I had kidney stones years ago and do not wish to experience this again. I started drinking a pressed lemon juice diluted in a quart gallon of water (1 liter) every day. I started in the morning with a glass and continued all day long. After one year I went to see the nephrologist for a checkup. He told me that my kidneys were now in the right size and working well. He added I do not know what you are doing, but it is working, and you do not need surgery anymore. After 8 years, I do not have experienced any kidney issues.

The last one had to be left to grow because they couldn’t remove it and I waited 15 yrs and went back to dr and it was size of quarter and still no pain! Did litho with stent to get the small particles that passed without them clumping up… stent hurt so bad but in 6 weeks it was removed and I’ve never had a stone since in 20 yrs as far as I know. Pretty sure I have PTSD now... man, brutal. However... I've since figured out they were caused by high uric acid levels (tested, confirmed). A tip for others; coffee is high in oxalates and is often drunk with milk. If you drink a lot of this green tea might be a better alternative (moderate oxalates, high in antioxidants). Studies also show green tea has some potential for helping reduce kidney stones.
@bricbradford41652 жыл бұрын
Tea (especially non-green tea) is also high in Oxalates - especially when purchased as "Sweet tea" as most US manufacturers add Corn syrup as the sweetener which has a lot of other negative effects on your health. Sugar is also bad in combination because it binds together to create a synergistically bad Oxalate combination. Heavy soda drinkers (both regular and diet) are highly prone to kidney stone formation. I do agree that green tea WITHOUT sweetener is "technically" a better choice than coffee with cream but drink it black and not in excess and there are many worse drink/food choices than coffee, which actually has other positive health benefits as does "true" green tea. I drink black coffee but counterbalance with drinking close to a gallon of water per day. I also add Braggs Organic ACV (with the mother) for its many benefits ( but one is to help with kidney stone formation - 2TBSP per day is plenty.)

I know pain that no child, or even adult should have to experience (biggest stone was just over 10mm). I still chronically make them but they're far easier to deal with as I pass them before they get too big. but at least once a month I will feel a slight pain on one of my sides, especially in moments of high activity and dehydration, or if I drink/eat high oxalate foods. I am terrified of what the accumulated damage from them will lead to when I'm older. I've probably passed a minimum of 50 in my life already. I did not know about the cheese thing, or the flora, i will be looking into that. I’ve had somewhere between approximately 50 kidney stone surgeries and made man, many more stones that could be passed. In one of those surgeries, a PCNL, the surgeon punctured the renal artery and sent me home that way after surgery. I kept hemorrhaging and bleeding out until I was almost dead. Spent 3 weeks in intensive care and they finally stopped the bleeding. Left me with a kidney working 25%. Years later the kidney was down below 20% so the remaining part of the kidney was removed. I now live with one. I’ve been taking potassium citrate ever since and I make less stones by far.

One thing I would like to know more about is "how long does it take to form a kidney stone?" I developed one just last December. I was in the emergency room when it finally became dislodged and I was able to pass it. To my disappointment, it was not saved so I could not determine what kind it was. It is possible to think back to what could have caused the problem but my biggest issue is time. I was on a slightly less than clean Keto diet for a year probably at most. I had no idea about oxalate heavy foods and I did eat plenty of spinach, chocolate, and nuts, almonds included while on the diet. I have been notorious when it comes to drinking water, in that I did drink very little water for decades, I never bought into the constant drinking of water and I live in an arid environment. Much of my skin problems have diminished because of this diet and continue to do so on a daily basis. My cholesterol has gone from somewhat high to in good range with both "good" and "bad". The diet has worked well beyond any expectations. I have lost much of the extra weight I was carrying, I feel healthier, I have the stamina of my 20 - 30 year junior, I'm in as good of shape I was 20 - 30 years ago and it has changed my life forever. I only eat whole, high-quality foods now and the difference is real. But..... I am incredibly anxious about kidney stones. Every pain or discomfort in the vicinity of the kidneys or intestines or groin makes me worry about another kidney stone, it is draining at times. The missing piece right now is how that one formed and I know that there are others in there. Was it my years of dehydration, the new diet, likely a combination of things but nothing has helped me put some handle on the possibilities. Do we actually have any data or information on the time it takes to form a kidney stone? I'm not looking for absolutes I'm just looking for more information that leads to a better understanding.

Thank you Dr Berg. I have been searching for help on kidney stones and your video is the most informative and helpful by far. I have kidney stones, and I am awaiting keyhole surgery to remove them. Due to the stones being there for a long time (I’ve only just started having pain) they have damaged my right kidney. I now have only 40% function of my kidney and I’m only 42 years old. I have to have urgent surgery according to my consultant to prevent further damage. Im so nervous about the operation. Thank you for the above advice.

People!! I would highly recommend to add boron and selenium!! They're involved in calcium metabolism. I was having pain in adrenals and kidneys taking calcium when was deficient in selenium/boron. It's because when they're low calcium goes in soft tissue But be careful because boron can induce fluoride detox, iodine and vitamin C help with that. I also noticed all fat soluble vitamins (A,E,D,K2) deplete boron. Especially E and K2. Vitamin A helps to absorb boron but may need extra boron in days when you take it (like vitamin D absorbs magnesium, but when you take D you have magnesium inhibited)

Hello Dr. Berg, I am Willy from Peru. I watched another video from you where drinking water with lemon would help to reduce the acidic ph of the body. Please confirm if this is correct or maybe I misunderstood something in the video. Thanks for your help and also thanks for your videos which are very clear and helpful.

Should I avoid natto if I am prone to getting kidney stones? It is a soy product, but also a very high source of vitamin K2. Its also fermented which means good bacteria.

Hi, Dr. Berg. I am interested in following your advice on healthy keto and IF. I do form kidney stones. One thing you don’t mention in this video is hyperparathyroidism. I am learning your parathyroid is the gland which regulates the calcium in your body. This is a condition which I am currently being evaluated for. Would keto be okay with this condition?

I have hypercalcemia and I had to have surgery (tube inserted thru my back into my kidney) to remove over 30 stones just from one kidney!! It was a nightmare, the surgery (I was awake) and it left me with severe PTSD. No one seems to really understand it. Some doctors say avoid calcium, others say take more, etc. Thankfully something I'm doing is acting to lower the calcium in my blood, but I think I still think I have another stone. I've had that surgery 3 times. It's a nightmare.

@kittycat61954 жыл бұрын
Good job! Now, next you need to remember all of the above and then add Phytate content of foods which counteract oxalates, b vitamins which also counteract, and address solvable oxalate as opposed to insoluble oxalate. Also, avocado is our (a stoner’s) best friend. It is NOT a high oxalate food.. You were wrong in another video when you said it was high. Pumpkin seeds are very important to stoner’s, too. And, the fermented foods with their probiotics. Not sure about natto, though

I have experienced kidney stones twice in the past and on both occasions, a stent was required to be placed. The pain that comes along with it is indescribable and the anxiety of going to the emergency room in Canada is immeasurable. The only form of relief that I could find was through heat therapy, such as hot baths, hot showers, hot water bottles, or heating pads. This was after the stent was placed and there were still occasional waves of pain and blockage.

I enjoy watching your videos! I use this as a resource with others in order to learn more about the body and nutritional deficiencies. This is to help my family and I become more healthy. Does anyone know who actually teaches this information like Dr. Berg? I have spoken to med students and they get about just two weeks of nutritional classes! I keep searching but I hope can find where to learn more!

I have had 2 stones... ASAP.. I start lemonade ( the one with stevia) then I add More squeezed lemon juice to that container... Then with each glass I drink I also add.. 1/2 -- 1T ACV or as much as you can tollerate... That helped me get rid of mine...quicker.. Quicker than the first one...before I did my Research... So now ..to help keep stones away..I drink alot of lemonaide..with extra lemon juice..because I like it sour anyways..

Thank you... Could you do a video telling what to do if you get kidney stones... I had a friend that went to the emergency room w/them and they sent her home w/pain pills... the next day she was back in emergency room and apparently they were starting to cause major problems... they messed everything up and the poor woman practically died from the mishandling... she ended up going septic and ultimately after over 3 months in the hospital lost her fingertips and part of her toes... horrifying.... It has really scared me... What path would you recommend for people should this situation come up...

@HawaiiLimey5 жыл бұрын
@@FurkanGlr7 I have heard it takes a month but during this time you want to take herbs to help attack the candida. Personally I did a prolonged fast of 3-4 days whilst taking NusaPure Candida cleanse. I also drank a lot of pau d'arco tea and ate a lot of green veggies with garlic. Also no alcohol too (ethanol is sugar). The longer you have candida the more likely it is going to be inside your cells in the cytoplasm hence why it is hard to draw out.
@HawaiiLimey5 жыл бұрын
And no fruits (fructose), you have to starve the candida whilst attacking it.

Fasting minimum 18h + but its so long to get rid of? What about Lennon juice?

I am wondering if its kidney stones or maybe liver issue as well since front/right/side is more painful and noticeable. I did eat a lot of baked potatoes with skin one night, was really bad next day and i hear baked potato (with skin) triples amount of potassium. Thanks
