They need to have a course in school that talks about what a GOOD salary looks like in general. What you can expect and what does that realistically mean for YOU. Maybe it is a 1 on 1 with a teacher or something but it should be a requirement to learn about money management and how to negotiate as a teacher! And to know when you are getting scammed!
@HeidiBuss-pd8cw5 ай бұрын
Teachers do not negotiate salaries to the best of my knowledge. I taught for 32 years before retiring. Panda Express in my area is looking for store managers and the advertised salary starts at $75,000 to $100,000. I earned $83,000 my final year of teaching and I had a Master's degree.

How do we let Gabe know that that’s not quite what juxtaposed means? 🙈 juxtaposition is two things next to each other that contradict each other (like having a baby boutique next to a funeral parlour, but it’s mostly used in literature); just having two things next to each other are adjacent 😅

that's wild that some of ya'll weren't in the classroom on campus for student teaching, cuz it wasn't like as much as usual, so ya maybe we should get a discount year or something, but we still had to show up and show where we were at or talk about our student teaching experience...honestly it was kinda pointless cuz I really don't remember what it even was but we had to dress nice like what we would wear at school for a day, it was just a few hours and I think to keep us basically on task with our student teaching and constantly help us with anything and talk about our experiences to learn from the other students in their placements...it was very serious. I got yelled at the one time cuz I either forgot I had that class or I thought it was cancelled and then it wasn't and I showed up in comfy like what I was wearing or jeans we weren't allowed to show up in jeans and I'm like uh sorry but...should be happy I showed up for this...and my student teaching experiences were not great. and cuz we were school librarians, we did elem-high school we took whatever placements we could get and I wanted to focus on middle so I had two of those placements, and then a high school, even though I didn't want to do high school at all lol cuz I had chose to do elem in jr year where you really just sit and watch and do no teaching whatsoever...and in student teaching we were expected to lead a class or a few. And my first middle school teacher placement for student teaching, I called her dragon lady lol she was totally just in it for the money and I think she lived to make college students cry. I even tried asking a guy that had been placed with her before and he was like no help...and I ended up having to go to another middle school that was much better but I also didn't do as much leading the class but the kids were way better.

Zillennial here (born in '99 and should technically be elder Gen Z but my nostalgic memories and personality traits are leaning towards Millennial) and I have NO idea most of the Gen Z and Alpha slang terms are. It seems a lot of them are borrowed/appropriated from LGBT and alt-right incel communities as well as video games. I know that I'm a Zillennial because I still use "swag," "lit," "YOLO," "turnt," "SJW," and "rawr xD" unironically. Like what the hell is "fanum tax" and "skibidi"?

Being young as a teacher can mean relying on being super relatable as behaviour... But that fades SO QUICK. I see teachers all the time in their late 20s/30s who feel close in age to the kids, but the kids don't think that AT ALL. And then all the 'behaviour management' that teacher has learned is out the window.
