I do feel sympathy for the people who're dragged into gangs and cartels to try to survive. I do. I say this from a very VERY privileged point of view. I won't EVER have to deal with this. Some choose to give in and live and make life worse for others. Only you can make that choice for yourself. Some choose to fight and die trying to make life better for others. Only you can make that choice for yourself. But when you're standing in the back of a truck, being executed by the guys who are fighting to make other people's lives better, because you chose to join the gang instead of fight back, you only have YOURSELF to blame. YOU made the choice. This isn't a judgment. It's just reality. The people who're inundated and controlled by ruthless gangs made a choice to let them operate. If the people stood up, and risked death, they would win. It would require the ultimate sacrifice, but they'd win. I pray I never have to make that choice, for I fear I too may be a coward. But every day you choose not to fight back, you're choosing to be a coward. That goes for all of us, in every fight.
