Hey I was a backer and there’s my name at 7:47 ; I live in the LA area and at the time thought this might be a good idea so I pledged at the $150 tier. As a “founder” you were supposed to get your name engraved on a plaque at the space, as well as a t-shirt and some game art posters. I did end up getting the t-shirt and posters. The posters were of good quality but maybe not exactly everyone’s style. I’m surprised DJ didn’t cover the “poster” rewards actually. I was a bummed the “LA/GS” never actually opened, but I did figure it was probably a little over ambitious to think even if it were to open that it would somehow be self-sustaining. As someone who (at the time) was hoping to break out as an indie game dev, I was hoping to give to something I believed in. Sad the way it turned out, though.

@gswanson2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is possible to make games in your bedroom or office at home, there is something to be said about having a space where artists can get together and work. One of the big issues with like me for example, working out of my bedroom, it can be very distracting having both a bed and tons of videogames nearby. Having a place to go to where I can work and hang out with other artists really helps me with my creativity and concentration. Of course if you live in city other than LA it's not going to help you a lot, but I see the utility of places like this.

@@gswanson Yes, of course if you live handy then I can see some appeal, but obviously they would need continued revenue to keep the doors open. I'm assuming that's how they were planning on keeping the light on.

There's a bunch of SCP books, masks, pins, ext that are supposedly being sold on kickstarter. If I recall rightly. You can't make stuff about scp and sell it. @AsterInDis2 жыл бұрын
Ah, yeah, I remember seeing that. SCP is under creative commons attribution-ShareAlike licensing. So I know $300,000 sounds like a ton of money and the knee-jerk reaction is that they ran away with a ton of it, I can say as someone who spent years estimating software development projects that the website they built alone could have easily eaten up half of their entire budget. The issue is that they didn't ask for anywhere near enough money to make something like this work. Looking at their designs for the space (which likely cost them a lot as well if they were hiring freelance or contractor designers), they probably would have needed more in the neighborhood of $5M to get this done and keep it afloat for just 6 months and they were never going to get that amount off Kickstarter. The $300,000 probably couldn't have paid all of the salaries for the team they would have needed to design and build the space as well as development the website other things for even a month. I don't know if they had bad intentions or not, but it seems like they just had absolutely 0 experience in estimating or running projects of this scale and they realized far too late that they didn't even have a tenth of the budget they needed to make this idea work.

@dacypher222 жыл бұрын
@@XanthinZarda Oh yeah, there have definitely been other projects to make multi-millions on crowdfunding campaigns. But the difference is that they were all offering a product as far as I know. These "we are doing this thing that we can't provide to you but here is some merch as backer rewards" type campaigns have a pretty low ceiling. Local restaurants, cat cafes, local theaters, etc. If the creators of this campaign were not just horribly inexperienced, they likely knew that and set $300k as an achievable level assuming that private investors would make up the other 95% of the money but that side didn't come through or didn't come through enough. There were the games, but backers didn't need this concept to succeed to get indie games. We have indie games flowing out of our ears.

Aside from New York, L.A is the most expensive US location to pay rent in. Aside from silicon valley. $300,000 would maybe have allowed them to pay rent for 3 months for a small amount of sq.ft. I don't know what they were thinking with that amount of money. Because aside from rent, in order to do anything with that space, they would need tens of thousands of dollars, if not $100,000 plus. $300k target for funding was absurdly low, and would never ever have been enough. You know I don't think I can blame the creator since they believed in this project, and they through it was a true thing because they're the ones that want people to spread their creativity because sometimes indi games can become something great. What was promised wasn't given (the LA Game Space) but the other stuff was given. I do believe they do regret of believing of what the two guys promised. Chances are the place wasn't built, the guys put some money into the website so they can continue to drag in money, and keep it between the two of them. I do understand why people would be upset at the creators that supported the idea and even spread the words to the point they made a game between one another to basically be handed out as an reward with no payment. But people shouldn't, because again they themselves thought it was a real promising thing to where they made the games without taking any money. To what I can see this is a lesson for them to be now caution about a gaming space for those to create games.

Hey, so there's a kickstarter a friend of mine is really interested in called Menyr, and although it does look amazing, I'm very skeptical of it. Have you or anyone else looked at this campaign and also have alarm bells ring? Or could I be just that much jaded? But the amount they're asking and the types of graphics they showcase (and the fact they said it'll be free once released) seems suspicious to me

They rented out Paddy's Pub! Looks like the gang is scamming people with Kickstarter

Love your channel. You should take a look into the Kickstarter Untamed Isles, sounds like they spent and lost all their money on crypto-currency and now can't create the game they promised.

Again with the DJ. Are you a weekend radio host or a children's birthday party dj??? If not... quit it.

They would have needed at least ten times that in order to get anywhere, but realistically even more. I don't really know if they set out to con people out of money, I think they just greatly underestimated the cost of the things they wanted.

Speaking of a a guy who is a con artist, how about that guy who posed on a Porsche while pretending it was a Lambo? The bodykit was only half as tacky as the responses to the Q&A he was giving.

So, this isn't about Tommy "Yankee Hall of Fame," "First American on Sonic Team," Scamarico? Btw, nice job burying the Amico defense apology video on your second channel! You wouldn't want to use the main one to let your much larger audience know how wrong you were.

You guys havent stopped bringing it up, and hes already got the Amico vid mostly made to my understanding.

@@mistertagomago7974 There's nothing wrong with holding someone accountable. Plus, just like the Amico, I'll believe it when it actually comes out.

@@dc9662 I didnt say it was wrong to hold someone accountable. I meant no one who checks the comment section is going to be able to forget.

NordPass, more like No, I'll Pass. Using software made by malware devs is dumb. There's a thing called KeePass which is 100 percent more secure.

Exactly. You would think this channel would know better than to do business with a company like this. It's really too bad that anyone can be bought.

The only malware distributor ik aware of owning any VPNs is Crossrider who bought ExpressVPN, PIA and a few others last year Nord Security who owns NordVPN, Pass, and CyberSec have never been that afaik. Source on that perchance?

unrelated: 6:16 annoys me for some reason lol what's with the creator just going "ah uh hm er uh ah, yeah, thing! see? thing, it ah uh er hm uh ahh thing? it's.. ah er uhm hmm ah err thing gonna be cool?" T-T-Today, Junior! What kind of sales pitch is that for a video game thing much less anything else? Get on with it already, jesus lmao.
