My hubby and I followed each step (only swapping out almond flour and adding our own seasoning) and it came out perfectly!!!

Looks like too much work just for pizza, I think almond flour is much easier. Unless this tastes significantly better I will stick to almond flour.
@markbeiser4 жыл бұрын
To me, a crust made with almond flour+cheese dough, with Italian seasoning and garlic powder mixed in, tastes better than the cauliflower, but in the 12" pizza recipe I've been making, the almond flour crust is over 1100 calories all by itself, vs. less than 400 calories for the cauliflower one. Not necessarily a big deal if you account for it, but it is a factor. Then again, when I do an almond flour crust one, I feel totally stuffed, to the point of discomfort, after just 2/3 of it, so there isn't a lot of danger of me eating the whole thing at once anyway.
@dreamingrightnow11744 жыл бұрын
@@markbeiser How much almond flour do you use for one pizza? The info I have is 1c almond flour = 10 net carbs..
@markbeiser4 жыл бұрын
@@dreamingrightnow1174 The recipe I use has 1.5 cups of almond flour, and will make 2 crusts that are typical "hand tossed" thickness, or 3 that are typical "thin crust" thickness. So either 3/4 or 1/2 cups for a 12-13" pizza crust. All of the cauliflower crust recipes I've seen have more total and net carbs in them. There can be a pretty big variation in how many carbs are in a cup of almond flour too, mostly depending on how finely ground it is. A cup of super-fine Bobs Red Mill almond flour weighs more than the same volume of their fine ground. Same for other brands. I prefer the texture of the crust when I use a courser ground flour vs a finer grind flour. Finer grinds work better for some other things, so I've got a couple of different ones on hand.
@dreamingrightnow11744 жыл бұрын
@@markbeiser Yes, I find the low carb flours are a lot more satisfying than wheat flour and you have to a chance to digest, rather than eating them fast and realizing you're uncomfortably full. But that's not a bad thing; feeling full when you're trying to eat healthy food. Btw, are you looking at calories too? I noticed you mentioned them. Are you doing a keto diet or a modified low carb?
@dreamingrightnow11744 жыл бұрын
@@markbeiser Do you make the crusts ahead and freeze them? If not, what's your experience with keeping them in the fridge for a while for later meals? It is probably healthier to cook in a frying pan over medium heat. It takes longer than 3 to 5 minutes in the microwave, and you have to stay on it to keep it from browning, but cooking the water out in a frying pan saves the time you would have spent squeezing the water out and nutrients are left in the cauliflower since you are only going to evaporate the water. It is definitely going to be a better option for anyone who has issues like arthritis or carpal tunnel that would keep them from being able to squeeze out the water.
