I worked as a cashier at a casino. I also saw patrons whose lives were destroyed by gambling addiction. There were signs everywhere that were basically disclaimers to protect the casinos, that encouraged anyone with a gambling "problem" to seek help and provided a hotline not associated with the casino. They also, in training, stressed to the employees that it was their responsibility to detect and report "problem" gamblers. Of course, if you did so, you were harassing their "best customers" and your job was threatened. It was all about the $ and exploiting people who needed help. They used the word "problem" to describe a problem they helped create. I wasn't there long.

After he died in 1996 we would call her often and make a point to visit with her when we were in Florida. Although she never told us directly ( had to hear it from other friends and neighbors 840K+ stolen ) her son and daughter in law cleaned her out, ran up 10's of thousands in credit card debt and mortgaged her home to the hilt. In 2008 she was evicted from her home and they stuck her in a Nursing Home. Her sister and other family did get a social worker involved and secured his pension monies and Social Security benefits away from her son it barely covered her credit card bills and Nursing Home payment. She died in 2010. I surmise heartbroken from the financial abuse perpetrated by her own son.

When my tenant died, no one discovered her for 10 days. The poor woman had a little dog who was trapped in the apartment with her that whole time. Since my tenant had no family in the area, I fostered her until a relative could come pick her up and let me tell you, that little dog STUNK like death!! The smell of human decomposition is so putrid, so vile, so disgusting… I went through an entire bottle of dog shampoo and 3 bottles of wine. I vomited at least 4 times. I felt so awful for my tenant bc it’s undignified to have people vomiting over the smell of your rotting corpse. How the hell you could stay with a loved one in that condition is beyond me, it’s the ultimate disrespect. To let them rot and their odor offend police and coroners is just cruel. Poor David and Pamela. May they rest in peace

I will never understand how someone can end a 30-year relationship to go gambling. There has to be something seriously wrong in someone. Her poor family. She not only killed her husband, she destroyed her family. I love my fiance and can't imagine even considering hurting him, he's so important in my life, he's my second half. I look forward to spending the rest of my life with him. Our relationship isn't perfect all the time, but we help each other so much and work to better each other. Well, ask my dad. After having 6 kids, we moved city because of his way too many aquintences and also debt. So, after moving, my dad couldn't stay too much so he left. Never sent a penny to us, but he kept asking my mom for some money from time to time. He lied to many people to get a place to sleep, this was mentioned in his own letters. He never asked how we were doing. It always boggles me how? You make 6 kids and you don't miss them ! Never sent a thing. Just wow. He kept gambling. Until one day he was very sick, had a stroke, and had half body paralysed. He died at the age of 53. Money is the root of all evil. When my dad died one of my sisters took $5,000 of my mom's money. All 3 of my sisters hired lawyers to fight for guardianship of my mom so they could have access to her money. The judge granted guardianship to a court appointed attorney. Then when my mom was shipped off to assisted living one sister wrote a letter to the judge saying my mom was running out of money and was going to be on the street. They were just terrified they weren't going to receive any money in the will when she died. And then when my mom died one sister stood over her laying in the bed and mentioned her rent at assisted living was going up the following month and giggled with relief that our mom died. All 3 sisters are out of my life. I'll never make contact with them again
