I like how the doc handled the question about two girls getting each other pregnant. She actually didn't ridicule her for not knowing (which is certainly not her fault, someone should've taught her that so she won't freak out when she gets her first period and gets forcefully thrown into this whole subject) and even told her a funny story of her first period to make it more comfortable for her to continue the conversation without feeling the need to hold back for feeling embarrassed. A good doc.

My brother used to be, I'm 22 and he's gonna be 25. But he started taking an interest in girls reproductive health when he and his gf got together. I think he realized how little he knew, was too embarrassed to ask her (it was really early on in their relationship), so he'd come to me. I was, and am, honestly super proud of him for keeping an open dialogue and asking questions about women's health and bodies!

Anon 1 no muslim girls should know about their period because there are things you cant do while having a period, like fasting in ramadan for example, girls who get their period are excused are can fast after ramadan when their period is over. You also are excused from praying five times a day. Thats just basic things muslim girls NEED to know.

T I don’t think it’s taught, so much as learned. Little kids are practically shameless. Over time, as they are taught right from wrong and how to handle it, they indirectly learn to feel shame. That’s why adults can have so many insecurities that stress them out and kids just don’t seem to care.

i did too! in a skit at summer camp - and earlier i had been on a horse, so while i was 12 and knew it was coming, part of me still thought i was injured. the next year i had my first kiss, also during a skit at summer camp, and unintentionally to boot. year after that i didn't do the talent show because i was afraid i would hit some other major adolescent milestone in the worst way possible while on stage

I love how some gynecologist are so understanding with younger audiences and are open to every question. Whenever I had my first appointments I never said a word and felt embarrassed, but now I can happily say I have nothing to be embarrassed about with her.
