I don't blame you for quitting. This reminds me of the job I had working in a self serve gas booth (also alone). I got hit on a lot but one guy got mad when I said I had a boyfriend and said he would be back to 'deal with me' when it closed (1am). I told my mom and she called the police. The guy did come back, but the police were waiting. I ended up quitting too because I realized it just not safe to work anywhere alone. A few weeks later my replacement was held up at gunpoint.

Women are not safe in this world. You are young and don't know just how bad it all is out there yet. Always trust your instincts, they are there for you for a reason. There is safety in numbers... try not to be alone too much. Sorry to sound so serious but it IS serious. I know first hand. There are many out there that will do harm given the right opportunity. Just be careful...
@luna.378 жыл бұрын
I very sadly agree with you. DEFINITELY trust your instincts. The one time you don't, you will regret it... Just trust yourself. I wouldn't want to be working in a store alone without some kind of security present - cameras plus guards checking in at least. Not worth it.

Dark Knight No that is not the case. I was not being stuck up at all. But when I'm at work, and these guys are saying highly sexual things to me, and trying to touch me, and just harassing me, it's not okay. This one guy was asking me on a date while he was in line, I had a whole line of people behind him and he wouldn't take no for an answer. Im married. It's not a feminist issue, don't bother people at work and there is a place and time to hit on girls.

I understand that you are young, but your naïveté is dangerous. You have been beautiful all of your life, so you are used to receiving unwanted attention. Now that you are an adult and in the workplace, you must take these situations seriously. You should Never have looked at his phone or even suggested there was a possibility of modeling if your schedule allowed. A simple "I am not interested" delivered in a strong and serious tone, no smiling, will often cut that crap off. Why do you think you must be polite when someone is inappropriate with you? Do not engage in THEIR conversation. Your gut feelings were correct and you should respect them. Please educate yourself on how to control this type of situation safely. Every woman should enroll in self defense classes, at the very least. Many are offered for free. It will make you more aware of your surroundings and increase your confidence, helping you avoid dangerous situations, in and out of the workplace. Be Smart, not "NICE"!

D Rod the only thing I might point out is that when men like this approach you, they tend to get violent/aggressive if you turn them down right off the bat, so you try to stay calm and find a way to put some distance between yourself and the other person without them trying to shoot, stab, or mutilate you. I had some douchebag start screaming at me that he was going to kill me when I called him out on his weird rapey comments at college earlier this year. It's frustrating and humiliating.

Next time this type of situation comes up, just say.."I'm flattered, but not interested in something like that" If they persist, tell them..."This topic /conversation is making me very uncomfortable" then get a blank look on your face and say "ok? Thank you, have a good day". Then just stare at them. It will be very uncomfortable but most men will back off. You can always just pick up the phone and call 911. When they here you say police they will tame the hint. Scary part is that so.e of these freak shows take it really personal. They get really mad. Its better you quit. Especially if there are multiple instances where the employees have felt uncomfortable (with creepy old men). Always listen to your gut feeling! As women we are taught to be nice and sweet to everyone so when something like this happens we ignore that gut feeling. you are SO right for quitting!! Your story reminded me of one where literally there was this beauty/tanning salon and i was there (not tanning as I dont like it either lol) but I get home, like 2 miles away from the tanning salon and there is a creepy guy at my door, telling me through the door, his car broke down and asked if he could use my phone. I had a screened in porch at the time with direct access to front door and I went out there (screened in porch did not open door), and it took me like 60 seconds and I was like "You are the guy that was at the tanning salon"!! You are lying!. The creeper followed me home, and then said "uh uh ummm I lied because I'm a student in art design school and i really just wanted to ask if I could photograph you." I was like you lied, creepily followed me wth!! I had a police escort to and from work for a couple of weeks until that creeper went away. So I am HAPPY you quit. I quit my job at bare minerals and the very first day they pull us all aside and tell us they "everyone are getting there hours cut in half" which pretty much meant for me since I was new I would work only 8 hours a week. Which is insane and this went on for awhile. They told me that I can never gossip in the store to the other girls and I was cool with that but soon as we were all left alone all the girls would gossip and warn me about my boss and my managers and say how horrible it is to work here and tell me to quit. But I still worked there for 6 months, first thing is that I could not stand my boss. She would purposely make all the other girls to stay in the back so I would have to try to deal with 10 people who would come in needing help with products or want me to do their makeup. I would walk in on them watching Netflix all the time when they were suppose to be working. My boss even made fun of me and told me that she felt sorry for me because I could not remember how to say a product name. They would change the schedule up all the time without me knowing and I would come in late or 3 hours early and get in trouble when no one would tell me it was changed. On my prom day I wanted to come in and get my makeup done by them for fun and my boss pretty much said no and that they didn't have time for me and I was gonna be in the way when they had better things to focus on when I could just do my own makeup at home, but If I do wanna do it in the store they would stick me in the bathroom by myself. For three hours at the end of the day I would have to clean the whole store top to bottom when my boss just sat in the back and she would complain just because I forgot to fill the soap bottle up and that she couldn't clean her brushes because of it and she made me clean her brushes as a punishment. I was so done with that job I'm glad I left when I did.

In response to the creepy man at the end of your video, just say"NO, Thank you" in a strong tone. Say it again if he persists and if he asks for a 3rd time then you tell him, "I said No, thank you. If you continue to harass me I will have you arrested." That's it. There is no need to accommodate someone who is scaring you, encroaching on your personal space and seriously making you fearful or returning to work. You can be nice and you should to customers BUT when they cross the line you can and if you don't know how, learn HOW to be assertive and say NO.

There were always older men who would follow me to watch me clean the beds which was beyond uncomfortable. I had a couple guys wait outside for me to close the store while I was working by myself. Not to mention the amount of times I found urine in the trash bins in the rooms. I quit after my creepy boss called me a "naughty girl" when I asked for the money he shorted me on my check. Those guys are targeting the tanning salon because they know you guys are running the place solo. Corporate really should change that for safety reasons! I suggest that if you are dealing with a guy like that "photographer" guy, forget the need to be nice because you work at retail. An example would be instead of walking under his arm in the doorway tell him excuse me. Take control of the situation by not giving him what he's after. Don't look at the pictures on his phone, tell him you are not interested in what he's trying to offer you. You don't need to be outright rude because that could cause him to get super angry. Find a way to halt conversation, don't get personal. I can't stand dealing with creepy guys and by the end of the exchange they will know that!
@baidoh1078 жыл бұрын
Thank you for saying "assaulted" as opposed to another choice of word. I'm so used to hearing people make jokes about sexual assault, especially when referring to creepy men. But you took the right approach with not linking those two things. I am pleasantly surprised! As for the way you treated the creepy photography man.... Girl, I would've flat out told him that he was being inappropriate and that I was uncomfortable/not interested. Being blunt when a man is making me feel uncomfortable is something I am 100% okay with. Who cares if they don't like it or get mad. I do understand that you were alone in the store and that could've influenced your reactions in an attempt to not set him off. The manager/owner of the place you were working at is totally in the wrong for only having one employee there at a time. Good for you for quitting! I work in skincare retail for a brand that has a men's line, so I know a thing or two about creepy men and how uncomfortable they can make you feel. That is why I am thankful that there is always at least one other person working with me and that we have panic buttons at the registers for on-site security.

Yikes...I had nooo idea tanning salons were like that! Makes sense thinking about it. The scary thing is to think about having to go into a room alone and clean it with strangers waiting outside. Omg...I literally typed this as you talked about him following you in. Ugh...tanning salons need security guards. Glad you got outta there, and you're safe.

GIRL. I know this was a few years ago but I seriously hope you know better now!! I would have either called someone and stopped talking to him or have said in a commanding voice “you need to wait out in the lobby” and I would not have walked under his arm, i would have made him move. Stand up for yourselves ladies, this kind of thing happens all the time

That "can I ask you something" thing is so true lol. The last guy to ask me that was middle aged and wanted to know "how it feels to wear panties" and when I didn't respond well to that he said he wanted to buy his "gf" some sexy lingerie for their anniversary and needs my advice on what to buy and where. WTF NO CREEP GO AWAYYY is what I should have said but I just told him to ask his imaginary gf haha

I love youuu!! You're so cute and candid. I like your story-telling and your natural speaking flow, as if we are your best friends having coffee or frozen yogurt together. 😂😭 That's the feeling I get watching your videos anyway; I don't actually know what having a female best friend would be like! I imagine good anecdotes, such as the ones you share here would be told at a coffee or fro-yo date, and that there would be lots of coffee and fro-yo in our relationship... okay, I'm done projecting. You're hilarious and honest and you make me laugh and feel less alone. 😩🤓😜😅 THANK YOU for sharing. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💖💟💜

Making you walk under his arm while he's leaned up against the door frame like the ultimate creep-ass? HELL NO! lol 😂😂😂 I would've thought of something like "excuse me" hahaha, but in the moment, I probably just would've acted like I was the ultimate Olympian in "ducking". 😂

wow I never thought the tanning salon would be so scary. you went through a lot of stuff to be only working there a month that's crazy. no wonder the people that run the tanning bed that I went to is so blunt and precise with their jobs. They probably have crazy people like that. great video maybe you should make like a series where you get new jobs and keep the job for a month and then have storytimes with us LOL

That last bit of advice is SO IMPORTANT! No job is worth being sexually harassed or made to feel uncomfortable! Like I am not here to entertain you, go hang out with people your own age. I'm not even "pretty" like you are and men are just gross sometimes like when I worked with law enforcement officers one of them was always touching my neck and asking me weird questions and my boss had to loudly confront him in front of his peers to get him to stop. Having a supportive boss can make all the difference

Lol, I just commented on the video about Sephora saying I hoped something better would come along for you. On the plus side it sounds like you worked with nicer people, but I don't blame you for getting away from from the pervs! Seriously it gave me the creeps hearing you talk about him following you! ALWAYS trust your instincts on something like that!

Jesus Christ...this is why I don't want to work either. Weird ass foolishness going on everywhere! And then everyone asks why the hell millennials don't want to work. Look at the work environment! A person with any self-respect won't stay at this sort of place. This is why I quit my job as well. Crazy mofos everywhere!

Lol omg I can relate so much to your tanning salon stories, I used to work in one too but for a couple years and I had the closing shift like every Friday by myself... it’s the worst. Another job that seems to attract a lot of creepers is when I worked the reception at massage envy... people always asking “ohhh so are you gonna give me the massage/what are you gonna be wearing when you give me the massage” or “what kinda massage” and more of that... so gross.
