I've seen more than one situation where someone just wanted to hang out for a bit at somebody else's place, just temporary until they can find a place to live, or a job, etc. and next thing you know they've become an unofficial roommate and they're running up hundreds of dollars in calls to psychic phone lines or leaving piles of laundry around the place.
