteries, mostly produced in house, & are producing 200,000/yrly run rate/model, manufacturers have no means to make money other than producing super high end novelty boutique styles. There'll be a market for that. Tesla can provide the service of designing a production line providing the EV platform, then OEM finishes & brings to market bespoke car models. They are not selling because Tesla is kicking their butts on price. When the dealerships add $5000+ in market adjustment, it turns people off. The two dealerships nearest me would not have any on the lot towards the end of last year. They would sell them before they arrived. Now those dealerships have 35 of them on their lots. And they still are charging a market adjustment.

I really like KIA/Hyundai vehicles. Our first was an iX35 AWD 2L diesel in 2011 and we had that until we purchased a top of the range KIA Sportage 2L diesel (MY2017) in 2016. We still have the Sportage and it's been repurposed into my trade vehicle. It still performs faultlessly apart from some little problems along the way all taken take of by the wonderful KIA warranty. The vehicle is still just in warranty after 7 years. When it came to consider an EV, I seriously considered what was on offer from KIA and Hyundai but the prices I thought were way too high. The KIA EV6 in its high specked variant is absolutely astronomical in price. There's no way that it can compete base model of KIA against base model Tesla MY. I have ordered a standard white Tesla MY but I may cancel my order and wait until next year when they'll be more choice and better battery technology. Until then, we have something to drive that is utterly amazing. A BYD Atto 3. IMHO, it offers a better ride than the Tesla MY and is far cheaper.

I really like Kia and Hyundai's BEV designs. There isn't a bum car amongst them. But the hang up with the companies is that they still are hedging its bets on electrification. They produce too few BEVs, so they are always in short supply, unless you get lucky. Too many ICE cars that, yes makes them more profit. But the biggest bewilderment is that they're still persisting with developing H2 FCVs. That argument is long gone, and even Japan is having 2nd thoughts. So why the sibling South Korean firms continue to waste R&D time and money is slightly beyond me.

Two things to explain this in Europe : 1. pricing, while Tesla cuts prices of model Y and 3, Kia raise them, now a top of the line EV6 GT costs 13000 EUR more than a model Y Performance. 2. delivery times: last years, delivery time for an EV6 was 28 to 32 months ! Now it's still 18 months. I have an EV6 GT on order for already 8 months, and they don't have any clue when I'll get it. I see many people cancelling their orders on EV6 user groups.

Here in France we see too few EV6, despite being an excellent car, the best car ever for me. I drove it 60 000km without any problem, and zero degradation. And kia was even able to improve every single problem that early owners had. I had none (built in october 2021). I was able to buy this for only about 38 000€ or 42 000 USD (LR RWD average spec, Design Trim), about 44000€ reduced by a 6000€ eco bonus. It was a professionnal price cut, that is not possible no more, -14,5%. The public price was at 51790€, it is now 57490€ or 63800 USD. And no more Eco Bonus. So if I had to buy an EV6 today, 'd have to pay probably more than 15 000 extra. An EV6 is a terrible deal in France now. My 228 HP car costs about 3500€ more than a Tesla Model 3 Performance in France. Crazy. Yes it is a convenient car, and I guess that Kia has no margin.

The reason of sales going down is double : loss of tax credit in US and increase of price worldwide when Tesla decreased them significantly. I have the ioniq5 and am completely satisfied but the price tag to get it was same than model Y in Belgium BEFORE the price increase ! And why Kia/Hyundai increased price ? Because they don't make profit and are not capable to build new factories fast enough. If you want to decrease price, you need to increase volume. That's all folks! Ordered one in october 2022 and no news about production so far. It looks like production is the real issue and if the dealers cant sell any, they ramp up the prices because it doesnt bother them anyways. The question is just if KIA doesnt want to produce more because the car is too expensive for them (unlikely because the ioniq 5 is available quicker) or if they have some shortages in supply chains and rather let benefit the models with the higher margins (soul ev). I am just hoping that theyll be able to ramp up the production anytime soon. The car is still very competitive to a model y if you get it under msrp.

You can't make a profit with a compliance car, you have to be fully committed to do that. Can we get some clarity on if Tesla is giving us the $7,500 credit into the lease calculation to reduce payments for people who want to get into an EV but want to lease to not be stuck with old technology in 3 years? It doesn't look like it or maybe just on the standard range with the low offered lease figure of $349. Seems like that was the intention of the law and not to put money in the pockets of the lessor as we are the ones paying for this credit through our tax dollars. I have asked, but no one at Tesla seems to know the answer. At the most recent investor day Elon said he wants the vehicles to be as affordable to everyone who wants one to get the transition further along, but if Tesla is keeping the $7,500 lease credit the statement doesn't ring true. Some manufacturers are clearly offering it on some models, but it is frustrating it was not required to be pushed to the customer since we are all paying for it, or maybe my children or their children....:)

@greghudson9717
@greghudson9717 Жыл бұрын
OK. Here's a very good reason... Note: I own a Model Y, a PowerWall2 and TSLA shares. And I am NOT a fanboy... Compare a EV6 and Model Y side by side and you will find the following things either missing or broken in the Model Y. INTERIOR: No handgrips over the doors. The horn only works sometimes (when it feels like it). Air vents that you can actually turn off individually (The Y does not allow you to switch off one side, driver or passenger). A screen and/or heads up display in front of the driver. No 'ordinary' interior door handles (none at all for rear passengers). No buttons for anything like aircon / heating, for example). Rear window is tinted too dark, and so is the rearview mirror (if you are wearing sunglasses, you might as well have no rear window at all). EXTERIOR: No Ultra Sonic Sensors. 19 inch energy sucking wheels. Stupid door handles. Walkaway locking, it works 'most' of the time. AutoPilot / Cruise lane centering 'fights' with you when you indicate to change lanes (dangerous) The steering wheel actually 'kicks back' at you when you try to force it to do what you want - and cancels the indicator at the same time). No speed LIMITER (to prevent you from speeding WITHOUT having to have cruise control on). No spare wheel, nowhere to put one, and nowhere to buy one either. Good luck trying the get it to open your garage door (I bought a new garage door specifically because it is designed to work with Tesla's - it doesn't even though Tesla says it should. Merlin brand BTW). There are more issues, but I haven't documented them all as yet...
